Template:Levelbox Seesaw Scramble (written See-Saw Scramble in the British English version) is the third level of World 2 in Yoshi's New Island. The level features many seesaws which the player must use to cross pits and advance through the level. In a later part of the level, the player enters a volcanic range where they must avoid Fire Wanwan Dosun that are launched from the background.

Layout

A Fire Wanwan Dosun found in the Seesaw Scramble.

At the start of the level, there is a seesaw above a pit, followed by a platform with two blue posts and an Egg Plant. Further ahead, there is series of seesaws and Item Balloons that drop missiles, Needlenoses and coins. There are also platforms with Koopa Troopas whose shells can be thrown under tight spaces to collect items. Afterwards, there is an area where Light-Blue Yoshi has to adjust a pair of red posts so he can overcome a high ledge, on top of which there is a Whirly Gate that leads him into a Jackhammer Yoshi course. Here, the Yoshi must drill through a series of stone blocks as he descends an underground tunnel, after which he is transported out onto a grassy field right before a Checkpoint Ring.

In this section of the level, Light-Blue Yoshi must avoid Fire Wanwan Dosun that rain down into pits and break through soft rock. After going up several platforms and walking past a field with Shy Guys and an Egg Plant, Light-Blue Yoshi must use two successive solid seesaws over a pit to reach a ledge where the Goal Ring is located.

Smiley Flowers

  • Smiley Flower 1: Immediately after a series of three wooden seesaws, there is an area with two green posts and a Koopa Troopa. The post on the left blocks a narrow opening to the level's first Smiley Flower. The Yoshi must first Ground Pound the post into the ground, then launch a Koopa Troopa shell through the opening to collect the Smiley Flower.
  • Smiley Flower 2: Shortly after the first Smiley Flower, Light-Blue Yoshi will encounter two solid seesaws over a pit. Above the second seesaw is a Winged Cloud which produces the second Smiley Flower when hit with an egg or an enemy.
  • Smiley Flower 3: Before the Whirly Gate, there is a hidden area in the ledge behind one of the red posts, where a door takes Light-Blue Yoshi to a bonus room with two large seesaws on the sides. Light-Blue Yoshi can jump off one of the seesaws to collect the third Smiley Flower.
  • Smiley Flower 4: Just after the third clock in the Whirly Gate section, Jackhammer Yoshi will encounter several stone blocks that he must break through in order to collect the fourth Smiley Flower.
  • Smiley Flower 5: After a field with two Shy Guys and an Egg Plant in the Fire Wanwan Dosun area, there are two solid seesaws that lead to the Goal Ring. If Light-Blue Yoshi tips the second seesaw to the right, two rows of coins will spawn ahead. Tossing an egg in the direction of these coins will reveal a hidden Winged Cloud which, when hit, produces the fifth Smiley Flower.
