- “Peach-bots! SPEAK!!!”
- —Cackletta, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Peach-bots are robots that appear in the Game Boy Advance game Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. They were created by the evil witch Cackletta and her accomplice, Fawful. The Peach-bots are made to look like Princess Peach and are programmed to play a perfect copy of her voice, which was stolen during the events of the game. The villains intend to use the voice to awaken the Beanstar, a magical and mystical object which is said to grant wishes and fulfill anyone's greatest desires. Cackletta and Fawful go to Woohoo Hooniversity in secret to awaken the Beanstar, where Fawful is making some final adjustments to one of the three Peach-bots. He then gives the cue to Cackletta to activate them. She pushes a button on a remote control, which then makes the Peach-bots speak. For a few seconds, everything seems to be going to plan. But them something strange and unexpected happens. The calm green of the Beanstar turns an angry shade of red, and then it begins to float up in the air. It then comes crashing down to the ground in an uncontrollable rage, creating holes in the floor and sending the peach-bots plummeting to the floor below.
Later, when Mario and Luigi investigate, they find the Beanstar breathing hard on the floor, but it seemed to be recovering. But suddenly, a Peach-bot which didn't quite make it to the floor immediately then falls, and its voice sets off the Beanstar again.
It was revealed later on that the stolen voice belonged to Birdo, as the Princess was switched before the villains stole her voice. This explains why the Peach-bots's voice drove the Beanstar mad, instead of awakening it as planned.
