Black Fairies are dark fairies that appear in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. They are projectiles fired from the mouths of Tar Men, Tar Fish, Hard Roc, and Thunder Roc that fly for a short time before forming into a Black Fairy Attack and flying toward Donkey Kong. If he touches a Black Fairy Attack, he loses beats (a heart in the New Play Control! version). However, if Donkey Kong uses the Sound Wave Attack to deflect the attack toward the source, it will damage the enemy, though in later battles they will repel them repeatedly in a tennis-like manner. Additionally, deflecting Black Fairies before they merge into a Black Fairy Attack will always cause the source to repel them. They will continue to launch the attack for Donkey Kong to deflect it three or more times and defeat them.
