Template:Species-infobox Buffaloafers[1] are enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. They are bovines African buffaloes and are only encountered in some levels of Bright Savannah. They wear a red bead necklace and sport a golden ring that pierces their snout.
Buffaloafers are initially found grazing on grass in one place. When they notice the Kongs, Buffaloafers start chasing them around in an attempt to ram their horns into them. If the characters jump on top of a Buffaloafer, the enemy tosses them in the air, causing the Kongs to lose control briefly but without inflicting damage.
When they are lured into a wall, Buffaloafers turn upside-down and reveal their bellies, where the Kongs can apply three stomp attacks to defeat them. They can also be turned on their backs if the Kongs collide with a roll attack into their ramming horns. Cranky Kong can perform three Cane Bounces on a Buffaloafer's back to defeat it more directly. The player can also lure the creatures off a ledge, although they will respawn in their inital spot if the Kongs leave their area and return.
Buffaloafers are solitary and can be found in Baobab Bonanza and Rickety Rafters, where they behave the way described above. In Frantic Fields, a Buffaloafer is flown away by the savannah storm and crashes into a wooden bridge, breaking it right in front of the characters.
