The Subwarine is a submarine utilized by Wario in Wario Land: Shake It!. Its name is a combination of "submarine" and "Wario". In underwater levels, Wario himself is not controlled, but the Subwarine is used instead. It can shoot missiles, which is done by pressing the 1 button, though only 3 can be on-screen at a time. To move up and down, the Wii Remote must be rotated like a steering wheel – the Subwarine matches the Wii Remote's angle.
When Wario loses half of his hearts, the machine starts to break down. Underwater levels have optional side missions requiring the player to avoid this state.
