Transparent images
Please stop reverting images to older transparency ones. The ones you're reverting to are either smaller or have poorly done/unofficial transparency. A white background is fine. 13:39, 20 June 2018 (EDT) Hi. It's Ben. @Alex95. Some of the images are large enogh but need transparency.
- They don't exactly need transparency. If the official image has transparency, then great. But if not, there's no need to add it. The transparency for artwork should be official and not manually done. 13:47, 20 June 2018 (EDT)
@Alex95 thanks but the imgaes may need better transparency. If the transparency gets the image smaller, then I won't edit it.
- That's not what I meant. If the transparency isn't official, the artwork image shouldn't have it. 13:51, 20 June 2018 (EDT)
Thanks guys for the comments. @Alex95 Thanks for the point. @Toadette the Achiever Your welcome!
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (reverting to lower-quality images) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site. If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
You're continuing to ignore our advice and still are reverting to lower-quality images. There was no point to this revision, all you did was make the image smaller. Enough. Keep it up and you'll receive a last warning, followed by a ban. 14:10, 20 June 2018 (EDT)
@Alex95 Should stop for now!
- Yeah, you should. And no need to pull up our signatures, just type out our names. Much easier that way. 14:21, 20 June 2018 (EDT)
Well. Can you make the image larger for this picture this revision?
@Alex95 okay. Crop it. Why not? Edit: Can you help me edit images! @Alex95
Okay! @Alex95 Should I use PNG Monstrous?
FYI
Hi there. Just a quick tip, no user but the admins can possibly edit your userpage at all. I know from experience that admins like Alex95 can, but they'll only do that if your page interferes with the rest of the wiki. For example, mine was edited because I accidentally added it to a mainspace category. Anyway, no need to worry about your userpage being vandalized. Welcome, by the way.

- There also actually are a few spelling mistakes, "us" should be "is" and "plumber" has a b in it. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:33, 20 June 2018 (EDT)
Oh Ok, Benjamin Kirsch!
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Benjaminkirsc (talk).
RE:Kinda curious
You're confusing me... Did you find officially transparent artwork that you would like to upload as a PNG? (T|C) 09:24, 19 August 2018 (EDT)
Nah. But I need help here. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 11:00, 19 August 2018 (EDT)
You can change some pictures when it's non transpacey, make a PNG, to make policy, as you can do on some WarioWare Gold picture? Like the 9-Volt.
Page galleries
Images should not be on a page's gallery section if they're already on the page elsewhere. That is just how it works here, we don't want redundant images. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:43, 12 December 2018 (EST)
- How unfourtne and sorry. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 18:32, 12 December 2018 (EST)

Padding
Don't add padding to articles, like "video" to "video game", the year and system it was released for, etc. for the sake of making information appear longer. See MarioWiki:Good_writing#Padding_and_pseudo-walkthroughs. Mario JC 19:16, 13 February 2019 (EST) Ow shucks. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 19:19, 13 February 2019 (EST)
- You have done this again, as the wording was better and more fluid when it was shorter in that case. Please remember to not pad out pages for the sake of making them longer in the future. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk) 19:05, 17 February 2019 (EST)
- I have fixed your mistake. And ohh. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 19:08, 17 February 2019 (EST)
- Please do not alter other user's comments, even if they do contain typos. Doomhiker (talk) 19:10, 17 February 2019 (EST)
- Excuse me. Why? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 15:41, 18 February 2019 (EST)
- Because altering other user's comments is rude and it changes what they said even though they did not actually say that thing, and it can change the intent of the comment. Doomhiker (talk) 3:50, 18 February 2019 (EST)
- There was a mistake in the sentence. Sorry for what you think. That made me uncombartable changing other users. I'll not to do this again. Promise? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:17, 20 February 2019 (EST)

It's not padding if the words add meaning to the information. Please stop removing certain words and labelling them as such. Mario JC 00:49, June 29, 2020 (EDT)
- Mario jc, sorry. I stopped padding and then I remove certain words. I need a little help with more advice. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 08:37, June 30, 2020 (EDT)
Austrilla
You've been misspelling this quite often: it's spelled "Australia", not "Austrilla". We're not a 164-foot monster. :P Mario JC 19:21, 20 February 2019 (EST) Thanks for fixing me. Im sorry for being bad a spelling. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 18:40, 21 February 2019 (EST)
RE:New things
Nothing much right now, just trying to help out where I can. And creating articles on DK: Jungle Climber levels every now and then. Why do you ask? (T|C) 16:17, August 25, 2020 (EDT)
- Thanks Benjaminkirsc (talk) 16:56, August 30, 2020 (EDT)
RE: Question
Can you be more specific? Mario JC 00:56, September 1, 2020 (EDT)
- More specific? okay? I need to know why I keep getting reverted after trying to help? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 08:42, September 18, 2020 (EDT)
- Because mistakes happen. Every relatively new user goes through that, it's not something you should take personally. I'm not seeing any recent cases of this anyway; if you're referring to Don't Wake Wiggler!, you simply misunderstood the rewrite notice. The section is about the ending animation, not the criteria for finishing the minigame, and it needs info on what the animation looks like when no one earns any points. Mario JC 10:15, September 18, 2020 (EDT)
- You know this wiki's reverts are pretty serious TBH, Benjaminkirsc (talk) 10:19, September 18, 2020 (EDT)

