Image uploads
Hello, Sdman213. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the aboutfile template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using aboutfile incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Hello, Sdman213. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: or Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Thanks for uploading the missing images, but keep in mind the parameters you need to fulfill when doing so. For the category, in this case it would be . 13:34, 30 October 2017 (EDT)
- Additionally, when categorizing images, please be sure to use brackets (

) instead of curly braces, as the latter transcludes the category contents onto the page instead of actually categorizing it. Thanks! (T|C) 18:58, 5 July 2018 (EDT)
Transparency
One last thing regarding images: it's usually inadvisable to crop artwork just to make it transparent (unless, of course, the artwork's transparency is official). Is the transparency you added to your recent uploads official? If not, I'll have to revert all of them to their previous revisions. Thank you. (T|C) 21:52, 5 July 2018 (EDT)
- Oh, ok, sorry about that, the images with backgrounds I tried to crop myself, you can revert if necessary SDMAN 21:56, 5 July 2018 (EDT)
Sorry about that, clearly I didn't check the website to see for myself. My bad. (T|C) 00:37, 9 August 2018 (EDT)
- No problem, you want to help re-upload the images with white BGs, I'm sorry for any unofficial transparency, and am trying to right his in anyway I can SDMAN 00:40, 9 August 2018 (EDT)
Game titles
Game titles are usually completely written out and italicized, even if it is already written in the same paragraph or infobox and seems redundant. Also, when reverting edits, make sure you are not reverting valid parts of edits as well. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 17:13, 30 July 2018 (EDT)
- Oh ok thanks, sorry for any confusion SDMAN 17:19, 30 July 2018 (EDT)
Image Gallery Preview Recent Edit Activities
Hello, I see that we've been both trying to find common ground the past few days regarding image gallery preview section candidates for certain Mario female articles (especially the Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina ones). I believe we've finally good on the ones for the Princess Daisy gallery preview section; but can you tell me why you still want this picture and this picture to remain in the gallery preview sections of the Peach and Rosalina articles respectively? Just wondering about that; please reply soon. Thanks in advance. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 10:54, 8 October 2018 (EDT)
Hey, I was just trying to be consistent with other characters, such as Wario and Toad having at least 6 pictures in their preview galleries. I also feel that both of them in their gymnastic outfits show variety and their poses do show their personalities, so I feel they do have a spot in the gallery. --Sdman213 - Profile 12:08, 8 October 2018 (EDT)
- Hey, on that recent edit you did, it's not really "redundant" in this case because there weren't many promo pictures done featuring Rosalina in Mario game installments (and it's still recommended to target promo artworks of characters related to their involvement in the game installments themselves). However, I do agree that when more promo artworks of Rosalina get done for upcoming game installments (when announced by Nintendo) and when they release, the said gallery preview section for the article could use some revision for showing which pictures would best represent Rosalina for the article itself. Thanks in advance for understanding. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 00:41, 12 October 2018 (EDT)
Infobox images
It doesn't matter what's more "neutral," the rules are that the newest artwork goes inside, with the only exceptions I can think of being ones that are extremely stylized or holding an object that isn't intrinsically linked to the character. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:08, 9 October 2018 (EDT)
Galleries
Actually, we prefer to avoid all cases of image redundancies on a page. The "all artwork" thing only applies if the gallery is on a separate page. Otherwise, infobox images should not be in the gallery. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:25, 19 November 2018 (EST)
- When adding images to a gallery, the entire gallery does not need to be italicized as seen here, as this often italicizes the sections after the gallery, not the gallery itself, and galleries should only be italicized in the names of games, which you already seem to be doing. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk) 14:37, 14 January 2019 (EST)
Yoshi group art
But in that case, wouldn't it have been made for the original? Anyways, if you're sure, please change all references to said image from SMW2 links and gallery to the SMA3 one. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:04, 9 January 2019 (EST)
Should be, since the art in Red Yoshi's gallery links to SMA3. User:Sdman213 19:05, 9 January 2019 (EST)
"This is artwork, not a sprite"
Given it's only seen in-game as a character select/vs. image, I'd say they are by definition sprites. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:37, 15 January 2019 (EST)
"different canon"
There is no canon. See MarioWiki:Canonicity. Everything should be treated relatively equally, with the exception of the old live action film (due to being so absolutely different, if still enjoyable). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:32, 19 January 2019 (EST)
Yoshi's Story
The manual actually generically identifies each Yoshi in the game generically as "Yoshi" in sections like "Yoshi's mood," "Yoshi's moves," et cetera. It not being listed on the page is probably a relic from when it was assumed all "Yoshi" characters were the same individual. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:09, 10 February 2019 (EST)
DK94
Many, many, many enemies in the Game Boy Donkey Kong harmlessly push Mario along if they touch him. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:45, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Gallery
That's fine, I just wanted an explanation for your edits. What I generally do is mix up the gallery with screenshots, logos, and group art, as well as character artwork as I believe that's more illustrative of an article gallery than just solo character artwork. Reminder
This reminder has been overturned by the MarioWiki staff. The original reminder can still be viewed. |

Please stop making unconstructive edits on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
Hello there! You taking credit for my edits is not cool at all and your edits are not either. So please stop and if you take credit again a warning will be issued! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits) 21:01, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
- No one is "taking credit" for anything here, and this isn't a warnable offence to begin with. If there was a problem with an edit, a simple message would have sufficed, not a reminder. Mario JC 21:15, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
- On the 3ds page it went like this
- Me: +Game gallery
- Sdman213: -Game gallery
- Sdman213: +Game gallery
- POINTLESS AND TAKES CREDIT![-]€40 vv@(talk · edits) 21:18, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
- That doesn't make any sense. He didn't take credit for anything; he made an edit and then went back on it. 21:24, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
Enemy counts
I see you removed the enemy counts on the Scary Skeleton Goonies! article. I understand why, but I don't want this to open up a can of worms causing this to happen with other level articles. Many other articles do this, usually in the form of a table. Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) 21:07, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
- I am on the watch for this user with his 3rd reminder! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits) 21:09, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
I will say though, you should give a reason other than simply "Unnecessary" when removing content or undoing edits next time, as I've noticed you've been doing this quite often. There was a proposal to include enemy counts, and it's useful information anyway, so I don't see how it's unnecessary at all. Mario JC 23:37, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
Oops, my bad... Understood. Sdman213 23:38, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
- Ok thank you for understanding and please don’t delete my edits and redo them. That makes it seem like you are taking credit for my edits. Thank you for understanding. [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits) 09:48, April 16, 2019 (EDT)
- I was talking to Mario jc, I wasn't taking cresit for your edits... I simply went back on the edit... that doesn't mean I took credit...

Dr. Luigi/Peach/Bowser art
Is the source for the Dr. Luigi, Peach and Bowser artwork correct? The official website doesn't appear to use these images. Mario JC 00:29, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
Oops hang on, think I forgot to correct the source, found them off twitter, I'll fix it real quick. Sdman213 00:56, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- Thanks for that, though it looks like you upscaled them and uploaded them as png when they were originally jpg, which goes against policy. It's possible you accidentally saved them as png after you cropped them, but keep in mind that images should be uploaded in the format they were found in (additionally, cropping is fine of course, but upscaling them is discouraged as it only makes it blurrier).
