The Ghosts are a group of four characters that make up the main antagonists of the Pac-Man franchise. The group consists of Blinky, Inky, Pinky, and Clyde, four ghosts of different colors. In the original Pac-Man, the four ghosts chase after Pac-Man in their own way. The group's leader is Blinky.
Blinky in particular first appears in the Mario series in Mario Kart Arcade GP as a playable character, taking his design from the Pac-Man World games. He later appears in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, though does not appear in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX.
The entire group later appears as a collective Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, taking their appearance from the original Pac-Man arcade game. The Ghosts fly around the screen, damaging any players they touch and knocking them away. After a while, they speed up before leaving the screen. The Ghosts also appear on the Pac-Maze stage, in which they again damage the player if they are hit. Collecting a Power Pellet causes the ghosts to turn to blue on the player's screen, allowing the player to "eat" the ghosts like in the original game. The Ghosts also appear as Pac-Man's smash attacks.
