They are found in only one room of the mansion, where they serve to endlessly supply [[Mr. Luggs]] with food, posing no direct threat. However, as long as they are left alone, Mr. Luggs will continously eat, meaning that he cannot be defeated. Upon vacuuming the Waiters up with the [[Poltergust 3000]], Mr. Luggs will no longer have food being served to him, causing the battle with him to start. Alternatively, they can be stalled by flashing them with the light (causing them to dissipate and reset) allowing Luigi to suck up the food without capturing them, after which Mr. Luggs will fly into a rage and they will flee in terror. After the boss is defeated, Waiters do not appear again for the remainder of the game.

A Waiter serving food to Mr. Luggs in the Nintendo 3DS remake

Waiters, also known as serving ghosts[1] or Waiter Ghosts,[2] are a type of Grabbing Ghost that appear in Luigi's Mansion and its remake. They are light blue ghosts dressed up in waiter outfits that carry plates of food in each hand. Only two Waiters are ever encountered, in the Dining Room, where they supply Mr. Luggs with food tirelessly and endlessly. Waiters cannot damage Luigi, unlike most ghosts, and they have only 10 HP. Waiters are unaffected by elemental attacks despite their heart having neither fire, water, nor ice protection. The way to battle Mr. Luggs is usually by vacuuming the Waiters into the Poltergust 3000. Stunning the Waiters with flashlight them to dissipate and reset, like other ghosts, though this gives a brief opportunity to vacuum up Mr. Luggs's food. If the Waiters are present when Mr. Luggs is out of food, they flee in terror from his anger.