Additional stuff about MKL: Home Circuit
Adding to what Keyblade Master said per his response to your question on your talk page - not only was that info which you were trying to add character specific, it still falls under speculation because it's still early in the game's release for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit; we seriously do not know if there are any further plans later on to add other characters to this installment. This is not a general Mario Kart installment, per se, just so you know. We appreciate your understanding on this. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 09:49, October 17, 2020 (EDT)
- M.C, before you say it is speculation, DLC or updates are de facto not seen yet. And unless they attach DLC and updates, that is possibly true depicting early release. If this statement false by when DLC or updates are released, tell me. In addition, this game was only released yesterday, this is way too soon to say that the Peach and Yoshi update, so it still falls under speculation until the game isn't supported anymore, understand me. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 10:15, October 17, 2020 (EDT)
Grammar fixes
Please pay closer attention to the sentences when making grammar fixes. While some of those fixes were right, a number of them were incorrect (see this and this).
For example, your Super Mario Bros. edit
- If you read the paragraph, "In other worlds" is correct in the context ("In worlds 3-1 and A-3, there are warp zones placed beyond the goals. In other worlds..."); it's not a typo of "In other words".
- "A close-up of Mario from Super Mario Bros. as well as a picture from said game are unlockable backgrounds", not "is" since there are two subjects (the close-up and the picture).
Your Super Mario Bros. 35 edit
- Reading this sentence: "It is exclusively available to Nintendo Switch Online members and released on October 1, 2020, is available until March 31, 2021" doesn't make sense. "Being" is grammatically correct.
- "It becomes the swimming variant if transferred into a water level, but the jumping variant if transferred into a non-water level." "If" is correct here.
Quality-check edits like those are appreciated, just try to be more careful you don't accidentally change what was already correct. Mario JC 21:20, October 17, 2020 (EDT)
Oh, I used Grammarly, sorry if Grammarly is not the experience. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 07:13, October 19, 2020 (EDT)
Unlucky Space
When you get a chance, could you take another look at the Unlucky Space proposal? Your current vote doesn't have anything to do with the scope of the proposal. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 18:13, October 25, 2020 (EDT)
- Oh sorry, I'll be right back to it. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 18:17, October 27, 2020 (EDT)
RE:Reverse Space
But do they actually function differently from the Mario Party 9/10 Back Spaces? If not, then they should remain in the future Back Space (random) article, as subject names can and do change over time. (T|C) 21:04, October 28, 2020 (EDT)
- Thanks so much for your explaining. This is just my idea. You can have a different reason. =) Benjaminkirsc (talk) 07:18, October 29, 2020 (EDT)
Ashley & Red Proposal
Hey man, so I'm no administrator or anything, but I just wanted to mention you shouldn't call someone else's proposal stupid. I saw your vote and it came across as a bit harsh to say the proposal was "stupid, dumb and should not happen". I'm just suggesting you remove those comments; I've seen others get in trouble before for that kinda behavior and I just wanna help out in this case. Thanks for your time. Tails777 Talk to me!22:04, October 31, 2020 (EDT)
- Oh sorry, I didn't like that proposal at all, thanks for correcting me. Did someone edit my comment? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 06:38, November 1, 2020 (EST)

No quorum
The proposal ended in a no quorum due to rule 8, so your edits will have to be reverted. --DarkNight 14:50, November 7, 2020 (EST)
- DarkNight that makes no sense. Can you make it more clear? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:51, November 7, 2020 (EST)
- Rule 8 states: Any proposal that has three votes or less at deadline will automatically be listed as "NO QUORUM." The original proposer then has the option to relist said proposal to generate more discussion. The proposal had 3 votes. --DarkNight 14:54, November 7, 2020 (EST)
- Oh thanks, DarkNight. I'll remember next time. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:55, November 7, 2020 (EST)

