Hoppos are purple hippos with a flower-like pattern on top that first appear in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. They appear in the levels Here Come the Hoppos, Cosmic Hoppos, Break Time! Pop Up, Hoppo!, Pipe-Rock Plateau Special Bounce, Bounce, Bounce, and The Final Test Wonder Gauntlet. The player can stomp on them to make them start rolling and bounce off of them. Hoppos can also roll into and get stuck in gaps. Hoppos are completely harmless to the player, though they can defeat other enemies while rolling.
During the Wonder Effect in Here Come the Hoppos, the player has to bounce off of rolling Hoppos to reach a big one carrying a Wonder Seed.
Their name is a portmanteau of "hop" and "hippo".
