Minion Quest story
The extension story itself is tied in with the original story multiple times. For example, Mario gets Bean Fever because he ate a Poison Mushroom and not an actual Invincibility Mushroom, because Captain Goomba picked the wrong mushroom and gave it to the Toad, who sent it to the video game arcade. Also, Bowser loses his memory and becomes Rookie because Captain Goomba accidentally crashes into him after jumping off the cliff of Hoohoo Village. Bowletta gives the order to attack Mario, and after the Koopalings have been defeated, they chew out Bowletta as the impostor. I think that the two stories are directly tied in with each other, not retconned with each other. I just don't think that the events of Superstar Saga could be retconned because when you pit the two stories side by side, they are tied in with each other, not retconned or contradicted. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:20, 28 January 2018 (EST)
- You still don't have any evidence that the developers planned Minion's Quest years beforehand. I will still assume they wrote this in as a backstory to connect the dots than them actually having any intentions of retelling the story later on. My revision still stands. Wario relation to Mario and Luigi
It's not unconfirmed if one source states it. Even if all the others don't, it's not completely unconfirmed, which is what you are implying. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:33, 31 January 2018 (EST)
- There is no source. That's why there's a refneeded template on there. Feel free to add it back once you get a verifiable source. Ray Trace(T|C) 20:42, 31 January 2018 (EST)
- There is a source. Nintendo Power stated it! That's what the statement said. I don't think anyone would add that in unless he knew for sure that was the case. I don't know why he didn't give a citation other than Nintendo Power, but that's just what it is. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:45, 31 January 2018 (EST)

Template
I created a template that we can implement via a separate proposal in the FA archive once its own proposal passes. Thought you might want to check it out.
P.S.: I noticed a few more mistakes in your FA archive draft. I fixed them here, and you can just copy-paste into your draft since I copy-pasted yours recently. (T|C) 22:45, 5 February 2018 (EST)
Goombette
The only RPGs to even have discernable female Goombas are the first two Paper Mario games, with two later mentioning one from one of those (one just in a line of text). SMRPG and the M&L games don't, period, and neither does any other sub-series. Goombetty isn't even a Goomba herself, ans Galoombas are merely "related to" Goombas. So I still think it's important enough to mention. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:26, 10 February 2018 (EST)
- Goomboss from 64 DS is a character, even if he originally came from Paper Mario. He's still a character in a platformer. Other RPGs have characters like Goomp and Captain Goomba, who are male. Not to mention how most of the other characters in the Goomba template are referred to in their respective media with male pronouns.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:31, 10 February 2018 (EST)

MKW .gifs
Does this .gif you uploaded a couple years back have all of the correct textures on the feet? Because it appears that there's an open mouth texture between each foot...not sure how this program works, just wanted to make sure that's a blunder on the game's part and not yours... Super Mario
Off the wiki, when I hear people say "Super Mario," it's always in reference to the form, not the series. When they refer to the series, it's almost always through the informal "Mario series." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:21, 14 February 2018 (EST)
Bomb-Car
According to edit summaries, that was from one of the old competitions, which would make it from an actual game. Footage would be nice, I suppose.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:14, 17 February 2018 (EST)

- Since they were only relevant to two competitions it would seem might not be too hard to find it on YouTube...but I'd have to do it later, as I'm in a low-bandwidth location right now. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:58, 17 February 2018 (EST)
RE:Mario vs DK Skipping Stones
Thank you for the question, but I am not sure. I initially only wanted to bring the page from its past miserable state to something more decent, but it seems I got carried away with it. Since I decided to tone down my editing, I resumed to doing small things like uploading images and correcting mistakes. But if needed, I will happily hop on board again with some substantial writing. What suggestions do you have for the page's current appearance? Do you think it looks good? -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:10, 24 February 2018 (EST)
- Ay, thank you. What was I thinking when I listed the characters in a table? I changed that. I also changed the introduction a bit, to focus more on the game's novelty: tipping stars! You can check it if you want ;) I have found the whole soundtrack on YouTube, but I am too lazy to bring it here--plus, I imagine the files would have to be reuploaded to versions that are straight game rips anyway. I know I would put the reupload template myself. In any case, I'm afraid the red links and lack of media files might prevent any feature nomination for quite some time. But, let's be honest here, it doesn't hurt to have the page nice and clean like that, and I'm working towards it. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:00, 24 February 2018 (EST)

