Chirako no Shima is an island that only appears in two chapters of Super Mario-kun. It is inhabited by various Rex-like dinosaurs. According to Mario, it is situated south of the Mushroom Kingdom.[1]
While Princess Peach is organizing a matchmaking date between the islander Chirako and Yoshi, inviting the former to the Mushroom Kingdom, Wario targets the island with the intention of stealing its treasures. Chirako quickly departs for the Mushroom Kingdom to ask for help, but Wario follows her and, after she encounters Mario and Yoshi, he tries to trap all three of them in a pit with Tetrominos. Wario fails in his plan and returns to the island.
In chapter 10 of Volume 10, Mario, Yoshi, and Chirako depart for the island on the Marine Pop; once there, they discover that the citizens have been buried in the sand and Wario is tied up and de-powered: before their arrival, the island was also attacked by the Brown Sugar Pirates, who stole all the island treasures and their precious giant golden statue of Peach and took it to their base at the nearby Kitchen Island. After Mario and Yoshi join forces with Wario in stopping the Pirate Gooms left on the island, with the villagers passing Wario a Garlic to power him up, they decide to go and retrieve the treasures.
In chapter 1 of Volume 11, the trio departs from Chirako no Shima, with a Wanderin' Goom as a prisoner, on a tiny boat.
Despite retrieving the treasures and the statue, Mario and his friends are never seen taking back the stolen goods, as immediately after the end of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 story arc, a new one begins where the statue warps them in a future ruled by Bowser, but this original story arc was never continued and so the treasures and the statue are never seen be brought back to their owners, and with Chirako being replaced by Birdo as the love interest for Yoshi (a role Chirako originally took following her death in the Super Mario Bros. 2 story arc, before her return in Wario's Woods), the island and its inhabitants are never brought back again.
