Now really, if this deserves an article, why doesn't the DKC series? Fawfulfury65
- This should be merged with the main Donkey Kong series article. Diddy Kong Racing isn't even related to the later Donkey Kong racing games. Ray Trace(T|C)
- OK, but I'm really wondering: Why do we have articles for Mario sub-series, but not Donkey Kong sub-series? Fawfulfury65
- Like how Wario has a sub-series? Hm, the Donkey Kong Racing series only has 2 games that aren't remakes or canceled, and only one game extensively revolves Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong Barrel Blast). I'm not too sure about the Donkey Kong Country series. The Donkey Kong Country series only has 4 games, excluding remakes and ports, but it could be considered a series, since there are 4 games and 4 games are enough to be considered a series. Ray Trace(T|C)
- OK, but I'm really wondering: Why do we have articles for Mario sub-series, but not Donkey Kong sub-series? Fawfulfury65
Agreed, I don't believe something this minor requires a proposal but if you do, I have no problem creating one. Marioguy1 (talk)
- Well, this article technically means the same thing as the other, so why should we go through the hassle? Everyone's gonna agree on it, guranteed. We should leave this as a redirect and move the information to the article with the more suitable name (in this case, Donkey Kong Racing (series)). Ray Trace(T|C)
- Yeah, no proposal needed at all. Just go ahead ;) --™ The 'Shroom 01:18, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Oh I had no idea there was a different article for the DK Racing games 0_o But why do the other DK sub-series have them? It's not consistent this way. Fawfulfury65
Rename Donkey Kong Racing (series) to Diddy Kong Racing (series)
Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome I thought of this after discussing things with both Glowsquid and Bazooka Mario on the FA nomination page of Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. We know that Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 was intended to have two sequels, Diddy Kong Pilot and Donkey Kong Racing that ended being canceled. It later got a remake on the DS instead. I also removed Barrel Blast from this page, as it has never been officially stated as a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing. But my point of this discussion is to rename this page, as Donkey Kong wasn't playable in the original Diddy Kong Racing or its DS remake, and I don't get how the page is named "Donkey Kong Racing", even if Diddy was the main character in DKR (and was supposed to be it in "Pilot").
But Glowsquid also had a valid point in the discussion we had: "It's true that Rare did try to follow Diddy Kong Racing with various cancelled projects so I suppose having the page makes sense, but in real-world term, the "Donkey Kong Racing series" consist of one game, and a remake of that one game. Can you call that "a series"?

- Wildgoosespeeder (talk) Why name a series after a canceled game to describe released games that are similar or related in concept pretty closely, such as Diddy Kong Racing and Diddy Kong Pilot? That would be like naming the Paper Mario (series) by it's development name of Super Mario RPG 2 (a title Paper Mario was called during development). I have no other comparison to make to how silly this series naming is. I support.
- AfternoonLight (talk) I support this one. If DiC is renamed DIC Entertainment, why not this? Diddy Kong Racing and its DS remake should be perfect for this renaming!
- Pseudo-dino (talk) Per Wildgoosespeeder.
- Yoshi the Space Station Manager (talk) Per all.
- YoshiKong (talk) Per all.
- Tails777 (talk) While I'm more on Time Turner's side of simply deleting this article, as it's only two games, one being a remake, I still support this idea, as it makes more sense to name it after the games that have been released as opposed to cancelled ones.
- Quizmelon (talk) Per all.

Honestly, I'd be more in favour of scrapping the page. A series of one is hardly a series. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:13, 14 July 2016 (EDT)
- Meh, it has vaporware so it technically has two more entries, even though they never came out. Ray Trace(T|C) 18:07, 16 July 2016 (EDT)
The article was moved but the proposal didn't reach its deadline yet. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:06, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
Necessary?
This is one game, a remake (or maybe even just heavily-altered port considering the model reuse), and 3.5 canceled sequels that could just as easily be noted on the main DKR page. Does this really need its own article? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:28, March 1, 2022 (EST)

This is not a series. It's one game, a remake, and three (and a half) canceled/reformatted interim attempts at sequels. This article has (however inexplicably) existed since 2008, and I think that it's time for it to go. The canned games table can be moved to the DKR page proper, and this page can be redirected to Donkey Kong (franchise)#Racing games if only because of its lengthy existence.

- Results May Vary (talk) Regardless of the circumstances, it was definitely going to expand into a small series if Nintendo had allowed Donkey Kong Racing to be finished (instead of Star Fox Adventures) and/or accepted Climax's Diddy Kong Racing Adventure pitch, so I'd say it's like a single game with a remake and two canceled/rejected sequel attempts. I'm pretty sure Rare considered making a sequel for 360 (Fast and the Furriest?) with the Diddy Kong Racing characters, albeit without Diddy Kong himself (due to licensing).
- Koopa con Carne (talk) Per RMV. Incorporating summaries of these sequels/potential sequels on the incipient game's article needlessly creates a listing that is ultimately of little relevance to the article at hand. Wikipedia does that, but the Mario Wiki has a much more focused, single-franchise scope, so we're better off going with a separate article that summarizes what this series could have been.
