Welcome! I'm also new, actually, and just wanted to stop by and say "Hi!" I joined this wiki on 1/8/08. File:MP3 GoldenMushroom.gif --Super mario fan 15:38, 17 January 2008 (EST)Super mario fan
Orangeyoshi Thanks, Super Mario Fan! Is there anything in my userpage that makes me look not smart? I feel like there might be.
No, but one thing, do you think you could post anything you want to talk about on MY talk page? Thanks, pal File:MP3 GoldenMushroom.gif --Super mario fan 19:43, 17 January 2008 (EST)Super mario fan
Hey, nice part where you pointed out where you were.Lol. Where'd you get the picture? Also, you know the part where you said that you wanted a yellow mushroom? Well,I don't get it when you said:but I don't know what should do. Your friend, File:MP3 GoldenMushroom.gif --Super mario fan 15:21, 20 January 2008 (EST)Super mario fan
(laughs) If you compare me to the other users, I'm one of the least talked to. And when you say noone will reply to you, it's probably because you only comment on article talk. My advice is to talk to people on their userpages like for instance, and you'll probably have more talks than me. CrystalYoshi is a cool name! 20:03, 30 January 2008 (EST) P.S. I got a new sig.
Hi, I just wanted to say hi because I know you're online. ;)I also know how you feel about the sig, I did the exat same thing you did. 17:31, 1 February 2008 (EST) Let's try your sig out: CrystalYoshi Nice! No! Wait! I know what you're doing wrong. Give me 10 minutes! 17:51, 1 February 2008 (EST)
Hi, sorry that I couldn't talk earlier. DANG homework! Also, my dad doesn't really allow it. I see that you have tons of comments. Nice work! 20:20, 11 February 2008 (EST)
An error has occured on my computor!
Ah, but you forgot that I have Piano and violin. Also, if my dad finds me on this website... goodbye sniff... Okay that's incredibly retarded. I also have other websites I like to attend. Last thing, could you install a link to your talk page on your sig? That would save me a lot of trouble on this slow computor. Thanks.
No,h e just hates its anything that is video game related because it's not good for my mind or eyes. That's what he says at least. 19:18, 13 February 2008 (EST) Thank you ;)

RE: What's Wrong with Mario
Well, first of all there's a lot more to Bowser than just a big fat jerk. He's had a pretty rotten life by the looks of it; I mean, eight kids but no wife? Makes you wonder what happened to her. And I do think he had a wife and not just some den mother or whatever, just look at his unrequited yet never wavering love for Peach; that's not the mark of a polygamist. Plus there's all the abuse Bowser goes through. True, he deserves most of it, but what about in Yoshi's Island when all he wanted was a ride on a "Gween Donkey" and he got attacked by Yoshi. It was Kamek who then made him giant and had him fight, I doubt very much little Baby Bowser asked for that. Yes, he was obsessed with being "evil" in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time but stealing cookies is hardly evil, and yet he still got beat up for it. If that happened to me I'd grow up to be a bit of a prick too. And what about friends? Bowser likes Peach, but it seems the only person who likes him is Kammy Koopa, and he can't stand her for very long. So, I think it'd be safe to assume he has no friends, and therfore his bitterness at never being invited to those Mario Parties when greedy-gutts Wario, Waluigi and Bowser's own henchmen (Koopa Kid) are in attendace. I'd want to ruin there fun too. But you'll notice he doesn't actually spoil the party anyway; the others actually benefit from his meddling.
And speaking of hurting people, has he ever hurt Peach? Has he ever forced his amourous intentions on her? It wasn't his fault she was hypnotized into marrying him in Super Paper Mario, he was just going with the flow 'cuz it was what he'd always wanted, and it ftr his character to jokingly maintain that they were wed for the rest of the game. And you have to admit Bowser's a funny guy, in all RPGs but Super Mario Galaxy he's a pretty likeable fellow; sure he's not perfect, but nobody is. And that includes Mario. Yes, it is very nice of him to help people out, but a lot of the time that could be done in self-interest. He loves Peach after all, and who wouldn't save their beloved? (Well, a coward wouldn't, but Mario's not a coward.) But he does seem to get around a lot: love scenes with Peach, Daisy and Pauline; plus in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door two, possibly three of his companions harboured feelings for him. And what'd they get for it? They got to save the world and get dumped as soon as Mario saves Peach and hightails it outta Rougeport. The same thing happened with his Paper Mario crew and the Pixls from Super Paper Mario.
