Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so in every page, there is an image used for the thumbnail of the pages, like a [[List of characters|character]] or enemy from the [[Super Mario (franchise)|''Super Mario'' (franchise)]] and where the artwork of that character or enemy of that game is from, but are we allowed to change these images to the image of the character or enemy from a different game's artwork from the ''Super Mario'' (franchise) or not? As long as if it is not adding vandalism to the page. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:52, July 2, 2024 (EDT) | Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so in every page, there is an image used for the thumbnail of the pages, like a [[List of characters|character]] or enemy from the [[Super Mario (franchise)|''Super Mario'' (franchise)]] and where the artwork of that character or enemy of that game is from, but are we allowed to change these images to the image of the character or enemy from a different game's artwork from the ''Super Mario'' (franchise) or not? == Writing ''[[Monopoly Gamer]]'' in italic ==
Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so we have to write games from the [[Super Mario (franchise)|''Super Mario'' franchise]] in italic, but do we have to put ''[[Monopoly Gamer]]'' in italic or not? We just want to know because the title of this page is not in italic, but users write this in italic elsewise and it is also a game that people can play. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:45, July 6, 2024 (EDT)
:Board games titles shouldn't be italicized. Only books, movies, TV shows and video games should be italicized. Songs are to be in quotation marks. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 08:31, July 6, 2024 (EDT)
== Header for pages == | |||
Hello [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so we've been wondering on how do you change the text of the header of your user space or talk page, because your talk page's heading does not say ''"User talk:Sparks"'', but instead says ''"Woo! I mean, YAY!! - Sweetie Belle, 2011"''. How do you even do this at all? I really need an answer here. {{User:C11P/sig}} 07:24, July 10, 2024 (EDT)
:Use<code><nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE:</nowiki></code> and then type in what you want the title to display. For example, for my talk page I typed in <code><nowiki>{{DISPLAYTITLE:Woo! I mean, YAY!! - Sweetie Belle, 2011}}</nowiki></code>. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 08:28, July 10, 2024 (EDT)

A lot of those were not actually supposed to be tagged for deletion, they were just marked as such by a user who misunderstood a proposal and refused to clean up their mess (to wit: they were meant to go on the list/game pages, but the person who decided to enact the proposal got lazy and neglected to include them - see [https://www.mariowiki.com/User_talk:Super_Mario_RPG#Deletion_templates_for_Smash_redirects this conversation]). == JPG ==
If you got that ''DDR:MM'' screenshot from a video as you say in the upload summary, then why did you upload it as a JPG instead of PNG? Saving as JPG worsens the quality of the screenshot and JPGs [[User_talk:Porplemontage#Question_about_image_thumbnails|blur heavily when thumbnailed]]. So if the image wasn't [[MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive/46#Prohibit_Converting_Between_GIF.2C_JPEG.2C_and_PNG_Formats|already a JPG to begin with]], I don't see a reason to upload in that format (printscreened video screenshots aren't going to be perfect quality in the first place, but saving as JPG just adds more artifacting). PNG is superior. The same can be said about your X-Fist and X-Punch screenshot uploads, assuming those are taken from videos as well. {{User:7feetunder/sig}} 15:37, July 20, 2024 (EDT)
:Whenever I take screenshots from videos (I use an IPad), they're in PNG format, but when I crop them to remove anything unnecessary (black bars, watermarks) they change to JPG format and I don't know why. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 15:39, July 20, 2024 (EDT)
== Features == | |||
Do you like when new features are added to the wiki, that is, if they do not deter from the experience or accessibility of content? Sure, it's like one got removed lately (Tabber) though you seemed particularly eager about the Thanks proposal I did and proceeded to archive it when it passed eagerly. I think one way of keeping the place fun is experimenting with all of these features. Just felt the need to share, since it feels great when people benefit from one's proposals, templates, or features. :I like the idea of the Thanks extension! Other users complained about the tabbers because they didn't work, but they weren't an issue for me. In my opinion, new features can work really well and even encourage users/editors. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 12:31, August 24, 2024 (EDT)

