Melon Folley is a single-player minigame found in Mario Party Advance. Its name is likely a pun on "melancholy."

Introduction[edit]

Before each round, barrels fall onto the arena, followed by the melons.

Gameplay[edit]

The goal of the minigame is for the player to try to collect all the watermelon slices and whole melons on the rafts before time runs out or they fall into the water. Each slice and melon gives the player 100 points, but collecting the melon last earns the player 1,000 points. When the player jumps onto another raft, the one they stood upon falls into the water. If the player stays on a wooden raft too long, both eventually sink into the water.

In Play Land, the player must see how long they can survive as the levels increase in difficulty, with barrels being added to some of the platforms in some levels. Collecting a fruit slowly earns 10 points, and collecting one fast earns 20; collecting the melon last earns the player either 1,000 or 2,000 points, depending on how fast they were moving. After each round, the player's remaining time is also added to their overall score. If the player is stuck on the wooden raft or falls into the water, the minigame ends. The minigame also ends after 30 rounds have passed; as such, the maximum score that the player can earn is 77,760 points.

Trivia[edit]

The pear from Melon Folley in Mario Party Advance
  • The European release of Mario Party Advance changes the melon to a pear, removing the ambiguity between "melon" as the unique fruit and "melon" as potentially short for "watermelon." The description is changed to acknowledge this.
