A messenger working for the Wizard King of the West arrives at the Ace Magic Wand Factory ("A New Wand Made Every Century") to pick up an important delivery. The wand maker who works there brings the messenger in and gives the package - a special wand that the Wizard King ordered to have made for him fifty years ago (its spells emit from a crystal in place of the usual orb). Meanwhile, in his castle, the Wizard King is watching this, commenting that it is about time "that slowpoke" finished making the wand. Just as the messenger is leaving the store, though, the Wizard King's crystal ball clouds up and shows a different vision - close by, on the ground portion of Sky Land, King Koopa and the Koopalings (or rather just Cheatsy, Kootie Pie, Bully, and Big Mouth) are plotting to steal the wand.

Over at Toad's House, Mario is busy repairing the drainpipes on Toad's bathtub while Luigi and the Princess watch. Just then, an image of the Wizard King appears in the bathtub's water, alerting the Mario Bros. about the Koopas' plot and showing the image he received of their ambush site. Toad accidentally drains the water by causing Mario's wrench to turn one more time, but he manages to get a good look at the ambush site and tells the others he can lead them to it.

Soon, thanks to Toad's guidance, the group arrives at the waterfall just in time to find the messenger on the run from the Koopas. Upon meeting with the heroes, the messenger hands the wand (and the case it is in) to Toad, and Luigi carries him out of the way. The Koopas attempt to chase them down, but Mario luckily grabs a Fire Flower and transforms into Fire Mario, scaring the Koopas off.

Upon returning to his house, Toad expresses that he thinks he should be allowed to use the wand since he led the way to the ambush and saved the wand, but the others refuse to let him do so, with the messenger adding that only a trained magician is allowed. The Wizard King, meanwhile, watching this on his crystal ball, agrees, and heads off on his ironically-named snail, Faster Lightning, to go pick up the wand himself.

In spite of the messenger's warning, Toad sneaks the wand out of its case and makes use of it anyway, saying to himself that he should protect the Princess (who is taking a nap at this moment). After demonstrating the wand's magic by bringing a tea set and a chair to life, Toad decides to produce tough guardians out of some nearby discarded pipes outside his house. However, when he creates a pair of giant anthropomorphic pipe creatures, they rebel against him and take the wand, which they then use to animate a pile of blocks (resembling Pile Driver Micro-Goombas) that they sic on Toad.

Running from the jumping blocks, Toad bumps into the Mario Bros., who are curious to this development. Toad claims that the wand jumped out of its case, but the brothers are skeptical. Putting this aside, the three of them flee from the blocks, eventually tricking them into jumping over a cliff.

Meanwhile, Koopa and his kids (including Kooky, who suddenly appears from out of nowhere during the scene) are making another attempt to steal the wand, this time with the help of two Boomerang Brothers. Cheatsy spots the wand in the pipe creatures' clutches, and Koopa has the Boomerang Brothers knock it out of their grasp and into his. But Koopa is only able to turn the pipe creatures into his own minions before Kootie Pie takes the wand from him, saying that it is her turn now. At this point, the Princess wakes up and comes out of Toad's House, only for Kootie Pie to "place [her] under house arrest" by making the picket fence around the house grow larger and surround it.

The Mario Bros. and Toad arrive on the scene just then, but then Bully takes hold of the wand and has the pipe creatures juggle them. Cheatsy then uses the wand to zap a Nipper Plant into a giant and commands it to eat them, but Mario breaks loose from the blue pipe creature's grip and rescues Toad from the purple one, seemingly forgetting to do anything about Luigi as well. Toad confesses that he took the wand out of its case, but Mario forgives him, offering him a chance to help with a plan he has developed.

Mario tosses Toad up onto some nearby platforms up above. Cheatsy attempts to stop him by zapping the fence trapping Toadstool so that it goes after Toad, but it misses and hits the bottom of the platform he is standing on. Cheatsy instead focuses on sending the pipe creatures to chase and grab Mario and Luigi (the latter of whom managed to escape their earlier entrapment).

