The Crown is an item in the SNES and PC releases of Mario's Time Machine. It is the crown used by the United Kingdom's monarchs in the 1500's during their reign. In Mario's Time Machine, Bowser travels back in time to London in 1595 to steal the crown, and Mario later takes it back so that he can return it to the then-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth I. However, before Mario can return the Crown to her, he needs to talk to various other people, including Francis Drake, about the queen's history and other contemporary facts. If Mario shows the crown to anyone else, they recognize that it belongs to the queen and refuse to accept it. After Mario has gathered enough information, he can finally deliver the crown to the queen, who gratefully accepts and knights Mario in gratitude.