As seen by my ability to send you this. Hello! Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:04, 6 March 2018 (EST)
- Oh, you know, just trying to keep myself from getting heated. I found a few more sprites intermixed in with the Yoshi's Island sprites from SMA3: Sluggy, Marching Milde, and probably Train Bandits, as the background for that one was a little lighter than the respective tiles I found in the sheet from Mario Universe...but it might just be a capturing problem. Finally moving the images after starting 2 weeks ago is a load off my back. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:14, 6 March 2018 (EST)

Graphics of SMW2
I think the outline on this is wrong. It should be thicker, like that of the SMA3 sprite. Note how the outline appears thicker between the top of the closer arm and the body still, creating a bit of a clashing effect. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:50, 8 March 2018 (EST)

I know that. I never meant to be mean to her even though she is gone. I never wanted for her to even be hurt. She helped many people, even me. You guys should tell people not to join the site unless you are 18 or up. So then you can deal with these people who hurt you when you didn't know the rules. I am 13 now, but I still find this wiki with to many people who expect you to know EVERYTHING. So I might as well leave like I did already. The abuse towards me back then really did change my life on how it is now.

RE:RE:Small Mario
I know, but in this case when we're talking about earlier versions which Nintendo no longer supports and are no longer available, it doesn't make sense to use present tense as I feel it belongs in the non-fictional sense since Super Mario Run is a piece of mobile software and when talking about previous versions of software, generally past tense makes more sense than present tense. We see Wikipedia do this. It also can apply to Super Mario Run version changes. Additionally it's notable when talking about the inconsistencies between the past playable appearances of characters such as Peach, Toad and Toadette.--99.227.180.3 00:02, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

Just noticed that you undid a revision I recently did on the Baby Peach article; I do understand where you're coming from in terms of making sure it is mentioned - but I honestly thought that content in question was (and still is) suitable for the SMBSS articles themselves, including that episode. Need a quorum
Hi, I know this might sound like canvassing, but I'm actually being nonpartisan here: would you mind voting in this proposal? The reason I ask is because the proposal is just one vote short of the required quorum, I'd hate to go through the hassle of either splitting anyways or proposing a second time, and you voted in favor of a similar proposal anyways, so you might be inclined to willingly support this one too. I just hope I can get enough turnout before the deadline, which is five days from now. Thanks! (T|C) 15:56, 7 June 2018 (EDT)

