So, as I pointed out when updating the [[Sarasaland]] page, there are a lot of issues regarding translations within the ''Super Mario Land'' series. Like, major, really. I saw the enemies' page-names were the correctly translated, however. Should we do the same with Sarasaland and the names of all the other stuff that wasn't done properly, or what? Piraputo is still called Birabuto, even. :Well, we can't change any page titles if that's what you mean, since all those names come from the manual, and so, incorrectly romanized or not, they're official. Better to just add {{tem|foreignname}} showing the original names and proper romanizations and translations and just make notes there and/or elsewhere in the page that the names don't follow the (current) rules. - [[User:Walkazo|Walkazo]] 18:31, 4 June 2014 (EDT) | :Well, we can't change any page titles if that's what you mean, since all those names come from the manual, and so, incorrectly romanized or not, they're official. ::But where were the enemies referred to correctly outside the manual, then? Because in the manual they use the Japanese names like Sarasaland does, but their wiki pages are named with the correct translations. Also, Sarasaland has officially been referred to as Sarasa Land, too, as we mention on the page. Oh, one more thing. Why do you post your replies on your talk page? Status: Life keeps me busy, but I always make time for the wiki, so if you have any questions or concerns or need help with anything, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.
Please
stop your external links. It is a SMW page you were linking to, so why put an external link to an SMW page? The adress was http://www.mariowiki.com/, so dont do an external link next time. Use the wiki link for a wiki page. Unshy Guy (talk)

Changing username
So does that mean I can have one more change??
Crapfully yours, SuperFlameGuy (talk) (for now)
- Yep, you're allowed two name changes per year. - Walkazo 22:14, 26 November 2013 (EST)
Re:Autopatrol
Curious, but what exactly went wrong with the process? Ray Trace(T|C) 20:00, 11 December 2013 (EST)
Re: Autopatrolled Rank
- Sure will try. Your response on Baby Luigi's talk page already answered any questions I had, and yeah it's definitely being put to better use. Funny how removing the rank created to make patrolling edits easier makes it much easier for the administrative team. :D GBAToad (talk) 08:05, 12 December 2013 (EST)
Re: Autopatrolled Rank
Very well, I understand. To be honest, I'm not that active on the wiki anymore anyway, so that one occasional autopatrolled edit doesn't really make a difference. Thanks for your trust! Lakituthequick 09:16, 12 December 2013 (EST)
Question
How do you know what the timestamp to put in for the new stub template is? Is it to do with what revision it is, or time of day? Yoshi876 (talk)
- Just use
{{SUBST:New stub}}
and it automatically creates a timestamp giving the stub one week from that moment. As long as the template's placed on the stub the same day, that's all that needs to be done: the specific hour and minute don't matter. - Walkazo 20:37, 20 December 2013 (EST)
Proposal
I read your comments on my proposal, and I agree with you. I wasn't aware of the inconsistency and how the header text would look bare without such information on some articles. So I guess the best thing to do is to delete it. MegaKoopa (talk) 06:20, 26 December 2013 (EST)
- Done. Also, just so you know, you need to set up the signature stuff so that the raw coding isn't pasted onto pages. Help:Signature explains how to do it. - Walkazo 19:48, 26 December 2013 (EST)
Hello
193.202.110.184 is vandalizing my talk. Please block them.
- I already did - that's why I logged in in the first place =) - Walkazo 17:41, 27 December 2013 (EST)
- Thank you. I can only get so many insults =)
- Don't think of it that way: it's just another kind of spam. - Walkazo 17:49, 27 December 2013 (EST)
- Oh, I know- I'm the owner of my own wiki where more than 20 spammers appear a day.
Zakipaul
Hello again, Walkazo. The user Zakipaul keeps creating the same fanmade pages over and over again, even after receiving a warning and a last warning. Please keep an eye on him. Thank you.

- OK then, sorry for being too late.

