Do we really need this article? It seems pretty useless. This info can be found on Luigi's page. Just because his name is mentioned once doesn't mean he gets an article. Do we really need this article? It seems pretty useless. This info can be found on Luigi's page. Just because his name is mentioned once doesn't mean he gets an article. It's just a random generic name they threw in because his buddy needed to call him something (same thing with this guy). He doesn't deserve an article anymore than his partner (Larry?) does. As a matter of fact, we have quite a few articles like this that I'm really not sure about.
(--) 17:57, 13 May 2017 (EDT)
- Well, they are named individuals no matter how generic they look. It's pretty much why we have articles like Paratroopa (character) and Lakitu (character).
Ray Trace(T|C) 18:29, 13 May 2017 (EDT)
- Policy supports giving articles to any named NPCs, and also, the MPA characters have more going for them than just a name as I have argued time and time again. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 19:10, 13 May 2017 (EDT)
- OK, thanks, but now I have another thing to say. The Minor NPCs policy also says that if an unnamed NPC has some sort of improtance to the story, they should also be given an article. So should Larry (Gary's friend) get an article? Or would it be redundant since he serves the exact same purpose as Gary? Sorry if I sound disagreeable, but I'm still new to some policies.
(--) 19:20, 13 May 2017 (EDT)
- At the very least, if "Larry" receives an article, he wouldn't be called Larry. When it comes to creating articles for NPCs that do not have names, the standard is to use short and succinct descriptions of their roles, such as Hammer Bro Captain, Beetle Mania Toad, and Excess Express Engineer. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 19:49, 13 May 2017 (EDT)

Forgot all about this. So should Gary's friend get an article? And if so, what would he be called? Gary's partner? Goomba traitor? Castle Bleck Goomba? He does serve a slightly separate role from Gary (betraying Luigi).

- Mariowiki:Minor NPCs discourages articles on conjecturally named NPCS, but if an unnamed NPC can be said to have some sort of importance to the story, the character warrants an article. While I see this Goomba's actions as relevant to the story, as his betrayal of Luigi contributes to the creation of Mr. L, what does everybody else think? Does this need a proposal?

Goomba (Super Paper Mario character) 4-0-0-0
This article is about one of two Goombas who appear in Castle Bleck during Luigi's attempted escape. One of them is brainwashed and the other joins the winning team. When the first one is brainwashed, his buddy yells, "GARY, NO!". That random name the developers threw in there is the only reason Gary got a page. The other Goomba, though, remains page-less, as he is unnamed. MarioWiki:Minor NPCs discourages articles on conjecturally named NPCS, but if an unnamed NPC can be said to have some sort of importance to the story, the character warrants an article. I see the other Goomba's betrayal as slightly important and individualistic, as it leads to the creation of Mr. L. Therefore, I propose creation of an article for the unnamed Goomba.
Naming might be tricky. Alex95 up there suggested Goomba (Super Paper Mario), but since there are multiple Goombas in that game, that name is kinda iffy. Perhaps Goomba (Super Paper Mario character), Goomba (traitor) or (if we're really desperate) Goomba (Gary's partner). I'm taking suggestions.

Create the article[edit]
Vote for one of the names below.
Goomba (Super Paper Mario character)[edit]
- Ultimate Mr. L (talk) This isn't a standard identifier, but I think it works best.
- Toadette the Achiever (talk) Per Ultimate Mr. L. We have articles on each individual Mega Pi'illo, so why not this?
- Alex95 (talk) - This'll work for me.
- LuigiMaster123 (talk) This one seems the most fitting. Per all.
Goomba (traitor)[edit]
Goomba (Gary's partner)[edit]
Do not create[edit]
Comments[edit]
Er, which name are we going with? One should probably be decided first, perhaps with individual headers. 20:03, 6 February 2018 (EST)

Almost a year ago we had merged Jerry and Kuribo, who are both just members of their spiecies that happen to have a name and nothing else, little to no story revelance, 2 minutes of screentime and no unique design, they used to have their own pages but now have been merged with their spiecies article's, so if they are no longer considered "worthy" of a page, than why should Gary have one? Those few minor things that Gary says/does could just be mentioned in the Super Paper Mario section of the Goomba article.

- Sorbetti (talk) Unlike Jerry, Gary has a more notable participation than just being mentioned in a miserable dialogue, it is still small but definitely enough to have his own article like other NPCs with minor participations.
- Waluigi Time (talk) Per the minor NPCs guideline and my thoughts on its erosion. Also, it's been a while since I've played SPM, but I think you can interact with Gary, while Jerry and Kuribo are just incidentally named in dialogue.
- EvieMaybe (talk) per Waluigi Time.
- Fakename123 (talk) per Sorbetti
- Killer Moth (talk) Per all.
- Camwoodstock (talk) Per others. Not really much else to say here, you will encounter Gary.