Reupload
Hi, just a friendly reminder that you might want to reupload File:MPIT SpaceWarp.png to include the wormhole. As it stands now, this could easily be confused with Event Spaces, which are a thing in the game, at least in Shy Guy's Shuffle City. Thanks! (T|C) 02:10, 8 August 2018 (EDT)
- Yeah, I had the assumption that you never played that board since it
notoriouslystands out from all other boards in the series. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I figured that reuploading the Warp Space image would be easier for you, since those spaces only appear in Rocket Road, a board you likely have played before.
- On a side note, I'll need you help. I took some screenshots of various spaces in Mario Party 10, but I don't know how to cleanly crop them. Since I'm under the impression that you're likely better at getting these kinds of images than I am, would you mind downloading the images from this link and cropping them to transparency? There might be one duplicate in there (but that's just because Gate Spaces look nearly identical to Boss Battle Spaces). Thanks! (T|C) 15:07, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- Yeah, being busy happens to everyone sooner or later. ;) On a side note, I'm afraid I couldn't find anything in the space listings for Warp Space. Even though Yellow Toad refers to them as such, the space listing in the final results screen erroneously refers to them as "Event Spaces" and doesn't even include the wormhole graphic, so...yeah, that's one opportunity shot. (T|C) 15:26, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- I have a link you can use to get the information. Unlike in Mario Party: Island Tour, Mario Party 10's space descriptions come with an icon of the space/event to the left of the description. (T|C) 15:39, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- Yeah, I was watching WiiLikeToPlay's playthrough of the game (they played the North American version) and can confirm that the spaces are indeed localized in America as "Warp Spaces", so I've updated the page accordingly. (T|C) 15:48, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- Yes, go ahead. There are many differences in space icons between games, anyways; the Boss Battle Space in Mario Party 10, for example, has its colors inverted from its Mario Party 9 appearance. (T|C) 15:59, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- I was thinking that too. You can move the page if you'd like; it's completely fine by me. (T|C) 17:23, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- Yeah, the deal with Advance Spaces and Dash Spaces is confusing, plus the polar opposites of both spaces are called "Back Spaces". (T|C) 18:48, 10 August 2018 (EDT)
- Thanks so much! And, yeah, some of this will have to be fleshed out, like with Minigame Space, Dash Space, and Back Space, but that's another matter entirely. (T|C) 18:55, 10 August 2018 (EDT)

If he doesn't, well do the Dangling Ghosts and Caged Ghosts? If yes, still a scan. Japanese name of Dangling Ghost: ぶーらぶらおばけ and Caged Ghost: どかんおばけ. Back in 2011, you led a proposal to merge Giant Donkey Kong into Donkey Kong. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:52, 25 December 2018 (EST)

Test for the Best
Hi, I still remember your forum message about merging game modes. Since I've finally made proposals about merging the Mario Party 8 game modes, I have a question: since Test for the Best will likely be the most contentious merge, how were you thinking of merging it (or were you specifically referring to that page in said forum post)? Just curious. (T|C) 19:36, March 19, 2019 (EDT)
- I feel like Test for the Best has enough information to stand on its own page, since it comes with its own charts and all. Not all game modes need to be merged, if said game mode comes with a significant amount of information to feel like it would clutter the game article page, it's better off in its own dedicated article. Super Duel Mode after all, got off because of its high amount of exclusive content for a side mode. Ray Trace(T|C) 01:26, March 20, 2019 (EDT)

- Actually.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:14, March 21, 2019 (EDT)
- I don't know whether to delete those files or keep the ones I uploaded. I like the ones I uploaded because
I went through the unnecessary effort of uploading themof the filenaming scheme which makes finding them in the category easier (it's probably why I missed those sprites because I was searching through the categories and must have overlooked them), plus I added new ones like the ghost house, cave, and water ones as well. Ray Trace(T|C) 17:17, March 21, 2019 (EDT)- You could of just moved the pre-existing files to a better name. As for finding the sprites you could of looking in the game's gallery first, as it is better organized there. You should tag your duplicate files for deletion and move the old ones, as this will have less code that needs to be changed. The new images can stay. Doomhiker (talk) 17:21, March 21, 2019 (EDT)
- If the values on the old ones are inaccurate to those of the game itself, I'd suggest revising the original files and then moving them to preserve history. The water one isn't even an actual "sprite," it's a sprite over a specific portion of the map (which is on a different graphical layer). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:23, March 21, 2019 (EDT)
- @Doomhiker: 1. That's hindsight. I didn't see the sprites. 2. I don't know why I didn't look at the gallery first this time because I usually do that before uploading them.
- I think I'm just being tired and I haven't undertaken large MarioWiki projects in quite a while. I'll move the old ones then, but mine have to be deleted first. As for the water one being an actual "sprite", It's one of the few things in the world map that is conveniently and consistently sized to add more description to the levels (unlike say Donut Secret 1 or Soda Lake) and I think it's fine to overlay that on top of the pool of water similar to how the cave sprite technically is something drawn on top of the level sprite itself, even looks like it could be its own sprite in the game itself anyway. Ray Trace(T|C) 17:27, March 21, 2019 (EDT)
- The reason for the consistent size is that it's built from a limited tile set. Those are just the "corner" pieces. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:35, March 21, 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah I've pieced that together, but tbf, I don't really care about the technicalities of the sprite creation part of the tileset. I just like how it gives a thumbnail-style visual level information for the player like how the cave one does, despite the cave one actually being a unique sprite, and I'd just keep it there. Ray Trace(T|C) 17:37, March 21, 2019 (EDT)
- OK, just remember, this can be a slippery slope to adding fake outlines to things. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:40, March 21, 2019 (EDT)

