Let's see, Japanese series, goofy-looking characters, colors and rank match up...there's only a 3% chance that's unintentional. Stop removing valid information. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:37, 17 October 2017 (EDT)
:Who cares if they look similar and you have this arbitrary hunch that it's a reference. There's nothing to confirm that Sgt. Frog is referenced at all beyond what you're imagining. ::If it was just two characters, that'd be one thing. But there's three there is no way that's unintentional. :::Based on what? I could ramble to you about how Tubba Blubba and the entire second half of Chapter 3 in Paper Mario is a reference to Jack and the Giant Beanstalk but I can't validate it. If I did what you're doing, I'd write "Tubba Blubba is giant like the Giant from Jack and the Giant Beanstalk, and Yakkey is like the Golden Goose", which is something I can't substantiate with anything besides my imagination. Perhaps I'd be more convinced that those 3 Bowser minions are a direct reference to those Sgt. Frog characters if you showed me similarities between their personalities, but appearances alone won't cut it. Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 01:53, 17 October 2017 (EDT)
::::How is that similar to Jack and the Beanstalk? Also, that's British, ergo is less likely a reference than a Japanese thing referencing another Japanese thing. Either way, the Elite Trio don't really have distinct personalities; being a group of minions loosely based off of characters from an anime series is really all they have going for them. :::::Like I implied, it's a stretch, but Jack and the Giant Beanstalk was about a boy who ventured into a giant's castle and stumbled on something valuable that would be of immense help to him. In that case it was the goose that laid golden eggs. In Paper Mario, it was Yakkey, who unlocked the door to the Windy Mill to allow Mario to fight Tubba Blubba's Heart, which eventually led to the freedom of several Gulch and Mansion Boos. The freedom of Boos parallels the riches Jack amassed when he cashed in the golden eggs (or perhaps Mario when he got the Star Spirit). Another parallel is between the giant and Tubba Blubba; both were bumbling and slept a lot, and both ominously talked about how they "smell" what they enjoyed eating. They also chased the protagonist (which makes Mario kind of parallel Jack). Again, stretch, but a connection can be made. The only problem is it's not backed by any official statements. I'll admit the Sgt. Frog reference holds more water, especially considering the likelihood that Japanese game developers watch Japanese animation, but you just admitted that their connection is loose, which is why I'm asking for more info. I guess since it's Trivia it's fine, but the Mario Wiki generally doesn't allow speculation (at least not in my experience) unless it's as clear cut as Mario Party Minigame names (Oil Crisis, Mario Speedwagons, and Track & Yield to name a few). There's absolutely no question that in the localized versions of TTYD, the Syndicate is based off of the Mafia., though I hear that in the Japanese version, they're based off of the Yakuza. Anyways, they are certainly based off of varying real-life crime syndicates, with the accents in the localized versions being a dead ringer for stereotypical "Mafia"-type characters. Also of note is that one of them asks Mario if he would consider joining, which is interesting given Mario's own Italian heritage and the rules of the real-life Mafia regarding that. Anyways, I don't see a problem with noting the general idea. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:42, 16 June 2018 (EDT)

Rogueport[edit]

Sorry, the Mario Party games are the subseries that I know the least about offhand. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:24, 4 March 2019 (EST)

Re: How Long...[edit]
Would you believe me if I told you that, despite knowing all the main memes from a rather young age, I didn't actually start watching them regularly until I got to college (and needed something to do when out of class, and no one would be bothered by the noise, and the internet was OK)? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:23, April 13, 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah, I'd believe that. College was where I discovered Fesh Pince (it was introduced to me by my suitemates, which was very unexpected but shows how diverse college can be). Do you have a favorite YouTube Poop, or a favorite creator? Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 21:28, April 13, 2019 (EDT)
- My favorite YTP would probably be Crustacean Resurrection Redemption or the Mashed Bandicoot ones (made by NPCarllson), but my favorite YTP creator is probably Jimmy Davis. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:40, April 13, 2019 (EDT)
- I haven't seen those but I'll check them out. I recommend Deepercutt (a good way to get started with him is to watch the tennis match between him and Captpan, another good creator), Kroboproductions (especially "King Dedede inhales a negative Ion", but he's best known for Fesh Pince), DaThings1, and CS188. My favorite YTP is "Ganon Thinks Your Face will Burn Him." Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 21:46, April 13, 2019 (EDT)
- Try "the Decayer App" from Jimmy Davis, the other ones I mentioned are fairly long. I've seen the Dedede inhales one (along with several permutations of it) as well....there's also an extremely vulgar nonsensical speech from K. Rool in "King K. Rool Files a Complaint at Super Disney Land 3" by Geibuchan I can quote off the top of my head (and in fact did while unlocking him in Smash) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:49, April 13, 2019 (EDT)

Monty Mole (Flower Fields)[edit]
Hi, just letting you know the reason this edit didn't work is because you didn't change the name in the bestiary. It's fixed now. Niiue - Who has lost his tail? 00:15, April 20, 2020 (EDT)
- I see. Thanks! Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 00:57, April 20, 2020 (EDT)
Re: Hey...[edit]
Hey it's no problem. porple used automated bot script to replace file names wiki-wide, and I decided to go through the manual effort of replacing them seeing as you thanked him on his talk page :) Oh and btw, I noticed you've had some history with contributing niwa wikis -- i've noticed because i've contributed a lot to Wikirby and Lylat Wiki & cleared out some old stuff from both places to make them more user friendly, if you want to take a look. - Yep, I helped them out a bit and attempted to do a merger but unfortunately that fell through and I went back to their Wikia counterparts. I'll be sure to check those out, I've always loved their css, especially WiKirby's. :) Blue Ninjakoopa (talk) 16:20, April 26, 2020 (EDT)
Lylat Wiki[edit]
Hello. I'm going over our staff listing on Lylat Wiki, and I noticed you haven't made an edit there since 2011, which was around the time of the Wikia move, as it appears you were more active on Arwingpedia afterward. Are you planning on resuming activity, or are you fine with demotion? Asking here as I'm not sure you'd get a notification from Lylat Wiki. 12:26, May 10, 2020 (EDT)
