In Super Mario Galaxy, merge mission articles from single-star galaxies into the galaxy articles

(My first proposal, I hope I'm doing everything right...)
I was thinking about proposing this since there's a lot of repeated content in the mission articles, and I don't think they need to exist when there's only one mission to cover anyway. The galaxy articles can cover everything on their own. If this passes, links leading to the missions will redirect to the galaxy they're a part of. The affected articles would include the following:

Note that Buoy Base Galaxy and Gateway Galaxy are excluded because they have two missions each.

Support

  1. ViableBunnyBudd (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Somethingone (talk) This is similar to what we do with the locations in Super Paper Mario, so sure. Per proposal.
  3. Super Mario RPG (talk) Per proposer and Somethingone.

Oppose

  1. Scrooge200 (talk) The galaxy articles describe the world design more generally, while the level articles focus more on the specific things Mario or Luigi has to do to complete them. I think merging the individual missions would just come off as messy and inconsistent.
  2. DryBonesBandit (talk) It would seem inconsistent to me if the single missions were merged into the articles for the galaxies while the multiple missions from other galaxies stayed separate.
  3. Hewer (talk) Per all, this would just create an unnecessary inconsistency.
  4. PrincessPeachFan (talk) Should we do the same thing for Super Mario 64, then?
  5. Nightwicked Bowser (talk) Per all
  6. Nintendo101 (talk) Per all.
  7. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - This is a slippery slope I am not interested in going down. Per Scrooge and DBB.

Comments

To be honest, I generally think missions in the Super Mario platforming games would do better merged into their course pages, because often a player will play several missions on the same course at a time. Also, this way, the layout guides are there for easy reference without having to click between articles. And summaries of the missions can go on the game pages instead. So, what about the single star missions from Super Mario 64? Should we merge those too? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:20, August 18, 2024 (EDT)

I'd support that. Read my above comment. Super Mario RPG (talk) 08:23, August 18, 2024 (EDT)
Those missions don't have an in-game name or a selection menu (unlike these), as such they are not split in the first place. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:34, August 18, 2024 (EDT)

Super Mario RPG (talk), personally, I think missions/episodes/objectives are distinct enough to benefit from dedicated article coverage, especially considering the open design of the hakoniwa 3D games ensures missions are often completed in different ways and the goal is often in completely different areas. Different parts of levels open up or close based on the framing of the missions. Different enemies often appear. Maybe a 3D level article can be written that comfortably includes all mission information in it, but I would want to see an example drafted first before supporting a revision like that. I really do not like how Green Stars are covered in the SMG2 Galaxy articles, for sn analogous example. - Nintendo101 (talk) 12:18, August 18, 2024 (EDT)
