In that case it was the goose that laid golden eggs. In Paper Mario, it was Yakkey, who unlocked the door to the Windy Mill to allow Mario to fight Tubba Blubba's Heart, which eventually led to the freedom of several Gulch and Mansion Boos. The freedom of Boos parallels the riches Jack amassed when he cashed in the golden eggs (or perhaps Mario when he got the Star Spirit). Another parallel is between the giant and Tubba Blubba; both were bumbling and slept a lot, and both ominously talked about how they "smell" what they enjoyed eating. They also chased the protagonist (which makes Mario kind of parallel Jack). Again, stretch, but a connection can be made. The only problem is it's not backed by any official statements. I'll admit the Sgt. Frog reference holds more water, especially considering the likelihood that Japanese game developers watch Japanese animation, but you just admitted that their connection is loose, which is why I'm asking for more info. I guess since it's Trivia it's fine, but the Mario Wiki generally doesn't allow speculation (at least not in my experience) unless it's as clear cut as Mario Party Minigame names ([[Oil Crisis]], [[Mario Speedwagons]], and [[Track & Yield]] to name a few). And of course, there's the fact that "Kachucker" isn't a word, so people wouldn't immediately get the pun; conversely, "Kuchooka" sounds vaguely like an artillery onomatopoeia, so there's even more reason for people to incorrectly assume that's the intended pronunciation. The Japanese name is the only one that even hints at the pun, simply because the English spelling is so counter-intuitive. See? There's absolutely no question that in the localized versions of TTYD, the Syndicate is based off of the Mafia., though I hear that in the Japanese version, they're based off of the Yakuza. Anyways, they are certainly based off of varying real-life crime syndicates, with the accents in the localized versions being a dead ringer for stereotypical "Mafia"-type characters. Also of note is that one of them asks Mario if he would consider joining, which is interesting given Mario's own Italian heritage and the rules of the real-life Mafia regarding that. I only use 'hacks' to ''receive'' Pokemon I can't possibly get without any copy of any of the GBA games. Once I get them, I do everything with them legitimately. But some things in the game are  ridiculously tedious without certain cheats.

OK, I've given you links to the EV explanation from Serebii, because that's where I learnt it all from, and I can now do EV training in my sleep :O. If you still don't understand something on that page, ask me and I'll attempt to explain. Then there's the IV Calculator link, but not about IVs themselves. Basically, you can only get the proper results from it if you know exactly what EVs you've trained your Poke with. So, don't try and use it for any of your Pokes unless you know their ''exact'' EVs. When you get a Pokemon in the wild, you can use this calculator but the result will be close but not perfect for its' IVs. So, if you've EV trained a Starmie with 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed and 4 HP (to get Effort Ribbon), input the level, stats, nature, and those EVs into the calculator and click "Calculate Individual Values." If any of those particular important stats have crap IVs (I'd say less than 15, since the max IV for any stat is 31), you should get a new Poke.
 
Hmm, I think I found my Pokerus on either a Geodude or an Unown! I got a shock when I saw this weird "PKRS" status thing!
 
 
OK, I haven't played Starfox Adventures for 2 years or so, so I may have forgotten (amnesia sucks!), but: Well, the Red Eye King is a tricky boss. First use the Fire Blaster to open a cage thingy with an explosive fuel barrel inside, and get it. (oh, and stay away from the boss, damn it!)
Then, stand in front of an electrical switch panel thing while you wait for the boss to come round on his next lap of the dungeon. When he starts approaching the electrical wall thingies, step on the switch to charge them up and zap him as he goes past them. When he's on the floor, go near his fat head and throw the barrel at the Spell Stone on his head. You have to do this about 4 times I think, to beat him. It requires good timing for the electric switches, and gets harder each time. Good luck!
 
 
Um, huh? I don't know what you're talking about with natures. Surely you don't mean you disagree, as in you don't believe the chart correctly lists which natures the Battle Tower opponents' Pokes have? Because every single moveset there on the chart exists as a potential foe in the BT - they're all correct. It's a process of elimination and prediction when you get to the tough foes after Battle 21 - four possible movesets for each species.