Toad, meanwhile, has headed to the bottom of the cliff from earlier, where the blocks landed. He gets the blocks to chase him and then runs towards the Koopas. Bully takes the wand again and sends the giant Nipper Plant after Toad, but Toad jumps out of the way so that the Nipper Plant is squished by the blocks. Koopa attempts to shoo Toad away, worried that the blocks might jump on him next.

Fortunately for Mario, the pipe creature holding him brings him near some Jump Blocks, so he breaks out a Super Leaf and transforms into Raccoon Mario, allowing him to escape. At this point, Koopa takes the wand back from Bully, declaring that this is getting out of hand, but Mario then picks up Toad and has him grab the wand out of Koopa's clutches. Toad then commands all of the magic to stop, at which point the Koopas attempt to escape.

The Wizard King arrives just then and takes the wand from Toad. He then uses it to change the pipe creatures (who were still holding Luigi captive up to this point) into a pair of hands that then grab the Koopas and drop them into a pipe that deposits them back in their castle. Toad afterwards apologizes to everybody for putting them through all this, but the Wizard King is just glad that he now has his wand, and thus can now do what he had been planning to use it for all along - roasting hot dogs.

Trivia
Animation and continuity errors
*In several scenes, the wand's handle turns completely yellow.
*When the clerk gives the wand to the messenger, part of his shirt briefly turns the same color as his beard.
*When the Wizard King of the West says that he has been waiting fifty years for his wand to be finished, his left arm turns the same color as his body.
*When the screen shows the telescope vision, part of the background can be seen on the bottom-right corner of the screen.
*When Mario fixes the pipe, it is blue, but in the next shot, it turns brown.
**In the same scene, the pipe curves downward, but in the next shot, it curves upward.
*When Luigi notices the king, Mario puts his wrench back in his pocket, but when Toad moves closer to hear the message. it is back on the pipe.
*When Mario fixes the bathtub, the bottom part of Princess Toadstool's dress is completely dark-pink.
*When the Koopas chase after the messenger, Big Mouth's shell is initially colored white instead of yellow.
*When the messenger gives the wand to Toad, his undershirt turns the same color as his shirt, and shortly after, his shoes turn the same color as his tie.
**In the same scene, the sleeves on his shirt turn the same color as his undershirt. This also happens when they are at Toad's house.
*When Big Mouth says that the wand would be good as theirs, part of his face flashes.
*When Toad says that he has to use the wand, the light around it is misplaced. This also happens to the light around some Blocks when the pipe creatures make them come to life.
*When Toad is commanding the furniture, a dark smear appears on his chest for a few frames.
*When one of the pipe creatures takes the wand from Toad, the wand's handle turns completely purple, and shortly after, it turns completely yellow.
*When one of the Blocks jumps off a stack, part of another Block is missing.
*When Toad bumps into Mario, Mario's hair is colored black like Luigi's instead of brown. This also happens when he frees Toad from a pipe creature.
**In the former scene, Toad's impact effect when he falls to the ground is black.
*When Mario says he and his friends have to think of something fast, there are only two Blocks hopping to them while the others stay in a stack behind the fence.
*After Mario grabs Toad, he is not seen in the aerial view of Mario and Luigi running from the Blocks, but he reappears held by Mario at the scene where they stop at the cliff.
*When Mario and his friends jump off the cliff, Luigi disappears before he reaches the bottom of the screen.
*The camera zooms in too closely when Mario asks Toad if there is anything they want to tell him and Luigi.
*When the Koopas are walking before Cheatsy spots the wand in a pipe creature's hand, King Koopa is depicted the same size as the Koopalings while the Boomerang Bro is larger than normal.
*When the Boomerang Bros. are about to throw their boomerangs, the one on the left's outline becomes thinner for a few frames.
*When the pipe creatures dodge the boomerangs, their eyes are white instead of green and yellow.
**In the same scene, the blue pipe creature is holding the wand, but when one of the pipe creatures is hit, the purple creature is holding it.
*When Koopa places the pipe creatures under his control, the giant fence can be seen in the background despite Kootie Pie not having enlarged it yet.