A feel sorry for his parties, especially that Yoshi Kid from TTYD. That poor little guy had to carry big fat Mario all over; when he flutter jump, he strained and sweat was flying, it just wasn't pretty. And then he became a fighter for Mario, who he idolized as a father-of-sorts, sounds like a great life... fighting. The only thing that spares Mario from being labeled as a neglegent parent is that the Yoshi Kid likes whaling on people; of course, who's to blame for that? Yup, Mario. We're lucky Mario games are for little kids, that way we're spared the sight of hundreds of dead Koopas and Goombas littering the roadside as Mario clods along to save Peach. Once again, I'm not trying to excuse Bowser from the blame, it's his fault for continuously forcing Mario's hand and saying "but it was done for love" won't exonerate him, but Mario could always do his part to aleviate the collateral damage. The Goombas are in his way, they're Bowser's henchmen, they're trying to stop him, so okay, squish them. But Crazee Dayzees? Fuzzies? Do you really think these guys are part of Bowser's Koopa Troop? Amazee Dayzees run away as fast as they can, yet Mario must kill them with extreme prejudice just as he does away with the things that actually want to stop him? Is that really neccesary?
And what about the bad guys? You really feel no sympathy for them as they're mutilated (stomped Rexes), crippled (de-winged Paratroopas) and killed by Mario, or when they're eaten alive by Yoshi? And Yoshi's lot isn't much better than Yoshi Kid's, by the way. Have you ever noticed that in order to get him to stick his tongue out in Super Mario World Mario hits Yoshi over the head with his fist. Nice guy, and Yoshi calls him his friend? If I were Yoshi I'd buck Mario off for way more of that game than Ghost Houses, Fortresses and Castles. That game also bothers me in how the Koopalings fare. How old are they supposed to be? Teenagers? Preteens? Children? They're certainly not adults and yet Mario knocks them into lava and blows up their castles (or worse). Where I come from that's called Child Abuse. Of course you can argue that it's Bowser's fault for having his kids fight, but if that's the case than Mario should be getting the same grief for Yoshi Kid's story, since the Koopalings probably like fighting as much as Mario's adopted "son"; Bowser Jr. certainly does... Which brings us back to the whole Bowser's wife/love for "Mama" Peach thing.
Anyway, that's why I dislike Mario and like Bowser. Sorry for writing so much but I've spent years making a case against Mario and it's essay season in school so I'm in the mood for big, wordy, discussions. And I'll still be in the mood later if you wanna talk about my response to your question; after all, Mario is one of my most favorite conversational topics. Just don't get me started on his drug habits, those Super "Shrooms"? Yeesh! - Walkazo
- Alright, I'll hold off my responses to your comments until you're finished. And I have to say this is quite enjoyable, usually I discus this sorta stuff with people who agree with me, so actually having to staunchly defend my points against someone who clearly knows his Mario facts is quite invigorating! - Walkazo
First of all, I'm not Bowser's wife: my avatar looks like my made-up version of Bowser's wife. But she's pure fanon, and I'm talking about canocal stuff here. (If you want to discuss fanon stuff feel free to go read my fanfictions; they're highly bias yet very entertaining, particluarly my personal favorite, Queen of the Koopas)
Firstly, in YI Baby Bowser saw Yoshi and jumped on his back, knocking Mario off, Yoshi then bucked Bowser off and they had a fight (Bowser used his Ground Pound), Bowser lost and then Kamek started meddling. You're right that it was Bowser's faul for attacking, but kids will be kids, and he is a spoiled prince used to getting whatever he wants (which would mean, once again, that Kamek is to blame for his actions as he raised Bowser). In PiT Bowser tried to kidnap Peach only to lose a fight with the Mario Bros. and immediately after, he saved them all from the Shroobs; he didn't have to take Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toadsworth along on the Koopa Cruiser, but he did. The next entaglement between him and the "heros" was over a piece of the Cobalt Star needed to fix the time machine; Bowser thought it was part of his treasure hoard and thought the Mario Bros. were stealing it so he attacked. Later he took (back) the shard and another shard and ate them. That was stupid, but as I said before he's a kid, and kids are... well... stupid. Then he met his older self (but he didn't know it was him) and they teamed up and his older self got him to help fight the Mario Bros. once again, it was someone other than Baby Bowser getting him to fight (in this case it was still himself anyway, but you get the picture). Then Baby Bowser gets catapulted onto the Shroob mothership and appears just in time to complete the Cobalt Star, releasing Elder Princess Shroob and causing major guano; but that wasn't really his fault as Peach hadn't told any of the other characters that completing the Star was a bad thing. Plus, Bowser still (stubbornly) thought that the Star was his...