Settled proposal handling
Somewhat building on DarkNight's message above, I wanted to bring up a few things about how you handled those proposals today. As you already know, the Back Space proposal should have been marked as no quorum, but also, you shouldn't always just plough ahead and enact the proposal by yourself- it's polite to at least check with the proposer first, as often they will have their own plan for getting it done. Also the second proposal that passed the deadline did not need to be ended, but rather extended- no one option had a strong majority, and hence the proposal required a third and final extension of a week. Also, any completed proposals need to be archived, rather than just adjusting the proposal. I'd recommend that you take some time to familiarise yourself with the rules on the proposals page before you make any changes like this in the future- both of these are relatively uncommon cases, but the rules do give clear guidance on what to do, and it's a good idea to get into the process of archiving any proposals that you end. BBQ Turtle (talk) 17:58, November 7, 2020 (EST)
- Thanks for info. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 18:46, November 7, 2020 (EST)
Back Space
I restarted the Back Space proposal since it ended in a no quorum. Feel free to recast your vote.
Also, regarding your earlier question about the Wings proposal, that's largely due to the wiki's rules about dealing with proposals ending with inadequate consensus. (T|C) 23:41, November 7, 2020 (EST)
- Thanks Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:13, November 9, 2020 (EST)
Moving pages
When moving pages and files, make sure to change any links leading to the old name to the new name. You can find them by clicking the "What links here" on the toolbar on the left when viewing the original name's article. Changing the namespace search to Templates will allow you to get rid of most links, and then when the cache clears, you can do the rest. 14:35, November 19, 2020 (EST)
- Thanks, Alex95. I like that. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 19:40, November 22, 2020 (EST)
Reverse Space
You're thinking of a different discussion entirely, one that had nothing to do with Reverse Space. As for the discussion that actually talked about the Reverse Space, all I said was that I'm not sure if they're different from the Mario Party 9 variant of Back Space; I never actually agreed to the split.
That said, upon observing how Reverse Spaces work in Mario Party 3 (EDIT: specifically in Backtrack), yes, now I do agree that they deserve their own article. (T|C) 13:52, November 24, 2020 (EST)
- Oh, thanks for explaining. That makes much more sense. I asking a reasonable person for help to swap page titles. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 13:59, November 24, 2020 (EST)
- Okay. Though as a more effective approach, you can also email the admins at mwikisysops@gmail.com (even though I did so already). (T|C) 14:06, November 24, 2020 (EST)
- Oh yeah, that's true. I asked Mario jc. When did you email the admins? I emailed Mario jc at 2:03 pm. Otherwise, thanks for emailing the admins. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:14, November 24, 2020 (EST)

This split was not proposed. Make sure you're also italicising game titles (Mario Party 3 should be formatted as Mario Party 3). Mario JC 19:49, November 24, 2020 (EST)
- Mario jc thanks for helping with that info for italicizing. However (I'm going to be bold and brave), Mario jc, I don't know why you said that there was no proposal. Per number two (proposed by Archivist Toadette), it was decided to have a split. Please look at proposal 2 before merging back info again. Anyway, there were two proposals, the first was not enough voters (3 votes), and the second was a split (6 votes). As I said, please look on the talk page for proposal splits before you merging info back.
I feel like this proposal isn't powerful after a split is true when people say now we can't split.Benjaminkirsc (talk) 08:44, November 25, 2020 (EST)- You'll have to do another proposal to split them out; as Mario jc said, I never explicitly covered the Backtrack Reverse Spaces in my previous proposal. (T|C) 09:18, November 25, 2020 (EST)
- Oh, precisely. I'll reverse what I said to Mario jc. Thanks. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 09:26, November 25, 2020 (EST)

YouTube sources
YouTube videos can be pretty reliable sources, actually, you just have to check them. The source I've reverted links to a speedrun, which backs up the claim of the shortest route in New Super Mario Bros. Ray Trace(T|C) 19:05, November 25, 2020 (EST)
- Wikipedia names them as unreliable. Please give me the link to see if YouTube is a relieable source. Thanks. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 08:07, November 26, 2020 (EST)
- Wikipedia has different criteria for citation for MarioWiki: they forbid original research and want academic sources or news articles. On the other hand, this wiki is written entirely with the foundation of original research, and thus, YouTube videos are acceptable sources here. Our citation policy allows YouTube videos to be cited. Ray Trace(T|C) 14:22, November 26, 2020 (EST)
- Also, by the way, Wikipedia does allow YouTube links but they are held to scrutiny, just like I did here. If you want to see if a video is properly sourced, you have to watch it yourself. Ray Trace(T|C) 14:26, November 26, 2020 (EST)
- Of course Ray Trace, I hope you helped me here with that guide Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:51, November 26, 2020 (EST)
- You're welcome. I think the only source we unilaterally disallow is VGChartz for sales data, but everything should be explained to you in MarioWiki:Citation. If you have any further questions on whether a source is good or not, you should ask around. Ray Trace(T|C) 14:57, November 26, 2020 (EST)