*Big Mouth is slightly faded on the bottom right when he questions Kootie Pie having a turn with the wand.
*When Kootie Pie points the wand at everyone, Kooky is present, despite not being present in previous scenes. This also happens when Toad reaches the Koopas, when the Koopas run away, and right before the Koopas fall onto King Koopa and his throne.
**In the same scene, Cheatsy's eyes turn completely blue, while Bully is missing.
*When the Princess comes out of the house, the messenger is replaced by Toad. This also happens when Cheatsy zaps the fence into going after Toad. This other Toad is likely meant to be the messenger.
*When Bully uses the wand for the first time, there are two fences around Toad's house.
*The pipe creatures only run a brief moment towards Bully's direction, yet they somehow already reach the Mario Bros. and Toad.
*When the pipe creatures juggle Mario and his friends, some of the fence is transparent, with the rim of Toad's house being able to be seen through it.
*The Nipper Plant switches between black sclera with red pupils, sclera with black pupils, to only black eyes throughout the episode.
*When the Nipper Plant reaches Mario, the pipe creature is the purple one instead of the blue one.
*When Mario wrenches the arm off of the purple creature, the arm for it briefly disappears.
*When the arm comes off, Toad is falling with it, but the next scene shows him jumping down after the arm falls.
*A black smear briefly appears on Toad's pants for a frame as he and Mario walk towards the camera.
*Mario does not actually fling Toad high enough to reach the platform, yet Toad reaches regardless.
*The third platform Toad jumped off is not present when the fences hit the one Toad is on.
*The background loops incorrectly when the Mario Bros. run from the pipe creatures.
*Toad jumps from platforms to get to the Blocks, but when they chase him, he runs to the left instead of using the platforms to get back up.
*When Toad runs up to the Koopalings, Bully's sunglasses and collar are missing.
*When Bully use the wand a second time, Kootie Pie and Big Mouth laugh, but no sound can be heard.
*Despite Big Mouth being present in the episode, he never has a turn with the wand.
*When Toad runs from the Blocks, he is briefly layered over some of them.
*When the Nipper Plant is flattened, it has legs, despite not possessing some before.
*A shadow forms under King Koopa as if a Block is about to crush him, but the next scene only shows the Blocks hopping towards them.
*When Mario tries to get a Super Leaf, the background moves behind him.
**In the same scene, he mentions if he can find a Super Block despite being near one already.
*For some reason, a Thwomp landing/cannon firing sound effect can be heard repeatedly from when Mario becomes Raccoon Mario to him grabbing Toad.
*When the Koopas run away, Cheatsy's head turns the same color as his body. This also happens to Big Mouth when the Koopas are dropped into a Warp Pipe.
*When the king arrives, Mario's raccoon ears and tail disappear.
*When the pipe creatures turn into hands, they have no stripes on them, but next shot, yellow stripes appear. In the shot afterwards, the stripes on the purple pipe creature change from yellow to blue, while the hands each have three fingers instead of five.
*King Koopa panics before the hands grab them, along with his mouth not moving.
*When the Koopas are dropped into a Warp Pipe, Cheatsy is replaced by Hip, while Kootie Pie's shoes are missing.
*Toad's animation is delayed with his dialogue when he apologizes to his friends and the king.
**In the same scene, the king's right arm is colored yellow like the rings on his hands instead of skin-color.

* The blue Pipe Monster is the one holding the wand when the Boomerang Bros. throw their weapons, but the wand gets knocked out of the purple one's hand.
<gallery>
* Right when Bowser places the Pipe Monsters under his control, the giant picket fence can be seen in the background, despite that Kootie Pie hasn't enlarged it yet.

* When the Princess comes out of the house, Toad is somehow with her, even though he's actually with Mario and Luigi at this point. This same mistake occurs again when Cheatsy zaps the fence into going after Toad. This other Toad was perhaps actually meant to be the messenger.

Plot synopsis[edit]

The Wizard King of the West realizing that the Koopas were after his wand.

Toad, expressing himself through the messenger's words.

Pipe creatures
The pipe creatures, laughing at the Koopas.

Toad, trying to get the blocks to chase him.

Toad apologizing to the Wizard King of the West.

 • The pipe creatures only run a brief moment towards Bully's direction, yet they somehow already reach the Mario Bros. and Toad.