LOL, the 'meatbag' phrase I got from my gaming magazine (which is always funny), as they used to have a Mailbox section for readers' questions and stuff, and they made it as though all responses were from 'Mailbot' - so they talked like a robot. The Pokes I got from trading at school included Porygon-Z (teh awesomeness), Gorebyss, Huntail, the Regis, and some other random things. The n00bs were fascinated by my Level 100 Arceus (hacked of course) and Lv100 Darkrai (legitimate, went to event on November 1st).
 
I'd like to know your team for the Battle Tower so I can rate it and give advice. If you agree to tell me, I need to know the Pokemans (obviously), their moves, natures, items held, EVs, and anything else.

For so long, I have suffered from some of the worst luck in the world when playing Pearl.
 
For example:
 
*I used Thunder (70% accurate) 5 times in a row, and it missed EVERY TIME >_>
*I set a new Battle Tower win-streak of 63 - but it stopped there due to an opponent's Quick Claw activating (3 in 16 chance), and then getting a Critical Hit...
*I have been searching almost every day for the last 2 months for Munchlax (1% chance of appearing) - I use all 21 Honey Trees twice a day, and I still have never found one...
*I get Critical Hits a lot when the foe has barely any health left, never when I need them. I get them much more often with normal moves than "High critical-hit ratio" moves, too...
*Etc...
 
 
But this last few days, luck was converted to good:
 
*I got a shiny Bagon on a chain of 33.
*I got '''2''' shiny Sneasels on chains of 42 and 45 yesterday. One of them was successfully Synchronised by my Ralts, so it was Jolly. I now have a a shiny Weavile! Shame it's a crap colour >_>
*FREAKIEST LUCK OF ALL: This morning, the very first thing I did was check all 21 Honey Trees as usual. The very first Pokemon I encountered for today was... a BURMY! But, not just any one  - a SHINY one. That's my first ever random-encounter shiny! (1 in 8,192 chance - holy crop!) Shame it's one of the worst Pokemans ever >_>.
 
About your Starmie: Ice Beam is a perfect attack, but Serious nature is one of the 5 neutral natures, so that's not too good. Timid or Modest is recommended.
 
I would advise not using Salamence for the BT. He is a great Pokeman (his ability in particular), but better for competitive OU battles. Your Heatran unfortunately has another Neutral nature. Iron Head is good - but Heatran is ''far'' superior as a Special attacker than Physical. By a lot.

I'm not as concerned with genders as you, but I do have some preferences. About ROB - well, it's natural for most people to assume that since robots are robots, they cannot technically have a gender. But when I see ROB I usually think of him as male anyway. In fact, almost anything without a gender could be male.
 
Oh yeah - the picture will come soon. Um, how am I supposed to know what girls think of me!? BTW, I am the complete opposite of fat. Although Wii Fit said I was in the very middle of the "Ideal" range - which is above the Underweight section I was expecting. So, do you know what girls think of your looks? If so, I'd like to know how you find out. But I can tell you that many girls have said strange things to me, such as "You're so cute...", "You're gorgeous..." "I love you..." and more. But girls are impossible to understand.

Guess what my bro caught the other day? A shiny Zubat. :P I'm not so great at Pokemon, simply because I'm not good at choosing them. Speaking of those, could you help me think of some Pokemon to fill in the...107 new ones for my three regions of Elefto, Arpela and Altro. They are small regions, each with 8 small cities arranged around a big one. Elefto is built on three mountains with the central in a valley, Arpela is a group of islands around the edge of a long peninsula, and Altro has a desert to the south, a volcano to the east, icy cliffs to the north and the Grand Pokemon League to the west. It also has the absolute biggest city ever thought of, so big it might need camera angle changes when you go around the huge skyscrapers. I already have the starters and most of the legends. BTW, I have two new types: Synth (Synthetic) and Fossil. They speak for themselves. :P

Yeah, Gliscor is PWNsome, but I haven't got one yet - I'll have to go to my Pokefriend's house and borrow his Emerald cartridge to make a Gligar appear in Pearl. Hey - I have exactly the same thing as you - an urge to keep signature moves on Pokemans. However, I ditched Magma Storm on Heatran (70% accuracy and 5PP is awful), Shadow Force (terrible move in general), Roar of Time on Dialga (gee, another Hyper Beam variation...), and Aeroblast on Lugia. But most signature moves are awesome.

