Magmathon (Hot-Scotch in the British English version) is a general minigame in Mario Party: Island Tour. Its American name is a portmanteau of the words "marathon" and "magma", whereas its British name is a portmanteau of the word "hot" and the children's game "hopscotch."

Introduction

The players start out on a giant, rocky platform. Two different platforms lettered A, B, X or Y rise from some lava below.

Gameplay

The players press buttons to jump to different platforms rising from the lava. Although it is impossible to fall into the lava, the players can still lose time by pressing the wrong button. Every time a character jumps into a rock platform, two new ones will rise in front of it, each with different letters representing which button should be pressed. The first player to the other side of the lava wins.

This game is also available in Time Attack as the first minigame. The bonus objective is done by not trying to make false moves.