Is it possible to move it? ~~ Boo4761
- Yeah, go ahead. It's early enough that you can still do it yourself. Don't bother archiving it on the proposal page or anything. - Walkazo 14:58, 2 January 2014 (EST)

that account was created a minute ago and the person created there talkpage advertising something indicating that they are a spammer
sorry my english no good but I dont want to create one account I just read the pages here
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.27.65.37 (talk).
Whilst I'm not sure it's spam, it could just be a link to their personal website, as seen by the web blog. Though it is very odd that a lot of accounts are being created with names that could be actual names and so there may be a connection. Yoshi876 (talk)
- @anon: Thanks for the heads-up. It was their own talk page that they created so they indeed haven't broken any rules, but we'll keep an eye on the account to make sure it doesn't start spamming. - Walkazo 18:36, 2 January 2014 (EST)
i speak french the website is in french and it is advertizing e cigarets which are just as bad for your helth as real cigarets they are trying to advertize a product that is bad for you
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.27.65.37 (talk).
- And trying to pass it off as architecture and/or a blog about song lyrics. Yeah, this is not something we need on the wiki. I will block the account and delete the page. Thanks again for bringing all this to my attention. - Walkazo 19:05, 2 January 2014 (EST)
similar accounts
i also noticed on the creation log that some accounts with real names are being created do you think they are related in any way?
and please dont add the unsined because i dont no how to sign coments
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.27.65.37 (talk).
- I have to add the "unsigned" template, otherwise it's hard to keep track of conversations. If you add ~~~~ to the end of your comments, that should create an automatic signature. Anyway, it is possible that those other accounts are indeed attempts to spam, but as long as they don't actually do anything after creation, it's nothing to worry about (and usually, if they were going to do something, they'd do it right away). - Walkazo 19:52, 2 January 2014 (EST)

spam
no need to worry someone alredy dealed with it WooftheChomp (talk) 20:38, 2 January 2014 (EST)
but i have a feeling that these accounts with real names are being created by the same person WooftheChomp (talk) 20:41, 2 January 2014 (EST) because another one was just created
- Unfortunately, spam accounts like that are an inevitable part of the wiki experience, but it's nothing we can't handle. As for what you do with an account, you can use it to alert admins of problems or even undo bad edits yourself if you see trouble; if you know the name of an enemy in French, you can add it to the "Names in other languages" section; if you're reading and you see little mistakes here and there, you can fix them; and if you simply want to read and not edit, you can do that too: it's completely your choice. - Walkazo 23:25, 2 January 2014 (EST)
i guess i can only look for bad edits because every game i have playd it has the enemy and someone has alredy aded the french name so i dont no what enemys do not have there french name added, but since they are out there i coud ad them but i do not have the game they belong to WooftheChomp (talk) 11:34, 3 January 2014 (EST)
- No worries: just do what you can - every little bit helps. - Walkazo 12:03, 3 January 2014 (EST)
Edit War
There's currently an edit war in the Mario Kart DS article. Can you handle it? Ray Trace(T|C) 13:34, 4 January 2014 (EST)
- I've already issued a warning to TVtrash to stop. Should he continue, please fully protect the page for one day. NSY (talk)
- I'm just alerting an admin about this, just in case he continues so we don't get flaked for it either, so the admin can do her job. Ray Trace(T|C) 13:43, 4 January 2014 (EST)
- Thanks for the heads-up. Hopefully the warning will be enough to stop him from making more edits. Protecting the page over a Trivia point is not something I wish to do. - Walkazo 13:49, 4 January 2014 (EST)

