Mario Squared Galaxy is a galaxy appearing in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is located in World S. The galaxy takes place on an 8-bit Mario, which also appeared as a planet in the Toy Time Galaxy from the first game. However, the spinning platforms have been replaced with Flipswitch Panels. An 8-bit Luigi appears on the opposite site and serves as a Purple Coin level. It keeps its poisonous goop, but this time, the yellow platforms do not spin and there are only 100 Purple Coins in the mission.
Planets[edit]
Starting Planet (Mario)[edit]
The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an official name is found, then the section should be changed to its appropriate title.
This planet serves as the starting planet for the first mission and the green star missions. The planet is shaped almost exactly like a sprite of Mario from Super Mario Bros. The green pixels are shrinking platforms, the red pixels are lava, and the yellow pixels are Flipswitch Panels. The Comet Medal is found at the bottom left of the planet. The only enemies here are Li'l Cinders and a Sentry Beam.
Starting Planet (Luigi)[edit]
The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an official name is found, then the section should be changed to its appropriate title.
This planet only appears in the "Luigi's Purple Coin Chaos" mission and is on the back of the Starting Planet (Mario). The planet is shaped almost exactly like a sprite of Luigi from Super Mario Bros. The green pixels are shrinking platforms and poisonous water while the yellow pixels are solid yellow platforms. One hundred Purple Coins are found on this planet. The only enemies here are Cosmic Clones. This part of the galaxy is almost an exact replica of the Luigi's Purple Coins mission in Toy Time Galaxy, except that the yellow platforms from Super Mario Galaxy that slowly flipped over and kept flipping when stepped on are replaced with stationary ones. The Cosmic Spirit appears in this level if the player is struggling to complete it.
Enemies[edit]
- Li'l Cinders (Starting Planet (Mario) only)
- Sentry Beam (Starting Planet (Mario) only)
- Cosmic Clones (Starting Planet (Luigi) only)
Missions[edit]
Mission | Image | Summary
|
---|---|---|
Make Mario a Star | This mission's objective is to touch all of the Flipswitch Panels. | |
Luigi's Purple Coin Chaos | This mission's objective is to collect all 100 Purple Coins within two minutes. |
Green Stars[edit]
Green Star 1[edit]
The first Green Star is located under a disappearing platform in the top right, near the back of the "Mario Hat" lava pool and right above the "ear". The player should wait on the center of the platform, and drop down to land onto the star. If the player is not in the center of the platform, then Mario falls past the star and loses a life. If the player misses, they can spin before falling into the pit.
- Enemies
- Li'l Cinders
- Mobile Sentry Beam
- Planets Visited
Green Star 2[edit]
The second Green Star is located on another disappearing platform, yet to the far top left on the "right hand" of the planet. Mario must simply stand in the middle while the platform is shrinking, and fall down onto the star. If not done correctly, Mario falls to his death instead of onto the star. Like before, the player can spin before falling to their death if they missed.
- Enemies
- Li'l Cinders
- Mobile Sentry Beam
- Planets Visited
Profile[edit]
- Prima Guide: "Mario Squared Galaxy is shaped like classic Mario from his 8-bit adventures. The red in Mario's overalls is actually colored in by lava, so be careful you don't singe your behind on your own duds."[1]

Trivia[edit]
- In the Japanese, Italian, Chinese, and Korean versions, when Luigi is selected as a playable character, the name of the galaxy changes from "Mario On Mario Galaxy" to "Luigi On Mario Galaxy".
- In the Prima Games Guide, it is stated that Green Star 1 is located at the left leg of the Starting Planet (Mario). However, this was changed to the location of Green Star 2 in the final version of the game.[1]