== Period after "Bros" ==
Hello again [[User:Sparks|Sparks]]. Sorry if I am acting like a dumb head, but it turns out that some people editing this Wiki really need to learn how to put the period or full stop after "Bros", the reason why it needs to be like this is because putting a period after a word in the middle of a sentence can tell that it is a word that stands for something like as an example: "Bros." stands for "Brothers", without the period after a word like this, people might not know reading the article that that word is a word standing for something else. I originally asked [[User:Mario jc|Mario jc]] about this formatting of "Bros.", but he did not reply to what we said, frustrating us, meaning we needed to ask you about this, as you always reply to other people, when Mario jc replies to a comment, instead of replying to the comment on his [[User talk:Mario jc|Talk Page]], he puts his response on the corresponding User's Talk Page to who asked the new topic. Can we please sort all of this out? Thank you so much, Sparks. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:20, September 11, 2024 (EDT)
:Many games in the ''Super Mario'' franchise have the word "Bros." This is an abbreviation of the word "brothers" and so a period must be placed after the word. I even looked it up and every website I've seen agrees to place a period after "Bros." {{User:Sparks/sig}} 07:15, September 11, 2024 (EDT)
== Formatting "[[Spiny]]" to proper American English ==
Hello again [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so it turns out that throughout the whole of this Wiki, a lot of people are writing "[[Spiny]]s" instead of "Spinies". The reason it needs to be "Spinies" is because words that end with "Y" in plural form replace the "Y" with "IES", writing a word ending with "Y" and putting an "S" on the end just does not look right at all, can we please sort all of this out like what we did to "Bros."? Thank you very much, Sparks. {{User:C11P/sig}} 02:39, September 12, 2024 (EDT)
:Spinies have more commonly been referred to such as "Spinies", and I believe that is the correct way to spell it. However, I looked on the Spiny article found that there have been rare instances where they were called "Spinys". Examples of this include ''[[Super Mario Adventures]]'' and ''[[Super Paper Mario]]''. They're likely errors, but that was what they were known as for those media. Nowadays, "Spinies" looks to be the official spelling, as modern ''Mario'' games and such have that pluralization. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 07:51, September 12, 2024 (EDT)
== [[User:Koopa con Carne|Koopa con Carne]]'s signature page ==
Hello again [[User:Sparks|Sparks]], so it turns out that [[User:Koopa con Carne|Koopa con Carne]]'s signature page is misspelt, it has a capital "S" in "Sig", it needs to be spelt as "sig" (<code><nowiki>{{User:Koopa con Carne/sig}}</nowiki></code> instead of <code><nowiki>{{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}}</nowiki></code>), can you kindly ask him to fix this up, because this signature does not work with the <code><nowiki>{{Sigbox}}</nowiki></code> template, it works if "Sig" is spelt as "sig". This template only accepts User Pages ending with "/sig". Thank you so much, Sparks. {{User:C11P/sig}} 06:00, September 17, 2024 (EDT)

== Question == | |||
Why did you remove my crossover idea? [[Special:Contributions/91.214.137.123|91.214.137.123]] 07:11, November 4, 2024 (EST)
:According to [[Help:Communication]], talk pages are '''used to debate or ask questions about the article that corresponds to it. This is not the right place to discuss which character is better or which species is the strongest.''' Basically what this means is that talk pages are meant to be used for constructive purposes, such as how to improve the article or to confirm information for example. What you put on there was what we'd call Forum Talk. That wasn't constructive and doesn't help the article, and so I removed it. If you want to share ideas, this place is not where to do it. You can talk about that kind of stuff on [https://www.marioboards.com/ Mario Boards] or the [[MarioWiki:Discord servers|Discord server]]. {{User:Sparks/sig}} 07:28, November 4, 2024 (EST)