what is a edit war? WooftheChomp (talk) 13:54, 4 January 2014 (EST)
- When users keep undoing each other's edits over and over. - Walkazo 13:58, 4 January 2014 (EST)
i am sory
but i can not comply with some of the rules here could you terminate my acount to get me out of this mess? WooftheChomp (talk) 16:02, 5 January 2014 (EST)
- Accounts cannot be deleted, but you can simply log out and never log back in if you want. Or even keep your account but only use it to read without having to see the ads, and never edit. - Walkazo 17:50, 5 January 2014 (EST)
i just saw a ip who aded fake information to the clapper article, i guess i can only undo edits with to many policies for me to remember, so ill just read and undo bad edits WooftheChomp (talk) 17:52, 5 January 2014 (EST)
- I'm happy to hear that you've decided not to leave: undoing vandalism is very helpful, and every little bit is appreciated! - Walkazo 17:55, 5 January 2014 (EST)
i was originaly thinking of leaving because all of my edits would get reverted due to my low fluency in english as well as my grades not being to good (i need an 80 average or higher), but if reverting vandal edits is helpful, i will stay WooftheChomp (talk) 17:57, 5 January 2014 (EST)
Possible idea
Can I ask your opinion on this idea? If a user keeps making poorly written articles and ignores other user comments about it is it possible for an admin to temporarily take away their article making privileges? Yoshi876 (talk)
- It's too complicated to start making protocols for revoking certain specific privileges. It's better to just stick with the regular Reminder > Warning > Last Warning > Block procedure, as with all "bad edits" situations. - - Walkazo 17:50, 5 January 2014 (EST)
Re: Talk page impersonations
The last few talk page edits are mostly nonsense/forum stuff, but they tried to paste someone's usernames instead of their own on a couple, which I undid (one of the names was LeftyGreenMario, who moved from that alias long ago. The other one, Baby Luigi, already warned them, but still. Think you might wanna ask what's up with that.
As for the redirect, I was working om phasing that out; no need for the character parenthesis wjen you can just link the name, so I've been hunting for red links on and off. Lord Grammaticus (talk) 18:43, 5 January 2014 (EST)
- Doesn't matter: redirects shouldn't be deleted until after all the mainspace links have been updated (including on file pages and whatnot). As for the disruptive user, if they keep up that behaviour they'll get themselves blocked, simple as that. - Walkazo 18:47, 5 January 2014 (EST)
- For what it's worth, the red links were the result of suppresion rather than outright deletion; it was a move after a settled TPP to be precise, and I don't have deletion rights, which I think moving requires. That having been clarified, I'll keep your advice in mind. Thank you! Lord Grammaticus (talk) 18:56, 5 January 2014 (EST)
- No worries, I know what happened with the page, and was just speaking in general (as well as seeing things deleted prematurely I've also seen them labelled for deletion too soon, so it's something that users as well as sysops should keep in mind). Sorry if I sounded accusatory: that wasn't my intention. - Walkazo 20:12, 5 January 2014 (EST)
- Don't worry, it's fine. c: Lord Grammaticus (talk) 03:55, 6 January 2014 (EST)
Information that should not be kept public
Hey there, I created my userpage today (and know proper grammar and all that now from school and tutoring) but I made defamatory remarks about another user because of anger, and I realized that that is not right and was wondering if you could remove the edit where I wrote the info defamatory towards someone. The Chain Chomp (talk) 21:34, 10 January 2014 (EST)
- Just edit the page and remove that content yourself. The old revision, however, will not be hidden: it's not the sort of thing that needs or should be removed from the record. - Walkazo 00:00, 11 January 2014 (EST)
That Trivia about Iggy Koopa
What I tried to say about the point you edited is that when Iggy spins in his shell, the sound effect plays faster than usually. When normally with the Koopalings it is like "spin spin spin spin", Iggy's is more "spinspinspinspin". I used the word "frequency" because in its basics, "Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit time." to quote Wikipedia. - SmokedChili (Talk) (Thoughts) 10.25, 14 January 2014 (EST)
