With the Red POW Block becoming more common (going to appear in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, also appeared in Super Mario Maker 2 and Super Mario 3D World), I find it weird to not be its own page. I get the argument of it being just a variation, but there's tons of other pages that are also variations of others, and they only appear in one or two games (i.e. Fire Koopa Clown Car, Trampoline, Big Eep Cheep, Spiked ? Block, Flame thrower (Flame Chomp), Skeeter (New Super Mario Bros.), Gray P Switch, all gold versions of enemies and in the scheme of POW Blocks: Anywhere POW, which was even discussed above). I think the Red POW Block behavior, with the examples I've shown, is different enough from the normal POW Block to make it its own page. ====Support====
#Rodmjorgeh Per proposal. There's already a page redirecting to the main page: Red POW Block. Stuff related to this item would be put into there.
#PrincessPeachFan Per proposal. The Red POW Block in NSMBU and Wonder acts completely differently from the Blue ones and we do have the aforementioned articles.
#Cadrega86 Per proposal. Blue and red POW Blocks act differently and it's been pretty consistent in recent games. FWIW I would also support splitting the giant POW block from Advance.
#Archivist Toadette While it IS true that normal POW Blocks have been colored differently over the years, the Red POW Blocks have indeed been consistently distinct from other POW Blocks in all of their appearances (not to mention both types actually appearing individually in the Super Mario 3D World style of Super Mario Maker 2).
#Camwoodstock Per proposal. We probably don't need to talk your ears off about the precedent we already have of different colored objects getting split articles.
#ExoRosalina Per all, sure.
#FanOfYoshi  Per all.
Oppose
#Ray Trace I have to oppose because there are too many instances of red POW Blocks that function identically to their blue variant, and it's not just in SMB2 but The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, Yoshi's Island, the Paper Mario titles, and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Honestly, I think the Giant POW Block from SMB2 is more suiting for a separate article than the red one just because it's a more distinct entity more akin to the examples you listed.

So, how do we handle the SMB2 Pow Block? -- 07:22, September 10, 2023 (EDT)
: Well, they are indeed POW Blocks that are red, but they don't use the function from past games. The page says that these first appeared in New Super Mario Bros. 2. I guess the page could have a section like Other Appearances (similar to Eep Cheep) with the SMB2 POW Block there. Rodmjorgeh (talk) 07:28, September 10, 2023 (EDT) Rodmjorgeh
:: If we go this route, it'd probably be something like "Although they function much like the normal blue POW blocks, the POW blocks in Super Mario Bros. 2 are colored red."? But honestly, we'd be tempted to hold a vote on what to do about that thing anyways--it's just kind of one of those weird edge-cases like the Gray P Switch. Still, no harm in splitting it off for the games where the red POW Blocks are notably different from the blue ones. <br><br>...Besides, it's not like this decision impacts the main POW Block article too much, seeing as even if we decide SMB2's POW Blocks are the debut of Red POW Blocks, Mario Bros. has them beat for the blue ones as-is. This literally only affects where we say when red ones debut, and looking through various ports of Mario Bros.... You might have an argument--albeit a very shaky one--they debuted in some ports of the game, like the Atari 8-bit and Atari XEGS releases, which colored their POW Blocks a combination of red and some other color (red and green in the former and red and blue(!?) in the latter.) 13:05, September 11, 2023 (EDT)
::: I agree. What you said at the top reads well and it's easy to understand, because again, I think the article has to include the SMB2 recolored POW Block like the Gray P Switch article includes the SMB3 recolored P-Switch. But it shouldn't say it's the actual debut of the Red POW Block, as not even this article says that, it explicitly tells you it debuted in New Super Mario Bros. 2, and tells explicitly what's different about the normal one. Sorry, but to me, that calls for a seperate page, especially when there's 4 more games that use it. @Ray Trace I can see the confusion, but that can be fixed by adding a section named "Other appearances" like I said above. By the way, this exact problem happens in Super Mario Bros. 3, where the Gray P Switch acts like a normal P-Switch, it's just... gray. The confusion between the SMB2 red POW Block and the NSMB2 one is the exact same problem as this, so respectfully I disagree with it being a reason to not add the page. Rodmjorgeh (talk) 16:01, September 10, 2023 (EDT) Rodmjorgeh
:Other appearances sections shouldn't be used for that per this proposal. (Eep Cheep's also needs to be redone to comply with the proposal.) But it could probably be mentioned in the opening paragraph that regular POW Blocks have been red in other games. -- 20:42, September 11, 2023 (EDT)

 1. Paper Jorge ( Talk·Contributions)· Basically, POW Blocks with a slightly different name. This is the same for Face Block and all its other names: no need for a seperation.
 2. Cobold (talk · contribs) - Too similar and too minor.
 3. Blitzwing (talk · gnome work) - Per everyone. It's just a POW Block that is used differently.

Two Types of POW Block[edit]

The character infobox has a Red POW Block as its picture, but I'd argue that the blue version is as iconic as, if not more than, the red version. Should we change it? --TomAndTheCats (talk) 18:27, June 17, 2023 (EDT)

I say the two colors are fairly interchangeable but I can see an argument being made for the blue one since the blue one is more common of a color recently.