Current plans: Nothing currently.
The point of my Talk Page is to communicate with me, obviously! You can also see previous discussions here. Please do not vanadalize, speak profanity, troll, etc. here. I also take friend requests!
Also please note: I will reply to all messages on my talk page, and my talk page only. In other words, all conversations on my talk page stay here.
THIS PAGE IS WARIOPROOF THANKS TO PONIES
Due to a recent Wario outbreak, Twilight Sparkle, Sweetie Belle, and Trixie Lulamoon have used their unicorn magic to protect this page from any Wario-related threats. Except Boo Warios apparently...
Italics[edit]
Hello, Sparks! Thanks for your contributions. When writing titles for media like games, films, TV shows, and publications, please remember to italicize them. This is done by placing two straight apostrophes (not quotation marks or curly apostrophes) on both sides of the title, or clicking on the I icon above the text box and typing out the title. For example, typing out ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' generates Super Mario Bros.
If you are using a device that uses curly ("smart") punctuation, you may need to disable this function in your device's settings to be able to type out the correct apostrophes. |
Also, Super Effects like Fire (as well as "Super Effect" itself) are proper nouns and should be capitalised. Mario JC 21:29, November 25, 2022 (EST)
If you can't do this because your device uses curly apostrophes, you can change to straight apostrophes in your settings, or switch to desktop mode and click on the slanted "I" icon when typing game titles. Mario JC 23:07, November 25, 2022 (EST)
Just to clarify, it's two apostrophes on each side for game titles (italicising), and three on each side for the first mention of the subject in the article (bolding). Nightwicked Bowser 14:40, November 28, 2022 (EST)
Templates and categories[edit]
When creating new articles, you should put any relevant templates and categories at the bottom of the page, I would suggest looking at other Sparks of Hope related pages to see which ones. You can see these more easily by going into the editing page on the last section. Also, regarding adding a quote on the Stone Mask page, you can use Template:Quote2 to have the quote without automatic links and have Electroid pipe linked. Nightwicked Bowser 10:24, November 28, 2022 (EST)
If you're making an article that's not reusing another article's layout and links, please remember to add categories to the articles on your own. Mario JC 22:22, March 25, 2023 (EDT)
Articles[edit]
Nice work on the articles! Just a few things, avoid using the Sparks' name every time as it can get repetitive, and try to substitute it occasionally with pronouns (so "it", unless their genders are confirmed in-game), and be aware of how you're linking articles (Poison alone is ambiguous and links to the disambiguation page; Poison (status effect) is the RPG status effect, so the correct link should be: [[Poison (status effect)|Ooze]]
). Mario JC 21:14, November 30, 2022 (EST)
Also, don't bold image captions or anything that isn't the title of the article (like "Midnite's Memory"). Mario JC 06:23, December 24, 2022 (EST)
M+RSOH articles[edit]
Hi! Just wanted to say that you've done a great job with the M+RSOH pages (especially with the creation of the other Sparks). Keep it up! --Zootalo (talk) 18:08, December 1, 2022 (EST)
Replacement images[edit]
Just FYI, if you need to upload a new version of an existing image that's in the same image format, just click on the "Upload a new version of this file" link under "File history" on the existing file page rather than uploading separately. And if you need to rename, click on the "move" tab at the top of the file page (though you need to be on desktop mode to access it). Mario JC 01:48, December 14, 2022 (EST)
Beep-0[edit]
Beep-0 is written with a zero, not the letter O. Nightwicked Bowser 13:40, December 14, 2022 (EST)
Message about tomorrow’s weather[edit]
Tomorrow I plan on covering more Darkmess Tentacle battles in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, starting with the Palette Prime ones, although there is going to be a very bad ice storm where I live. The power might go out, and I might be unable to create more pages while it’s out. Hopefully that won’t happen, I hope for the best conditions so that I can help out with more Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope pages. If I show no activity tomorrow, it’s because I lost power. Sparks (talk) Thursday, December 22, 21:42 (EST)
Italic title[edit]
When making pages which have the game as an identifier in the title, remember to put {{italic title|Article title (''game title'')}} at the top of the page so that the game is italicised in the title as well. Nightwicked Bowser 11:58, January 25, 2023 (EST)
Oops. I forgot to do that when I made the lighthouse page earlier, as well as some others, sorry about that. I should always look to that when creating a page with the title in it. Sparks (talk) , Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 12:28 (EST)
Glide[edit]
Just wondering if you're planning to make the article for Glide as well? If so, the redirect page can be edited and turned into the Sparks of Hope article without creating an entirely new page, and it won't need an identifier either. Nightwicked Bowser 16:50, March 25, 2023 (EDT)
Well, I added a lot of Glide information on the page, so I think it would be safe to say that it wouldn't be worth it to give Glide its own page. I suppose that Glide could just simply redirect to Team Jump (Mario + Rabbids). Although I didn't intend to add in the gliding, it seemed to make sense with it being linked into Team Jump.