You have no way of knowing that Bowser just wants to ruin peoples' fun, but neither do I have any way of knowing he just wants to get revenge for being exluded. All I'm saying it is could be either one, or both, or perhaps some other motivation we haven't thought of yet; it's all up for debate and for interpretation by each person, I'm just saying you should try to see both sides of the coin before judging. Of course, you are right that Bowser shouldn't get away with ruining the parties 'cuz its amoral, but evil is in the eye of the beholder and from Mario & Co.'s perspective Bowser is in the wrong, but what about from his perspective...
For the Paper Marios you could be right about Bowser only wanting to save the world, same with Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, but my guess is they're other motivations. Like Peach, Bowser loves Peach and would obviously save her, just like he would save his kids, all of whom would be destroyed if the world came to an end. Saying he's just doing it so he can take over the world on a later sounds to me like a cheap excuse (on Bowser's part). However it fits Bowser's character to say that, and since we don't have any insight into his character beyond his words we can't really tell if he actually meant that or if it was just an excuse, or a combination of the two (which I think is most likely the case).
Yes funny guys aren't necessarily nice, but someone who seems like a jerk can always turn out to be nice. I know this one guy in real life who started out a chronic liar, a bit of a jerk, and totally self-centered (and he was funny). But then I started getting to know him and I realized that all those lies and bravado were just façades to mask the fact that he was actually a really likeable fellow. People do crazy stuff to save face, and after all those times Bowser's bumbled through life he's got lots to make up for. He was that little kid hell-bent on being "evil" after all, but a lot of the time he's been coming up a bit short (pardon the cuss, btw, but I wanted to maintain the phrase).
I didn't say Mario's love for Peach is the only reason he helps people, I just said it could possibly be one of the reasons he does what he does; I'm not trying to deny the fact that Mario's not a nice guy. I won't spoil TTYD for you but I'd just like to mention I don't actually think those things on Yoshis' backs are saddles; they stick out of the backs in all the recent Yoshi depictions and I think they look more like shells than saddles (y'know, like Grubba and Spike shells). As for the Pixls, he doesn't do anything to them he just sorta leaves them behind as soon as he's done with them. Sure, they probably have some things to do once he's gone, but I wouldn't want to be used like that.
What's the difference between those Koopas and Goombas and the ones that do talk? They have the same name, they look pretty much the same, just some of them talk and others don't. Do soldiers in real-life armies chit-chat with their enemies? No. To an outsider they could look like bugs too, and don't tell me bugs don't feel pain. I hate trying to squish an ant only to miss its vitals and watch it frantically drag its oozing body as I try to put it out of its misery with another betterly-aimed (sic) ball of tissue. The reason why these guys don't speak before you kill them is partly because of technical limitations, partly because most gamers won't bother talking to Goombas # 3-7 before knocking them out with a shell (making the inclusion of dialogue a waste of memory), and partly because it'd take the simplistic fun out of the games knowing that each of those Koopas has a name and family...
As for the fact that the enemies re-appear, you have to look at it objectively. The enemies re-appear because otherwise the game would stink, in "real life" Mario wouldn't redo those "levels", he'd keep going and not look back. The fact that when you fall down a pit and get Game Over and have to re-start the level is artificial; remember, in the Marioverse, Game Over is death, and death will come to you if you fall down a pit or run into a Microgoomba (as explained in Super Paper Mario); the only reason we get extra lives is because we're playing as Mario, and no one would like a game where it's one strike and you're out. This applies to the Koopalings in their SMW castles too (after all, why would Mario be hanging around beating up the Koopalings if Peach was safe and sound, now that would make him amoral). Also, I'm not sure about Super Mario Advance 2, but in the SNES SMW the castles stay kaput (i.e. piles of rubble on the map) and you need to use a special cheat code to get back in them, making it all the more clear they are, as far as the "story mode" - or whatever - of the game is concerned, they're no longer in existence.
