The 400m Hurdles is an event in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 where the goal is to reach the finish line first.
The gameplay bears more semblance to the 100m (2D) event rather than to the 110m Hurdles event. The same Super Start and speed mash systems as in "100m (2D)" are used along with colored jump tabs to determine how good a jump was: "Perfect" when jumping from the pink tab closest to the hurdle or "Good" when jumping from the yellow tab further away.
One second in real life equals approximately 2.4 seconds in-game.
Trivia
- As the runners cannot run slower than a set minimum pace, the slowest possible time to finish the race is 1:34.476.