Well done! ⭐ Spectrogram (talk) 01:08, April 11, 2023 (EDT)
Thank you so much! So much pressure is taken off now that all of the quests have articles. There's not much more to cover on Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, just a few more locations and other things and maybe some revisions.

Darkmess portal[edit]
A while back, I asked Porplemontage to run a bot changing the uppercase "p" to lowercase in Darkmess portal as the lowercase "p" is actually the official spelling used in-game (see the quote on top of the Darkmess portal article. Nightwicked Bowser 19:36, September 6, 2023 (EDT)

Make more GIFs like this[edit]
This wiki needs more of it. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 13:55, January 7, 2024 (EST)
- This is an anti-Wario GIF image I uploaded yesterday. Do you notice that MARIO is the one knocking out Wario? Sparks (talk) 13:57, January 7, 2024 (EDT)
- Of course I did! 🤣🤣 I immediately shared it with other people. I couldn't fit it in my userpage but maybe I should just have a gallery of Mario's proudest moments in a Mario Party game, and also have a bonus reel showing Mario and friends (and NOT Wario)! I hope your page continues to be Wario-free! It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:01, January 7, 2024 (EST)
I just wanted to say hi![edit]
You probably haven't met me, but that's okay because I'm new and haven't done much on the wiki yet. I wanted to say that I think it's awesome that you like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It used to be my favorite show, and my favorite character is Twilight Sparkle too! The Smash and Crab GIF you uploaded is great (in my humble opinion)! I absolutely hate Wario and this GIF is hilarious to me. I also think it's great that you like Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. I love Rabbid Rosalina too, although I was initially like "Wait, they're making a Rabbid version of Rosalina? I don't know whether to laugh or cry...", but she turned out to be an awesome character. Oh, and have I mentioned Rosalina is my favorite Mario series character? I also love your userpage. Thank you for working so hard on the Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope pages and keep working on getting the Rabbid Rosalina page to featured status!
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. If you don't reply to this, that's alright. I just wanted to try and brighten your day a little bit. Thank you for contributions! -- FanOfRosalina2007 (talk · edits) 16:21, January 9, 2024 (EST)
- Thank you so much! Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope was my main reason for joining the Mario Wiki. I've been on the wiki for a little over a year now, but I'm still learning new things as I edit! As for the Mario Wiki itself, I think the community is awesome and has lots of nice people, like you. And yes, being a brony is something I love. Sparks (talk) 16:34, January 9, 2024 (EDT)
- (Sorry for the late response, I've been busy.) I think it's cool that you're a brony. I'd actually never heard of the term until now, so that's one new word added to my vocabulary! And congrats on Rabbid Rosalina getting featured status!! It's so much more interesting to read now, and I think you did a great job. Have a good day! -- FanOfRosalina2007 (talk · edits) 18:37, January 12, 2024 (EST)

Apparently, Wario likes throwing baby penguins off cliffs![edit]

Free Golden Wario[edit]
I worked hard stealing the statues from Greedville since they were causing distant satellites to go blind from the sheer ugliness and I put them into storage. That being said....
For being promoted to patroller, you have earned a very special Golden Wario of the Day. Never mind the chemical composition of the thing, which is suspiciously FeS2, why not strike it to cause magical flames to demolish all that is terrible, greedy, garlicy, and stinky on this wiki?
Keep good care of it! Be careful... this golden Wario statue is prone to oxidation from the air and water, unlike those cheap metals made out of Au. 🙄 It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 12:36, May 17, 2024 (EDT)
- Well, I'll be careful with it. It's a statue of Wario, so that's already concerning. Thanks for helping me get to patroller status by the way! Sparks (talk) 12:45, May 17, 2024 (EDT)
Congrats on your promotion![edit]
I'm excited to hear that you're a patroller now! I hope you enjoy your new position! Best regards, FanOfRosalina2007 (talk · edits) 13:24, May 19, 2024 (EDT)