Yeah, I'm planning to upload PNG versions of GIF sprites sometime in the not-too-distant future, so you're welcome. (T|C) 00:08, March 22, 2019 (EDT)
The Italian wiki has all of them animated and it seems to look fine over there IMO.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:16, March 22, 2019 (EDT)
- Honestly, I'm just not too big of a fan of them. I'd like to keep consistency with images and since most articles don't animate the gifs in tables, the better they are. I do think the simpler animations are less intrusive and distracting than say the Mario & Luigi: Dream sprites for the idle enemies and outright animated 3D models for gifs, but if I had to pick between all animated and none animated for all articles, I'd go with none animated for table sections, unless animations are absolutely necessary to describe enemy behavior such as flashing enemies or transforming enemies. You'll surely be poisoned by this one, even if you somehow cause it to explode! (T|C) 10:02, April 1, 2019 (EDT)
You ARE
That was about the humor, not the stance. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:03, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
- I mean I do like the humor behind the whole Pink Donkey Kong Jr. kerfuffle, might even helped play a role in popularizing the ironic fandom (alongside my twin sister and Glowsquid) although it could be a long-running in-joke wiki thing I wasn't aware of, but logic trumps humor in MarioWiki which is supposed to be professional hence why I'd support a merge back with sound reasoning. As for now, I don't think Junior II is a strong article on MarioWiki and I also feel it can easily be merged back and memes about it does taint perceptions somewhat. What is with all the flooding? This is crazy!!! Please make sure you are not doing something weird or check your computer please! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits) 21:14, April 14, 2019 (EDT)
- Look I am not an admin but the recent changes has been flooded and thanks for helping but this is crazy!!! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits) 21:16, April 14, 2019 (EDT)
- Uh... what? They're uploading images. A ton, yes, but that happens for a big project. Flooding would be editing the same page multiple times. There's nothing wrong here. 21:17, April 14, 2019 (EDT)
- You have a dump of the game's badges, which is a lot, you can upload them very rapidly. Ray Trace(T|C) 21:19, April 14, 2019 (EDT)

Transparent images
I have the other kart files with fixed alphas, but I can't update them because I'm not autoconfirmed. Want me to send them to you? SwampyGator (talk) 23:38, May 24, 2019 (EDT)
- Sure thing. Where are you going to send it on? Ray Trace(T|C) 23:38, May 24, 2019 (EDT)
- I put them in a zip on my drive. SwampyGator (talk) 23:42, May 24, 2019 (EDT)
- All right thank you very much. I was also thinking to upload the cup icons as well but I don't know what cups each track belongs to. And also, the challenge icons. And maybe...maybe just get the character select icons even if they are stock images, just for consistency's sake. Is there any more you would like to upload? Ray Trace(T|C) 23:44, May 24, 2019 (EDT)
- Just scrolled through the sprites folder, only other thing I could think of is the challenge badges and possibly the maps for the individual track pages. Your call. SwampyGator (talk) 23:49, May 24, 2019 (EDT)

