Swirlwinds are unique in that they move while [[Donkey Kong]] or [[Diddy Kong]] bounce on them. They continue following the [[Kong]]s before eventually falling into a pit. First appearance Donkey Kong Land (1995)

A Swirlwind,[1] also named Tornado,[2] is an enemy in Donkey Kong Land. These tornado-like enemies are first encountered in Snake Charmer's Challenge briefly, and later appear in another level with their name, Swirlwind Storm, where they are the main obstacle and feature. Swirlwinds can be bounced on by Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong, and they continue to move while the Kongs do so. A Swirlwind continues following the Kongs before eventually falling into a pit. There are instances where the Kongs can bounce on Swirlwinds to reach higher areas, out of reach items, and even a Bonus Level. A Swirlwind damages the Kong if touched from the side, and may also cause the Kongs to fall in an abyss when it drops down into one. Swirlwinds sometimes obscure a nearby item, such as a K-O-N-G Letter.