Smash models[edit]
Where exactly was the proposal saying to delete model images from Smash that weren't Mario-related? If there wasn't one, you'll need to restore those, that's a very contentious subject and deleting things willy-nilly is not a good idea. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:25, June 6, 2024 (EDT)
- On the Mario Wiki Discord server, the staff agreed that the wiki is limiting Super Smash Bros. content. They also approved that the images should be deleted, which is why I did so. I only deleted the ones that Giga Cat Weegee uploaded yesterday. Sparks (talk) 10:33, June 6, 2024 (EDT)
- Hrm, OK then. I still want to point out that most people here, including staff that is normally pro-Smash-thinning, have generally responded positively to how I implemented the lists into the Super Smash Bros. article (which is still a bit of a wip itself), and I plan to do the same thing with the other games' pages and galleries. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:39, June 6, 2024 (EDT)
- @Doc von Schmeltwick I'll reiterate what I said on Camwoodstock's talk page yesterday that I think it's incredibly selfish to want to have excessive coverage on this wiki, not only considering how Super Mario is a large enough franchise to curate alone (and therefore basically taking personal issues with other wikis and irrelevant content here), but because specialized affiliate wikis could really use more support from those who are interested in the coverage, like NintendoWiki, which is lacking in content. A good precedent taken was when Nintendo101 ported over the Memory Card page over to there. I'm only interested in Super Mario content. Super Mario RPG (talk) 10:43, June 6, 2024 (EDT)
- If it weren't for the free advertisement those series get on here from it, I probably wouldn't have gotten into them in the first place. :\ Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:46, June 6, 2024 (EDT)

- Just wanted to clarify that the deletion was due to the fact that they were simply hasty uploads of the T-pose thumbnails from the Models Resource on top of the fact that they're needlessly adding to content we're already trying to limit anyway (and are better off elsewhere, i.e. SmashWiki), especially since all of them were non-Mario-related. Mario JC 10:54, June 6, 2024 (EDT)

Capitalization for links to pages[edit]
Hello Sparks, so what we've been wondering is that much of the text within pages for links are in capital letters, but are we allowed to lowercase the links, as long as it's not a character from the Super Mario (franchise), or proper nouns for example? If this was done, it would make it feel more like proper English because English only uses capitals at the start of paragraphs or proper nouns, and I think that lowercase looks much better in page links. C11P (talk • contributions) 03:00, June 26, 2024 (EDT)
- As long as the links don't have to deal with proper nouns. Mario is a proper noun because that's his name, but subjects like penguin can be lowercase because penguins are not proper nouns and are not the name of a specific character, but of the species in general. Most links must have proper capitalization, but there are some exceptions like penguin as I've mentioned. Locations also must be capitalized because they are proper nouns too. Sparks (talk) 09:04, June 26, 2024 (EDT)
I'm getting a bit uncomfortable by 5.82.57.96[edit]
There were 0 admins online when I wrote this, so I hope it's okay that I write about it to you instead. I'm feeling pretty "Uuuuuuuuh..." about A) the user apparently thinks me and only me can handle adding images, and 2) they're kinda linking to de facto pirate sites (presuming MarioCube counts as a pirate site, which I think it does). So I feel like I need someone to step in to them as a 3rd commenter in that thread so that I don't stand alone in trying to talk with them. DandelionSprout (talk) 17:51, June 26, 2024 (EDT)