- Hi again. I talked to someone who told me the entire track list for MKT (minus the Dry Bowser cup as they had not unlocked it yet). Since I can't edit the actual page, I made a table and put it in MarioWiki:Sandbox. I uploaded all the cup icons as well as the challenges, so could you copy-paste it into the actual Tour page when you get a chance? I'll let you know what the Dry Bowser cup contains when I get that. Thanks again! SwampyGator (talk) 13:50, May 25, 2019 (EDT)
Ip edit verification
An IP recently added a tidbit to the Gray Coin article. I have never played SMW's remake, so do you know if the edit's info is factual? Thanks. Doomhiker (talk) 19:28, May 28, 2019 (EDT)
- i actually don't know if it's true or not. i've never got that amount myself but it has been a while since i last played the remake. i say it's safer to revert and ask for a source. if the ip does ask about the reversion and clarifies, probably may be true. Edits to archives
I don't mean to alarm you, but I've added {{talk archive}} to all of your talk page archives. I apologize if you wanted to be known before I did so, but I don't believe that counts as discourteous editing at all, and I thought I'd just let you know as a courtesy. (T|C) 20:18, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
- i prefer if the extraneous generic templates got removed and you just added the extra text that came with the generic template yeah Ray Trace(T|C) 23:17, June 18, 2019 (EDT)
When adding new messages
You don't need to add a new message within a section when selecting an already settled section, here's a faster way to do it. Go at the top of the page, and click on the + that indicates a new section. I hope that's an useful hint. -- FanOfYoshi 02:17, July 6, 2019 (EDT)
- Thank you for the concern, but I am already well aware of that. I personally don't like that function because it creates an unnecessary break that artificially lenghtens talk pages, hence why I don't do it. Ray Trace(T|C) 18:08, July 6, 2019 (EDT)

Infobox Request
Hey, Uh, Can I use the "This user is friends with Baby Luigi" in my Infobox? I know you said to talk to you and stuff, but you also say to ask for you permission before using the infobox, so I'm a bit confused. Mario Kart Tour Tires
Hey BabyLuigi, since Afelix is currently unavailable, do you think you could handle making the renders for the newer kart tires in Mario Kart Tour? I've seen that you've had some experience uploading similar things for the karts in Mario Kart DS, so it would be greatly appreciated if you could help out when you're able to. SonicSpeed48 (talk) 17:41, July 18, 2020 (EDT)
- I'll see what I can do. Ray Trace(T|C) 03:34, July 19, 2020 (EDT)
- Okay, just let me know if and when you upload them so I can add them to the pages where they're needed, alright? SonicSpeed48 (talk) 15:12, July 19, 2020 (EDT)
Dr. Mario World Model Ripping Animations
How did you rip the model animations that are in Dr. Mario World, I think I want to know how to do that too. What should I do? (T) 8:48, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
- Several things
- Download game into your phone, transfer files into your computer. If it's in Android, it's under Data/com.nintendo.zama/. I don't know the file paths for Apple.
- Open the game's contents with AssetStudioGUI using the Load Folder functionality.
- Click on "Asset List", organize by type.
- All model files are under "Animator" (not Animation). You also may need textures, though exporting the Animator file data does generate the texture.
- Get a 3D modeling program to import the exported FBX. Import the FBX with it. FBX comes with animations. Also read this thread too since Dr. Mario World models for 3ds Max will come with normals and shininess issues.
- Render the animation with your modeling program. If you get to this step, I can show you how to render all frames.
- Make an animated gif out of the exported frames with GIMP or an image editing program.
- Sorry, it's a bit complicated but that's about as basic as it gets. Ray Trace(T|C) 01:09, August 23, 2020 (EDT)
Dr. Mario World Animations for Gallery
Thanks for telling me last time, but can you also help add more animations to the galleries? We need the missing losing animations and we need win animations. Think you can help? I am unavilable at this moment for cause I am doing other stuff on other places. (T) 07:43, August 23, 2020 (EDT)
- I've been meaning to, but thing is, I typically have a lot to juggle in my hands. Also, I've been meaning to split off the gallery page for Dr. Mario World since load times are excessively bloated and I want people who want to suffer for animated models being the only people who suffer for it.
