Rolla Koopa Derby is a course in Pipe-Rock Plateau of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. It introduces Rolla Koopas and features them as the only enemies of the course. It is unlocked after beating Badge House in Pipe-Rock Plateau and paying the Poplin to break the rock blocking the path. Its own completion unlocks Break Time! Pop Up, Hoppo!. This course houses two Wonder Seeds.

Layout[edit]

Rolla Koopa Derby takes place in an autumnal setting. The beginning of the course introduces the Rolla Koopa enemies, skating from the left above the player. Following the beginning is a flat section where Rolla Koopas skate on Marimba Blocks, with slanted platforms behind. Following the Marimba Blocks section is a segment containing various semisolid platforms, handles, and red Warp Pipes. Above a large platform before the Checkpoint Flag, a sleeping Talking Flower just outside of the player's field of view can be found.

The second half of the level, following the checkpoint, contains various Mushroom Trampolines that Rolla Koopas use to jump higher. Pulling a handle attached to a big tree reveals a Wonder Flower. During the Wonder Effect, the scene shifts to nighttime and yellow translucent platforms appear with several Rolla Koopas skating on them, along with five Wonder Tokens. The player must go up the translucent platforms and collect all five Wonder Tokens to make the Wonder Seed appear at the top of the large tree. After collecting the Wonder Seed, the platforms disappear and the player falls to the base of the tree. Shortly after, a Super Star can be found, followed by a short sequence of semisolid platforms and Mushroom Trampolines that lead the player towards the Goal Pole.

Hidden Character Blocks[edit]

10-flower coins[edit]

  • 10-flower coin 1: Found over Marimba Blocks among the skating Rolla Koopas.
  • 10-flower coin 2: A Propeller Flower can be found in a ? Block to the left of two red Warp Pipes, and can grabbed to access a bonus area. In that area, four Rolla Koopas are skating over a contraption consisting of a spring under three empty green shells. The player must defeat the four Rolla Koopas to make the 10-flower coin appear. The player can use the contraption to defeat the Rolla Koopas and collect the 10-flower coin afterwards.
  • 10-flower coin 3: Just after the large Mushroom Trampoline, a ? Block embedded in a wall must be hit with a Rolla Koopa's shell to make the 10-flower coin appear.

Enemies[edit]

Talking Flower quotes[edit]

  • "Well done!" (upon defeating all Rolla Koopas in the bonus area)
  • "Zzz..." (on a large platform)
    • "Zzz--HUH?!" (when the player goes near)
    • "What is it?"
    • "Can't a guy get some shut-eye around here?"
  • "This is wonderful!" (during the Wonder Effect, lower right)
    • "So shiny!"
    • "Look at you--walkin' on air!"
    • "You should keep going!"
  • "Wheeeee!" (during the Wonder Effect, upper right)
    • "Clinky, clinky!"
    • "So many of them!"
    • "Make sure you don't miss any!"
  • "Ohhhh!" (during the Wonder Effect, top)
    • "What's this?"
    • "Never seen anything like it..."
    • "*sniff* *sniff* *sniff*"
    • "Ah..."
    • "Now, that's a good smell."