Pages with words in lowercase[edit]
Hello Sparks, in this Wiki, some of the pages have a title with all of the words except for the first word having their first letter in lowercase, like Volcanic debris as an example. Do you know why it is like this? C11P (talk • contributions) 04:00, June 27, 2024 (EDT)
- Volcanic debris is not a proper noun, but a common noun. Sometimes Nintendo officially declares subjects as common nouns, like volcanic debris. Conjectural articles (such as cowboy for example) are also lowercase because we don't know their official name, so editors come up with one themselves. Sparks (talk) 07:51, June 27, 2024 (EDT)
IP address user pages from rollbacking edits by a different user[edit]
Hello Sparks, so it turns out that rollbacking is an action where you can revert all of the recent edits by a user of a page, thus restoring the page back to the last revision by a different user. These are automatically marked as minor edits, but the edit summary for rollbacking reads out the following:
Reverted edits by [[Special:Contributions/Username|Username]] ([[User talk:Username|talk]]) to last revision by [[User:Username|Username]]
It turns out that it reads two different users, but for some reason, the second user link links to their user page instead of their list of contributions, meaning if this action was done by a user or IP that added vandalism or added false information to a page as an example, and it got reverted to the latest revision that an IP address made, if you hover over the redlink, it reads that the IP address has a user page that can be created, which is a bit odd to read because IPs cannot create their own user space, but regular users can. Does this mean that the IP can actually secretly create a user page of their IP address? Because when you are logged out, the area that reads the user you are logged in as reads "Not logged in" with no available link to a creatable user page. I really need an answer about all of this, thank you so much, Sparks. C11P (talk • contributions) 05:30, June 28, 2024 (EDT)
- Only staff members can perform rollbacks, meaning that anonymous users cannot rollback pages. Anonymous users must log in to be registered users in order for them to create user pages for themselves. Sparks (talk) 07:16, June 28, 2024 (EDT)
Creating user pages when a user is blocked[edit]
Hello Sparks, so in the Wiki, users can create a page as their personal user space, and can create multiple sub pages, in which other users cannot create or edit the pages, but one thing I always wanted to know is, when you are blocked from editing the Wiki, you can still add discussions to talk pages, but can you not edit your personal user page and sub pages when you are blocked from the Wiki? I really need an answer here. C11P (talk • contributions) 02:00, June 29, 2024 (EDT)
- According to MarioWiki:Blocking Policy:
"Blocked users can still see all wiki pages, but they cannot login or edit. Instead, hitting the "edit" link brings them to a notification page, which provides the email that they can contact if they want to protest the block.
When a blocked user attempts to edit, the IP from which they are editing is "autoblocked", so that they cannot try to go and edit from another account instead. There is an internal autoblock expiry time set to 24 hours, meaning that when a username is blocked indefinitely, their IP will be automatically unblocked 24 hours after they last accessed a page."
I know blocked users can edit their own talk pages, but admins can prevent them from doing so when they perform the block process. They cannot edit on mainspace articles no matter what, whether it be talk pages or the subjects themselves. If you have any other questions about policies, I recommend checking out the Help page. Sparks (talk) 07:16, June 29, 2024 (EDT)
The image for a page's thumbnail[edit]
Hello Sparks, so in every page, there is an image used for the thumbnail of the pages, like a character or enemy from the Super Mario (franchise) and where the artwork of that character or enemy of that game is from, but are we allowed to change these images to the image of the character or enemy from a different game's artwork from the Super Mario (franchise) or not? As long as if it is not adding vandalism to the page. C11P (talk • contributions) 02:52, July 2, 2024 (EDT)
- The artwork needs to match up with the current section of the article, so if it's a Goomba's artwork from Super Mario World, then it goes in the Super Mario World section. Subjects use artwork from their latest appearance in their infoboxes, but if the artwork showcases the subject with something unique for the game (for example, Mario with the Dual Slingers from Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope) then it isn't used,just the latest artwork of them without anything related to one game. Sparks (talk) 08:06, July 2, 2024 (EDT)
Writing Monopoly Gamer in italic[edit]
Hello Sparks, so we have to write games from the Super Mario franchise in italic, but do we have to put Monopoly Gamer in italic or not? We just want to know because the title of this page is not in italic, but users write this in italic elsewise and it is also a game that people can play. C11P (talk • contributions) 02:45, July 6, 2024 (EDT)
- Board games titles shouldn't be italicized. Only books, movies, TV shows and video games should be italicized. Songs are to be in quotation marks. Sparks (talk) 08:31, July 6, 2024 (EDT)
Header for pages[edit]
Hello Sparks, so we've been wondering on how do you change the text of the header of your user space or talk page, because your talk page's heading does not say "User talk:Sparks", but instead says "Woo! I mean, YAY!! - Sweetie Belle, 2011". How do you even do this at all? I really need an answer here. C11P (talk • contributions) 07:24, July 10, 2024 (EDT)
- Use
{{DISPLAYTITLE:
and then type in what you want the title to display. For example, for my talk page I typed in{{DISPLAYTITLE:Woo! I mean, YAY!! - Sweetie Belle, 2011}}
. Sparks (talk) 08:28, July 10, 2024 (EDT)
Smash images[edit]
A lot of those were not actually supposed to be tagged for deletion, they were just marked as such by a user who misunderstood a proposal and refused to clean up their mess (to wit: they were meant to go on the list/game pages, but the person who decided to enact the proposal got lazy and neglected to include them - see this conversation). Please undelete them. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:55, July 19, 2024 (EDT)
- I can't bring back the images myself but I can bring this up on Discord. Sorry for the misunderstanding. This is a very weird situation overall. Sparks (talk) 23:08, July 19, 2024 (EDT)
JPG[edit]
If you got that DDR:MM screenshot from a video as you say in the upload summary, then why did you upload it as a JPG instead of PNG? Saving as JPG worsens the quality of the screenshot and JPGs blur heavily when thumbnailed. So if the image wasn't already a JPG to begin with, I don't see a reason to upload in that format (printscreened video screenshots aren't going to be perfect quality in the first place, but saving as JPG just adds more artifacting). PNG is superior. The same can be said about your X-Fist and X-Punch screenshot uploads, assuming those are taken from videos as well. 15:37, July 20, 2024 (EDT)
- Whenever I take screenshots from videos (I use an IPad), they're in PNG format, but when I crop them to remove anything unnecessary (black bars, watermarks) they change to JPG format and I don't know why. Sparks (talk) 15:39, July 20, 2024 (EDT)
Features[edit]
Do you like when new features are added to the wiki, that is, if they do not deter from the experience or accessibility of content? Sure, it's like one got removed lately (Tabber) though you seemed particularly eager about the Thanks proposal I did and proceeded to archive it when it passed eagerly. I think one way of keeping the place fun is experimenting with all of these features. Just felt the need to share, since it feels great when people benefit from one's proposals, templates, or features. Super Mario RPG (talk) 12:14, August 24, 2024 (EDT)
- I like the idea of the Thanks extension! Other users complained about the tabbers because they didn't work, but they weren't an issue for me. In my opinion, new features can work really well and even encourage users/editors. Sparks (talk) 12:31, August 24, 2024 (EDT)

