Cap Blocks are ! Blocks that appear in courses in Super Mario 64. They come in red, blue, and green. At first, they come in outlines as Dotted-Line Blocks, making them inaccessible. To make them solid, Mario must press their corresponding Cap Switches. The red Cap Switch on the Tower of the Wing Cap solidifies the red blocks, the blue Cap Switch in Vanish Cap Under the Moat solidifies the blue blocks, and the green Cap Switch in the Cavern of the Metal Cap solidifies the green blocks. When hit, Cap Blocks provide caps that give Mario special abilities depending on the blocks' colors: Red blocks contain Wing Caps, blue blocks contain Vanish Caps, and green blocks contain Metal Caps.

In Super Mario 64 DS, Cap Blocks are replaced with red ? Blocks.