- Ah, okay: it's just that frequency is also involved in sound, and the point was a bit muddled, making it sound like someone (I don't check who specifically) trying to be unnecessarily fancy. I rewrote the point again to just say it's faster: simpler is better. - Walkazo 11:30, 14 January 2014 (EST)
Sorry
Thank you for that. I didn't know those weren't in the warning policy. YoshiToad04 PS Is there anything else I could add to my Stone-Eye article I'm creating?
- Okay. Sorry, no idea; I don't know much about the newer games. - Walkazo 14:39, 18 January 2014 (EST)
Question
This is dealing with emulator resolutions. While forced aspect ratio changes are obviously not allowed, can the same be said of images with resolutions exceeding what the console can normally output? For instance, a Gamecube game tends to be 640x480 pixels, but emulator screenshots can be 1,200 × 900 or even bigger. I was told at SmashWiki that overly big resolution sizes are not allowed. While I know we're not the SmashWiki, and I do think images with big resolutions, but with native aspect ratio sizes do not give any users false impressions (therefore, they're okay), I need to get a viewpoint from a more experienced user so I don't realize that I'm making an emulator-related mistake this entire time I started uploading. Thanks. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:53, 21 January 2014 (EST)
- I'm not speaking for Walkazo, but my 2 cents here is that normal users can't tell the difference, unlike forced-aspect ratios where they can. Resolution being higher than normal makes the game look even clearer and I think it's more reasonable to allow that than settle for a blurrier, less clear picture of an image. Not only do we want to be accurate, we want to be clear with our information, and if the said image isn't discernible unless you know the technical details of it, then I think it should be utterly fine to allow such in the wiki without imposing too strict restrictions depending on accurate images. I think restricting resolutions is a bit silly: normal users can't tell if the game doesn't do it and it makes our articles look fine. Hell, some of our images on the wiki rely on free look hack from the Dolphin Emulator, and getting the image and information across is the point rather if the game can handle it. Ray Trace(T|C) 18:01, 21 January 2014 (EST)
- I looked up the original discussion the admins had about larger-than-life images, and the main feeling was that using the true-to-life resolution was preferable, however unlike the ratio aspect changes, we weren't dead set against them, hence we went with "tolerate" for the rule. As well as wanting to be authentic with the images, another argument against the larger sizes was the desire to save space: if the smaller image is already clear, it's hard to justify quadrupling the file size for extra clarity, especially if regular users aren't even going to notice the difference. (Besides, how many folks just look at the previews when they go to file pages? How many might avoid the super-large resolutions just because they don't want to be mega-zoomed-in to the giant image? How many simply look at the screenshots when they're embedded in the articles or galleries and leave it at that?) The fact that larger images are clearer was a pro-"HD" argument voiced by one admin, but I dunno - to me, it still seems like moderation is the better course here. - Walkazo 19:09, 21 January 2014 (EST)
- Okay... also, I think we should just leave it as it is; if there is a sudden policy change on resolutions of uploaded images, there will be so much unnecessary reuploads to fit it. Since we're responsible for 90% of the GCN Mario Party images, we have to essentially play everything again (and sometimes, the emulator speed is really slow, so it can be tedious). Most of the stuff we upload is to replace images taken from other sites or to replace lower quality images. There are some stuff we upload simply to a higher resolution, though, but we don't do that very often. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:38, 21 January 2014 (EST)
- Yeah, replacing images en masse for trivial reasons wouldn't a good use of time or effort at all. - Walkazo 22:22, 21 January 2014 (EST)

