The Slide Kick[1][2][3] is a recurring move generally used by Mario. It is first usable by the player characters in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS, and it can be performed by first running, then holding down the crouch button, and lastly pressing the attack button. If the action is done correctly, the character begins sliding on the ground with his foot outstretched, damaging enemies in the way. In Super Mario 64 DS, Yoshi's Slide Kick is weaker, since he is generally weaker than the other characters, and enemies such as Boos are impervious to the attack.
The Slide Kick also appears as Mario and Dr. Mario's dash attack in the Super Smash Bros. installments prior to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Princess Peach can also use a similar move in Super Princess Peach called Slide, by simply crouching while dashing, resulting in a slide with a flurry of kicks. This helps her dodge obstacles where it can harm her when she stands, or slide under small spaces, and also defeat enemies.
