The non-Mario badges you uploaded by mistake, think you can find a place for them and remainders on other wikis? 01:18, September 15, 2020 (EDT)
:Oh absolutely but the problem is, there's a whole lot of them and I don't have accounts on other wikis, aside from Nookipedia and WiKirby, and both of them are inactive. I'm not sure if I'll ever get around uploading them for other Nintendo series. 03:59, September 15, 2020 (EDT)
::Nookipedia and WiKirby are actually very active. But that's fine, if you'd like to put them in a Dropbox or something, I can upload them at some point :) 12:23, September 15, 2020 (EDT)

Hey. I just came here after seeing one of PaperSplash's edits. In their edit they said that even though the English script for Princess Peach: Showtime! is just the same one it’s put on separate en_US and en_GB language files in different folders, so English (United Kingdom) was added but I removed it after. Eventually I thought of readding it but with a note somewhere. The only problem is I couldn’t put a note after “en_gb=y” explaining that. I tried what I could, but the note still wouldn’t show up. How should I add that note? CarlosYoshiBoi (talk) 19:35, February 4, 2025 (PST)

If you can try to get more Dr. Mario World model animations could you do the rest of the losing animations and win animations and more for the gallery? I know you told me last time, but I have been checking all day. I split the models into a gallery of the models, so people could find them easier there instead of waiting in the other gallery. 11:29, September 20, 2020 (EDT)
I apologize if I come off as... dogmatic or anything in regards to my opinions on sprites and borders and all that. I do want to say, however, that I get a visceral feeling of revulsion when I see them cropped like that, not unlike what some people might get from trypophobia or something like that. It sounds really silly and I wish I didn't have that, but that tends to impair my judgement a bit after I see it. Again, I'm sorry, but I wanted to explain where that behavior comes from, and I'll try to keep my reactions under control from now on. == A simple question ==
Obnoxiously flashy sprite palette cycles and how to deal with them
One thing you may or may have not noticed recently, is that I have been uploading many image/gifs from the PC/MS-DOS versions of Mario is Missing, Mario's Time Machine, and Mario's Early Years: Fun With Letters. Part of why I have been doing that is because all of the games I just mentioned, I own on CD-ROM. I play them on DOSBox, take screenshots of them, and then remove the backgrounds to rip the sprites. Are there any particular sprites from Mario is Missing, Mario's Time Machine, and Mario's Early Years: Fun With Letters that you would like ripped? Also, other than taking screenshots and then removing the backgrounds, is there any other way to rip sprites from those games?
I've come up with a plan. The most "common" flash palette will be uploaded after being slowed down by a factor of 4, which will be noted in a description. To account for all of them, a separate image will be linked to from the description that displays a completely static chart showing all the possible palette combinations and explains the "accurate" speed and frame order. This will avoid eye strain/epilepsy issues and gallery bloat while also avoiding missing information (as I find palette cycles to be another interesting not-quite-behind-the-scenes detail about how the game works on a visual level; besides, we need to point out how one of the SMAS SMB3 invincibility flashes looks suspiciously like Wario with red shoes). Of course, this'd all be avoided if 80s Nintendo hadn't been so flash-happy, but that's what we have. By the way, one of the White Block images already existed, and three are linked on the White Block page itself for the purpose of a comparison. I'd request at least the first of them, but ideally all three be restored, with the previously mentioned slowdown implemented. By the way, what about Missile Bill and ones like them, which do flash, but only between about two visible colors, making them less problematic in that respect? I'm curious of your thoughts on that. Thank you for the concern (and for cutting down the work-load/potential eye issues for myself, lol). MarioIsMissingDos 3:52, 21 September 2020 (EST)
:Yeah your suggestion is a better solution than uploading all variations of the images at once, I understand why you did what you did and why you felt it was necessary to document them. I had to do what I did because multiple people did complain about how viewing the images caused discomfort so I had to quickly step in to stop it (there's a reason I slowed down the animation of both Whirly Fly Guy sprites). The Bull's Eye Bill did see complaints, including from my sister, so I do suggest also making it just a bit easier on the eyes. I personally don't have as much issue as the flashing blocks but I could see why they wouldn't like it. BTW could you link which ones I deleted, I can restore them for you if that's what you'd want. 11:37, March 7, 2025 (EST)
:'Allo. I haven't really played the games but I think you should rip...well every named object in the game, from characters to Mushrooms to Blocks. I think it would be so great to have expanded coverage on the edutainment games on the wiki in general so images are a great place to start. Maybe one day they'll be featured articles lol. 17:24, September 21, 2020 (EDT)
::These were the three: . That Buster Beetle one is the worst because it's 1 frame-per-second in-game, and unlike, say, the opponent cars in Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race which keep a consistent "black and white go here" system to them to make them blend into another color (ie, red and blue for purple), it also has outline flashes. I've made another chart for the Bills (and everything else that flashes multiple color combinations as well), so I'll be fine with deleting the non-red ones, though them and Bob-ombs don't flash as badly since they only use two shades. I'd assumed beforehand this might have been better than that Whirly Fly Guy since what made that one extra awful was being eight frames covering the whole thing (including multiple outline flashes) and having the propeller animation on top of it, but yes, in practice, uploading 54 flashy block images was a bad idea on my part and I spent yesterday feeling a little dizzy in the head. eV6K2Il.gif Questions

I'll be more than happy to answer any questions related to homebrew/riivolution hacking (includes Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and general sound replacements). I get a ton of those regularly, so don't be shy to ask me if you have problems or if you're interested in installing homebrew on your Wii, as well as making model replacements. If you're also interested in porting assets for Source, as in Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, or Gmod, I can help there too.

QcmSGsD.gif Policy on projects

I don't mind if you help participate in any my projects without contacting me first as long as you're not actively edit-sniping me as I write articles or add uploaded images to tables as I'm uploading them, because this creates edit conflicts and makes it even harder for me to save edits on articles I'm working on. However, it's generally still polite to ask first if it's ok to assist in my projects. The answer will be yes unless otherwise stated. I just don't want anyone edit-snipe police for me should someone else create articles out of red links that I was planning to create or create tables of items that I was about to create. Any help is very appreciated.

  2. Please sign your comments with Username or ~~~~. Don't make me and others go through the hassle of using the Usernamed template for you.

  4. I strongly encourage you to read these pages before you ask me (or others) help with Wiki syntax, but I'll most likely help with your problems anyway.
  5. Please use common sense. If you think what you wrote in my talk page is inappropriate, chances are, it is.
  6. This also applies to courtesy. Please be courteous and kind at all times.
  7. I do not take any requests of any sort. I'm far too busy to please everyone, and while I do have an attitude that wants to please everyone, it's not feasible to do so.
    1. THIS INCLUDES FRIEND REQUESTS. If you want to be my friend, talk to me and stuff like that. Friendship isn't a thing to be accepted or rejected, it's earned. Like trust. I will not bite you if you casually talk to me, I promise.
  8. Think something I did is wrong and incorrect? It is fine to discuss it here in a peaceful manner. Insulting me or calling me out because I did something you don't like obviously violates a MarioWiki policy and you could get warned for it depending on the severity of it. Wouldn't it be just easier to just...discuss it? I won't bite if you don't provoke me.
  9. Don't bother if you're gonna troll here: the edit is gonna get reverted instantly anyway so no one will see it. I'm already trained enough to ignore idiots thanks to my experience here.
  10. If I tell you to stop doing something (eg leaving random messages on my talk page), it's probably because you're annoying me. Please don't continue leaving messages that I don't care to reply to.

Obnoxiously flashy sprite palette cycles and how to deal with them[edit]