Hi, there. Mkwiifan226 (talk) has been swearing while making derogatory statements (in in edit summaries), which is incredibly rude. I've told him politely that he's been violating the rules, but the user is being arrogant and directed some swearing at me. Please resolve this, as I need to be taken seriously by this person. - The mainspace stuff's been cleared up; I'm more inclined to leave the talk page alone just to not keep stirring it up. If the user uses further profanity or flames someone, let an admin know and they can either give a Last Warning or a block, depending on how bad it is. - Walkazo 15:50, 2 February 2014 (EST)

Speaking of sockpuppets
User:King Pikante is a sock that took one of KP's older aliases; the ljnk I gave still redirects to KP's page as a result, and I'd like the redirect deleted. I can't tag it for such myself, what with it still being a userpage and all. Lord G. matters. 17:14, 18 February 2014 (EST)
Image question
Hey, recently this and this was uploaded to the wiki, they both seem of low quality, and in the case of the latter the colouration makes me think it may be fanmade. The user does have a history of uploading images and claiming that they are from that game and my searching for the images online yielded nothing so I was wondering whether you know if they're official and from that game, or fanmade / from a different game. Yoshi876 (talk)
- No idea where they're from, but they're not from any Super Mario World manual that I know of. They're probably fakes. I'll deal with it. - Walkazo 12:31, 22 February 2014 (EST)
- Okay thanks, I assume the files will be deleted. Also the user is over the PI limit and hadn't selected any to delete, will three be deleted randomly after the week, or will he be allowed to pick them when he is unblocked? Yoshi876 (talk)
- I dunno. I'd say they can be deleted, but whether someone will remember to do so, I can't say. - Walkazo 12:37, 22 February 2014 (EST)

- Sorry to butt in, but your trip seems very interesting and exciting. Bird watching is a hobby for me. What kind of birds did you see? Maybe the elegant golden-crowned crane? Maybe some gorgeous sunbirds? It's such a privilege to go out and the world and see such fantastic creatures in such faraway settings. I hope you found your trip to be a wonderful, memorable experience. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 00:20, 19 March 2014 (EDT)
- Haha, no worries: I love talking about birds too! We didn't see any cranes, sadly (nor Secretary Birds, to our dismay), but we saw a couple hundred other species, including about 50 or so in-hand, as the point of the trip was to band birds, not just watch 'em. Our focus was raptors, and we caught eagles, buzzards, chanting goshawks, falcons, little Shikra accipiters and even a few owls. It was weirdly rainy while we were there (like, flooding and bridges washing away rainy), so we didn't catch as many little birds as we had hoped, but we still got some cool stuff like kingfishers, shrikes, a nightjar and numerous flycatchers and finch-type birds - and we did catch one sunbird: the Southern Double-Collared Sunbird (here's a pic). We also saw Amethyst Sunbirds, and lots of stunning Rollers and Bee-eaters, plus old world vultures, storks, ibises, herons, Meyers Parrots, some waterbirds, and a pair of giant Kori Bustards. Overall, it was a pretty cool trip, although I won't be able to afford to do much of anything for quite a while, lol. - Walkazo 00:54, 19 March 2014 (EDT)
- Oh my god, you actually got a hold of some birds of prey? You're banding them to track their movements, including hunting and nesting patterns, right? That sunbird is beautiful (and adorable). He reminds me of a hummingbird, lol, even though hummingbirds are exclusively American. Oh, it's okay that you didn't see any cranes nor Secretary Birds, because the other colorful (literally) variety birds there seem to make it up for it. Did you see any corvids? I wonder if you can single out any bird songs and calls or maybe they're all alien and exotic. It seems like you're in another world, but this world happens to be the birds' home sweet home. :) I'm sure that whatever money that went into this was ultimately worth it. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:14, 23 March 2014 (EDT)
- Yep - like this Black-Chested Snake Eagle (you can tell it's me holding it because of the fingernails, lol). Banded birds are rarely recovered, so it's mainly just getting an idea of the numbers, but we always hope that something like this cutie-pie Steppe Buzzard might get caught again when he's migrating or breeding up in Russia. Makes sense, since Sunbirds are the Old World answer to our hummingbirds: his long beak's for drinking nectar too, and I guess iridescent feathers just go hand-in-hand with that lifestyle for some reason, heh. Yep, we saw Pied Crows, Cape Crows (like our regular crows) and a White-Necked Raven. We all learned the African dove calls since they're pretty distinctive, as well as a couple other common songs and of course the cackling of the Spurfowls, but I'm not the greatest birder by ear on any continent: I know a few dozen Ontario species by heart and with practice I can remember a few more, but not nearly as many as some folks. Gimme visual IDs, anyday. - Walkazo 02:46, 24 March 2014 (EDT)