Appearance
For one, the edit itself wasn't vandalism. Just a little weird. The odd aspect of it was removed and implemented properly, so there's nothing wrong with the Appearance section. Now, it could probably be incorporated into the opening paragraph, as I think there isn't much to the appearance, but the information itself isn't vandalism. 15:50, November 30, 2020 (EST)
- Thanks Alex95. The user who started the appearance section was vandalism, and I thought the whole section was vandalism. However, you caught me there by saying a person reduces the vandal in that section. You caught me on this one. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 15:57, November 30, 2020 (EST)
- I would just like to add that I think an appearance section could still be worthwhile. There's more that can be said about it, such as how its head colours are different from Dino Piranha's, its feet, its curly red tail bob thingy when you break open its shell, potentially even the egg's design itself. However, it's fine for now, and it won't be necessary to add the appearance section until I or someone add this extra information. MarioComix (talk) 18:08, November 30, 2020 (EST)

A few things about your edits
I've noticed a lot of problems with your edits, and I want to go over some and expand on why they are a problem. I also would like you to reread the messages you have here on your talk page.
- First of all, you seem to be very misunderstanding how proposals work. I explained some things here, but even with that, you still did not expand on the proposal properly. Similar case here and your comment at the bottom here tell me you really need to give MarioWiki:Proposals a proper reading before you do anything further with proposals.
- You cannot tell people to not remove your edits, as you did here and here. Doing so defeats the very purpose of the wiki. You do not have the authority to keep edits as they are.
- Related to that, if an admin says something should stay, you talk to them instead of undoing it yourself. This is undermining admin authority.
- In regards to vandalism efforts, while I'm glad you're trying to help, you are having some missteps in how to handle it. A comment like this does nothing, vandals will not care. The hidden comments are usually meant to provide notes to actual editors. This is not vandalism (and the edit is another instance of ignoring admin authority), and trying to convey with vandals doesn't really work, either. Just revert and let an admin know, either by their talk page or through MarioWiki:Admin noticeboard. You should also give MarioWiki:Vandalism a read, it will explain more on what to look for.
- Grammarly does not help because it can't make the distinction between fiction and reality and will sometimes even conflict with our Manual of Style.
I notice you have a hard time explaining yourself, but I can't tell if you're even making an effort to improve on it. Please ask for help if you aren't sure what to do, and don't start things if you're not sure how to do them. I'm not saying you should stop editing altogether, and I understand there are a lot of things to keep in mind, but there's a lot of improvement that needs to happen on your part.
Thanks for reading, and keep editing. 16:25, December 6, 2020 (EST)
- Thanks. Please try to help in all of my future so that I can strive. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 17:03, December 6, 2020 (EST)
- I know that Alex already low-key mentioned this when dealing with a user I blocked, but you need to stop inserting yourself in situations where another user is getting reprimanded. It violates our courtesy policy. Ray Trace(T|C) 15:00, December 8, 2020 (EST)

Art Practice
Can I ask how you got the gameplay information? Mario JC 22:29, December 10, 2020 (EST)
- Hi. Did I get something wrong? I do not know if any websites list them. Thanks so much for asking. If anyone has the actual gameplay, then that is helpful. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:08, December 11, 2020 (EST)
- He is asking where you got the gameplay information, not if it was wrong. --DarkNight 14:12, December 11, 2020 (EST)
- Thanks DarkNight. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:13, December 11, 2020 (EST)

Proposals
Letting you know the PictoChat proposal has been canceled per admin input. Since this is your second proposal to be canceled, after the one on Castle (WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!), I feel like I should give you some advice on how to manage them.
- Don't rush into things. Regarding the Castle page, you made a proposal when the proposed action from the previous proposal could already be enacted. For PictoChat, the conversation before it didn't finish and there didn't seem to be any real need for a proposal.
- Expand on your points. When people ask you for more information, you tend to respond with "But what did I do wrong?" or "Sorry, my bad!" or something similar. These are unhelpful. They are asking for information, not excuses. You may know what you are going for, but you need to make it clear what your points are so everyone else knows what you are going for. (This isn't only in reference to proposals, you've done this with Mario jc's question above, as an example.)
- Ask for help. Given your previous two attempts, you don't seem to be ready to manage a proposal yet. Take a look at previous proposals and see what goes into them, the points they make, and how people respond to them. If you're not sure what needs to be done or if you need help with the proposal itself, please ask someone to help you.