I suck at internet memes (it took me a few months to realize what OVER 9000 meant). Ah yes, LIGHT type. Obviously super-effective against Dark...With these three regions, each has their own legendaries. Elefto's are Bug types that have to do with elevation (I ran out of ideas...), Arpela has the main legendary, which has to do with a sense (sight, sound, etc.), and Altro has legends that match the three element/weather conditions (sandstorm, volcanic ash, blizzard). For Synth and Fossil, some old pokes are converted. All the fossil pokemon you get are made into Fossil types (replacing the ever-present Rock type), along with Relicanth. The Porygon family, Voltorb family, and Mewtwo are Synth types, fortunately not having to replace any types. Ah...and my 600th pokemon, Generas is a ??? type that you can only get once you have all the other ones. This is because it's a mixture of DNA samples of every single Pokemon. I'm still trying to design it's Ultima form, which it uses to boost its power for 3 turns, but then be inactive for three turns. It's normal form is just a humanoid blob of gooish stuff. Well, I only have 90 more pokemon to think of!

Who cares if they look similar and you have this arbitrary hunch that it's a reference. There's nothing to confirm that Sgt. Frog is referenced at all beyond what you're imagining. Based on what? I could ramble to you about how Tubba Blubba and the entire second half of Chapter 3 in Paper Mario is a reference to Jack and the Giant Beanstalk but I can't validate it. If I did what you're doing, I'd write "Tubba Blubba is giant like the Giant from Jack and the Giant Beanstalk, and Yakkey is like the Golden Goose", which is something I can't substantiate with anything besides my imagination. Perhaps I'd be more convinced that those 3 Bowser minions are a direct reference to those Sgt. How is that similar to Jack and the Beanstalk? Also, that's British, ergo is less likely a reference than a Japanese thing referencing another Japanese thing. Either way, the Elite Trio don't really have distinct personalities; being a group of minions loosely based off of characters from an anime series is really all they have going for them. Like I implied, it's a stretch, but Jack and the Giant Beanstalk was about a boy who ventured into a giant's castle and stumbled on something valuable that would be of immense help to him. In that case it was the goose that laid golden eggs. In Paper Mario, it was Yakkey, who unlocked the door to the Windy Mill to allow Mario to fight Tubba Blubba's Heart, which eventually led to the freedom of several Gulch and Mansion Boos. The freedom of Boos parallels the riches Jack amassed when he cashed in the golden eggs (or perhaps Mario when he got the Star Spirit). Another parallel is between the giant and Tubba Blubba; both were bumbling and slept a lot, and both ominously talked about how they "smell" what they enjoyed eating. They also chased the protagonist (which makes Mario kind of parallel Jack). Again, stretch, but a connection can be made. The only problem is it's not backed by any official statements. I'll admit the Sgt. Frog reference holds more water, especially considering the likelihood that Japanese game developers watch Japanese animation, but you just admitted that their connection is loose, which is why I'm asking for more info. I guess since it's Trivia it's fine, but the Mario Wiki generally doesn't allow speculation (at least not in my experience) unless it's as clear cut as Mario Party Minigame names (Oil Crisis, Mario Speedwagons, and Track & Yield to name a few). And saying that it's likely that it's a reference because they're both Japanese is dumb, least of all because there are many, many, many Japanese works out there. Kuchuka[edit]

While it is true that we do not usually bring up spelling in articles, it is far from obvious that it is pronounced in such an ungrammatical way; most people would assume it rhymes with Bazuka. And of course, there's the fact that "Kachucker" isn't a word, so people wouldn't immediately get the pun; conversely, "Kuchooka" sounds vaguely like an artillery onomatopoeia, so there's even more reason for people to incorrectly assume that's the intended pronunciation. There's no way to know what "most people would assume" in a case like this, and we can't go around making arbitrary exceptions, especially not ones based on something as weak as "most people assume." Perhaps we could mention its pronunciation in the first sentence within parentheses, but we'd also need to decide which other character names have unclear pronunciations and mention them there as well. Rogueport[edit]

There's absolutely no question that in the localized versions of TTYD, the Syndicate is based off of the Mafia., though I hear that in the Japanese version, they're based off of the Yakuza. Anyways, they are certainly based off of varying real-life crime syndicates, with the accents in the localized versions being a dead ringer for stereotypical "Mafia"-type characters. Also of note is that one of them asks Mario if he would consider joining, which is interesting given Mario's own Italian heritage and the rules of the real-life Mafia regarding that.