Just because something hurts you when you walk into it doesn't mean its attacking you. Once I walked into a bush and got a cut by one of it's thorns, but I'm pretty sure that bush wasn't attacking me. In fact, I was more in the wrong by walking into it and probably damaging it. Also, if someone walks into you what do you do? Some people stumble away meekly; others swear and are discourteous (i.e. "Watch where you're going punk!"); and in the Marioverse, they attack. That may sound a bit violent, but animals defend themselves when they're threatened. If they're animals; I'm still sticking to my theory they're all intelligent... Except my Paratroopa brother, he's not so smart! (j/k)
Maybe you're right about SMW... I'll have to check that. About the Koopalings, they could simply be following orders/trying to get their dad to be proud of them. If they are kids you can hardly blame them for doing what they're told. Don't you listen to your parents? I do... msot of the time. Getting back on topic, since they are the heirs to the Koopa Throne, the Koopalings would have even more reason to follow Bowser's lead (and in turn lead their people). Yes, being a war criminal is not a good occupation, but there could very well me more stuff going on behind the scenes (once again, I suggest you read my fanfiction if you wanna see how I fictionally justified their actions). Also, while invading the Mushroom "World" in Super Mario Bros. 3 was totally wrong, I'm not so sure about SMW. Remember that Bowser had a castle on Yoshi's Island when he was a baby: it could mean that Dinosaur Land was actually under Koopa jurisdiction to begin with. Of course, I don't know that for sure: I don't have the SMW handbook (which sucks because I love the vast amounts of canocal information contained in those folios).
You haven't gotten far enough in TTYD to get my point about Marios' companions' love for him: I'm not talking about how he lets them kiss him (which is strange in itself; I wouldn't kiss a guy I just met nor would I let him kiss me, even if it was just on the cheek - I like keeping my personal bubble intact, thank you very much).
Anyway, that's my long-winded rebuttal to your long-winded response to my long-winded explanation (isn't this fun). You're right, I'm not convinced Mario's a little angel yet, but I do think less darkly of him now that you're told me he doesn't actually whack Yoshi over the head... For the record I don't actually hate Mario with a burning passion; my dislike mostly stems from the fact everything is centered around him and that lots of people blindly worship him as a wonderful hero when he does have some shady aspects about him. Having said that, I also doubt that I've convinced you that Mario isn't the greatest, but as I said before, I do hope you'll start looking at both sides of the story from now on and make your choices based on that. As you said, Mario's a pretty nice guy and I have no problem about people liking him as long as they know the other half of the story. - Walkazo - And yes, I am in Highschool... unfortunately.
- Yeah, it has been interesting. Anyway, you're right in that I meant little kids do weird things sometimes when I said "kids are stupid". I don't seriously think Yoshis have shells either, but it is strange how their saddles sick out from their backs (or that they're physically part of them)... Seventh Grade was my favorite Grade... not including Kindergarden, though try as I might I can't remember anything more than three or four fragmented images from kindergarden (;_;). I made the text small with: and . You make sub-pages by typing: CrystalYoshi/"subpage name" as a link, it will start out red then you just edit it. Okay, thanks. I also looked at some sprites from SMW which show that he's pointing, not using his fist. However, the sprite makes it look like he's pointing with his middle finger (as a result of graphical limitations) which I find rather amusing! Talk to ya later! - Walkazo

I'm awesome at Photoshop. The right guy to ask. I'll make you a guide to recoloring when I have the chance. :D It's very easy, once you get the hang of it. .

Hai! Thanks for the encouragement; I like to keep my page up. :D About the "innapropriate for kids" thing; can you be more specific? I know I have a few warnings for external links, but nothing really bad, right? I'm considering hacking another site, which do you think? Umm...
I know exactly how you feel with the "You Have New Messages" thing. BTW, how did you choose the colors of the Crystal Stars in your sig? Did you choose them by random, or what? Sorry, I was just wondering. Anti Dude (Sorry, sig isn't working)
No, I just forgot how to do it for a while. And those colors do look good together. Anti Dude