Quick question on Japanese name
There is a particular Boo in the Luigi's Mansion arc of the Super Mario-Kun. According to the caption under the Boo, it's this: 案内役 テレサ. The second part is Japanese for Boo (Teresa), I know, but when I ran the first part (案内役) through Google Translate, it shows up as "Beacon". Exactly what is this particular Boo, because I rummaged through Boo subspecies pages, and none of them seem to fit this peculiar Japanese name? I need some clarification, thanks! It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:12, 15 April 2014 (EDT)
- My dictionary doesn't have a 案内役 compound, but 案内 annai means guidance/information and 役 yaku means service/use/office/post; furthermore, 役人 yakunin means "service official" so perhaps 役テレサ yaku-teresa means "service Boo", making the whole thing "Information Service Boo", or something like that. Dunno if it matches any actual Boos, however. - Walkazo 18:25, 15 April 2014 (EDT)
- The Boo does appear to guide Luigi in the mansion, but the caption shows up as if it's an actual name (a lot of enemies are given the square-dialogue box caption treatment). I thought it could be a Boo name from one of those many Boos. That's mildly amusing, anyway, lol. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:28, 15 April 2014 (EDT)
- Maybe his job is his name and/or species name, like Helper Monkeys. - Walkazo 18:44, 15 April 2014 (EDT)

A question
I have been convinced my proposal is wrong. Is it possible to end it early? Triple K, Skye 18:54, 23 April 2014 (EDT)
- This is unrelated but I also call Bowser's species Dragon Koopas. Triple K, Skye 18:54, 23 April 2014 (EDT)
- Yep: proposers can end their own proposal within the first three days of creation. Just archive it with the ruling saying "Deleted by Proposer" in grey, like here, and with the entry on MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive in pink. And awesome! It always makes me happy to see other folks using the same terminology: solidarity! - Walkazo 20:31, 23 April 2014 (EDT)
ToadAwesome12
Hey Walkazo, I've noticed that the User:ToadAwesome12 has voted to make Toad a featured article, when, he really doesn't have any experience and I don't think he knows what makes a featured article. Plus the fact his Username is Toad Awesome, I don't think it is a reasonable vote. - 07:23, 26 April 2014 (EDT)
- Eh, whatever. FAs aren't a straight vote afaik, so as long as there's valid opposition votes, it doesn't matter if there's fan support: the nomination will still be blocked until the concerns are dealt with. It's not worth making a fuss over. - Walkazo 20:20, 26 April 2014 (EDT)
'bout Haru
Hey, so since you don't think Haru is supposed to be Prince Hal, do you think the Hal disambiguation page I made for that reason should go as well? (Also, I think I'm going to get some higher quality screenshots of the anime sooner or later and add a few more scenes, since the existing ones are generally older ones in lower quality and at least one has a watermark. Is that all right?) LinkTheLefty (talk) 21:59, 1 May 2014 (EDT)
- Yeah, it doesn't seem necessary; in general, disambig pages are more for cases where two things have exactly the same name and searches for the name could be for any of the things. High quality images are always good to have, and the less watermarks on the wiki, the better. - Walkazo 22:08, 1 May 2014 (EDT)

Super Mario Land
So, as I pointed out when updating the Sarasaland page, there are a lot of issues regarding translations within the Super Mario Land series. Like, major, really. I saw the enemies' page-names were the correctly translated, however. Should we do the same with Sarasaland and the names of all the other stuff that wasn't done properly, or what? Piraputo is still called Birabuto, even. UhHuhAlrightDaisy (talk) 15:48, 4 June 2014 (EDT)
- Well, we can't change any page titles if that's what you mean, since all those names come from the manual, and so, incorrectly romanized or not, they're official. Better to just add {{foreignname}} showing the original names and proper romanizations and translations and just make notes there and/or elsewhere in the page that the names don't follow the (current) rules. - Walkazo 18:31, 4 June 2014 (EDT)
- But where were the enemies referred to correctly outside the manual, then? Because in the manual they use the Japanese names like Sarasaland does, but their wiki pages are named with the correct translations. Also, Sarasaland has officially been referred to as Sarasa Land, too, as we mention on the page. Oh, one more thing. Why do you post your replies on your talk page? UhHuhAlrightDaisy (talk) 19:29, 4 June 2014 (EDT)
