Switching rooms[1][2] are a set of three doors appearing in the Mushroom Castle in Super Mario 64 DS. The doors are each marked with the letter of the corresponding player character, and opening them allows the player to switch characters. These doors can be accessed by opening the rightmost 1-★ door on the mezzanine that leads into the princess's room. The switching rooms cannot be opened without the proper keys necessary to unlock them. The keys for unlocking Mario, Luigi, and Wario are found in Goomboss Battle, Big Boo Battle, and Chief Chilly Challenge, respectively.
