RE: Banjo and Conker Series

Yeah they are pretty bad right now, given that they are basically made from deleted content (I rewrote or added a couple original entries). For all our worries (mine included) of Banjo and Conker content "taking over" in the past, we really didn't make that many articles, which means these series articles are in bad shape (hence the construction template). If the recent proposal I created passes, the content from these Nintendo licensed games would be acceptable on the wiki, and thus we couldn't delete entries on official subjects, just as we don't delete articles on official Mario subjects (i.e. the series articles couldn't just be summaries of the series). I don't know much about Transformers and GoBots, but based on that link you sent me, they appear to be two independent, competing franchises that make references to each other, whereas as Banjo and Conker are deeply rooted in a franchise connectd to the Mario series (and are now competing, just like Donkey Kong Country competed with the Super Mario series). But I do think we need to give a history of each franchise at the beginning of the article, but I'm not entirely sure how to arrange the rest of the content - perhaps by game introduced (and to divide it more, by level introduced)? You could give info about the game, then give info about the levels in the game, then info about the characters, items, special moves, etc. introduced in those levels. That might be less confusing (and would get rid of repetition - like, you wouldn't have to give a summary of every level in the game section, as the actual level entries would be listed under the game section header). I don't know though. -- Son of Suns (talk)

Personally, I find the information about worlds, characters, items, etc. to be as important as the franchise history and Mario references - to me, and I'm sure others, that content is not filler but important parts of the greater Mario franchise. The two series emerged from the Donkey Kong series, and their worlds are deeply connected, as indicated by the Diddy Kong Racing instruction manual, as well as references throughout the Banjo series. Under the new Importance Policy that will likely pass, the information about characters, items, etc. would be protected and allowed, but based on past proposals, it could only be allowed in the series page under MarioWiki: Canonicity. Potentially such content could be unmerged into individual articles, or at least general articles about different topics (i.e. Banjo Characters, Banjo Items, Banjo Places articles). But this may require a proposal, or at least a discussion and vote on the individual series talk pages. -- Son of Suns (talk)

Joining The 'Shroom

Hello, I am TutiFrutti112 and I'm new here. I am interested in becoming a writer for The 'Shroom, but I'm not sure how. I already tried the "Sign Up" page. If this is how you sign up, I'd like to know more about the Entertainment section. Does it only have to be YouTube videos? Can it cover things such as fan-made comics? Also, how do you turn in what you wrote? Should we send you an email or a message? You might find it useful to know that I have written for a newsletter before at my school. I also write and read a lot, so you can trust in proper English and spelling. Thank you for reading, and I hope you can answer my questions.

RE: Warning

You're right. While I do consider it a serious offense, nothing in the rules state that you shouldn't do that. So I will remove the warning (and add a rule about bumping articles). -- Son of Suns (talk)

I issued a warning only because it is hard to revert the bump (if you even can). Bumping affects the "last edit" column on the FA nomination page, thus extending the nomination period when it should only be a month. I tried hiding the revision but that didn't do anything. So now the nomination is up higher in the list and has an extended life. I don't know what we should do about it. Do we just leave it and take serious action next time or do we do something now? I don't know. So...because of the difficulty of reverting such an edit, I felt a warning was appropriate. -- Son of Suns (talk)

And I don't think we can just delete the page, because it would be unfair for the other people who are supporting the article and trying to fix it up. Well, I was just a bit annoyed that you gave me no notification on my talk page of why it was deleted. Took a long time to write all that useless crap, especially because of this weird keyboard >_>.

*cue sad music* Anyway, the reason I didn't just go and do it is because I have no confidence in my editing skills. When I first started (almost a year ago), some *EXPLETIVE* retard kept reverting my decent (by noob standards) edits. And since then, I have made several huge edits which have been removed for stupid reasons (look at the Psychopath page's history, and see how much hard work Pokemon DP reverted >_>). So yeah, I was pretty sure that no matter how helpful I thought my addition would be, it would get removed or stuffed around with. But anyway, I'll do it if I remember to take some screenshots...

Now I started a Treasures section on the article. If it need improvement, tell me. But when I'm done, I'll add a full list with in-game descriptions and screenshots.

Oh, and are you going to do your own archiving before this page gets massive again?

Just wondering

Plan to be going through the "wanted Pges" for the next couple of days and removing all the red links (as in red links that are only linked to less than 3 times) and wondering if it's acceptable to remove red linsk from archive pages if unprotected? Garlic Stapler

the point is that imply having a higher number of userspace edits alone is not a serious offense unless it's paired up with other rules breach. a friendly reminder is ok in this case since we do ask to care about the editing side of the wiki, but formal warnings are not, since their presence imply that repeating the offending act will lead to a block, while the reason you guys warned him for (having too much userspace edit vs too little mainspace edits) is not ban-worthy by itself. --Glowsquid 11:29, 10 April 2011 (EDT)

Those articles make some inconsistency, and I believe that some of them should be merged to game references if only have a few references to the mario series - Tetris DS and alleyway can be excluded as they seem to show largely Mario charaters, and if these games make a major reference to said series, then they can stay as articles on their own. ¢oincoll€ctor

La règle sur les sous-pages /sig existe parce que poster le code brut bouffe beaucoup d'espace inutilement et crée des problèmes de maintenance potentiel (par exemple, si une image utilisée dans une signature est supprimé ou remplacée, on peut facilement corriger/supprimer le lien mort si c'est une page /sig, alors que si c'est du code brut, il faudrait corrigé manuellement le lien sur toutes les pages de discussion où l'utilisateur a écrit.). Après, c'est vrai que confondre : avec | ou les [] avec {} peut être embêtant, mais c'est pour ce genre de chose que le bouton preview existe.

3: Mon premier réflexe est de répondre sur la page de discussion de l'autre pour être sur que l'autre voit ma réponse. Hi. I'm very sorry that I didn't tell you this earlier, but here it goes. The reason the vandal accounts have my IP is because my real-life friend (who hates Mario) used my computer to create the vandal accounts. He claimed that his was dead, and wanted to borrow mine. I let him, but didn't realize he was creating vandal accounts until he told me. Once again, this is the explenation behind the vandal accounts.

Interesting. I own the PAL version of the game, and it clearly says 'kicks'. Darn, I hope there aren't any more differences (actually if there were that would be great, accuracy is fantastic). Something that occurred to me when I was transcribing them, I remember reading somewhere that there is actually a message you get from Mona if you collect all of the pose cards (those weird pictures you get after clearing a boss stage), which I haven't gotten because they're tedious to collect and completely worthless. The pose cards themselves aren't even mentioned on the wiki yet. I'd be happy to create an (incomplete) list of Pose Cards or even just an article about them, as they give the game replay value. Food and drink

I've noticed that drinks are listed under the category Mario Food, as well as the category Drinks. Wouldn't it be better to remove the category Mario Food from all the drinks considering that they are drinks and not food? Yoshi876 (talk)