Period after "Bros"[edit]
Hello again Sparks. I originally asked Mario jc about this formatting of "Bros.", but he did not reply to what we said, frustrating us, meaning we needed to ask you about this, as you always reply to other people, when Mario jc replies to a comment, instead of replying to the comment on his Talk Page, he puts his response on the corresponding User's Talk Page to who asked the new topic. Can we please sort all of this out? Thank you so much, Sparks. C11P (talk • contributions) 02:20, September 11, 2024 (EDT)
- Many games in the Super Mario franchise have the word "Bros." This is an abbreviation of the word "brothers" and so a period must be placed after the word. I even looked it up and every website I've seen agrees to place a period after "Bros." Sparks (talk) 07:15, September 11, 2024 (EDT)
Formatting "Spiny" to proper American English[edit]
Hello again Sparks, so it turns out that throughout the whole of this Wiki, a lot of people are writing "Spinys" instead of "Spinies". C11P (talk • contributions) 02:39, September 12, 2024 (EDT)
- Spinies have more commonly been referred to such as "Spinies", and I believe that is the correct way to spell it. However, I looked on the Spiny article found that there have been rare instances where they were called "Spinys". Examples of this include Super Mario Adventures and Super Paper Mario. They're likely errors, but that was what they were known as for those media. Nowadays, "Spinies" looks to be the official spelling, as modern Mario games and such have that pluralization. Sparks (talk) 07:51, September 12, 2024 (EDT)
Koopa con Carne's signature page[edit]
Hello again Sparks, so it turns out that Koopa con Carne's signature page is misspelt, it has a capital "S" in "Sig", it needs to be spelt as "sig" ({{User:Koopa con Carne/sig}}
instead of {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}}
), can you kindly ask him to fix this up, because this signature does not work with the {{Sigbox}}
template, it works if "Sig" is spelt as "sig". This template only accepts User Pages ending with "/sig". Thank you so much, Sparks. C11P (talk • contributions) 06:00, September 17, 2024 (EDT)

Question[edit]
Why did you remove my crossover idea? 91.214.137.123 07:11, November 4, 2024 (EST)
- According to Help:Communication, talk pages are used to debate or ask questions about the article that corresponds to it. This is not the right place to discuss which character is better or which species is the strongest. Basically what this means is that talk pages are meant to be used for constructive purposes, such as how to improve the article or to confirm information for example. What you put on there was what we'd call Forum Talk. That wasn't constructive and doesn't help the article, and so I removed it. If you want to share ideas, this place is not where to do it. You can talk about that kind of stuff on Mario Boards or the Discord server. Sparks (talk) 07:28, November 4, 2024 (EST)
