Twisters are wind entities in Super Mario Maker 2. The main unit consists of a small, white sphere with eyes, and with the exception of the New Super Mario Bros. U style, they have small hair-like protrusions around their bodies.
History[edit]
Super Mario Maker 2[edit]
Twisters debut in Super Mario Maker 2 as course elements in the gizmo category. They hover along the ground and spin around, producing their namesake Twister above them that can lift both the player and enemies. They can be pushed around by solid objects, such as Munchers or Hard Blocks moving on tracks, and can dissipate when the white bit is crushed between two surfaces. When they reach the end of the platform they are on, they turn around and do not fall from the platform.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit[edit]
Twisters later reappear in Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit as obstacles in Tornado Tundra and in the Blizzard environment, where they slow down racers that make contact with them. They retain their design from the New Super Mario Bros. U style of Super Mario Maker 2.

Trivia[edit]
- In some early trailer footage of Super Mario Maker 2, the white part of Twister had a cloudy appearance resembling a Foo with elements of Ty-foo's design.[2] This resemblance was closer in the New Super Mario Bros. U style, where they lacked the blue cheeks and had pink lips.[3] This design seems to have been entirely overwritten, as it is not present in the final game's data.[4]
- Twisters are the only unique entity which debuted in the Super Mario Maker games to make an appearance outside of them to date.
