Tag-Team Names in Various Languages:
The currently existing table is a clean way of presenting the names on the main Mario Party 8 page, and in my opinion should definitely be kept. However, as far as the inclusion of the French names in the table, there's a problem. Listing all the names of the teams in the various languages the game released in is a good idea and should be done, but they shouldn't all go in the table since the bloat would be ridiculous. So what I'd propose is making a page for the Mario Party 8 team names, and moving the list of French names to the Names in Other Languages section of that page.Drake Inferno (talk) 21:10, August 3, 2024 (EDT)
:I'd support that, considering we made a page for other languages for Message Block hints in Yoshi's New Island, Tourist Tips from Super Mario World, and I believe Odyssey also has its own dedicated page. 21:19, August 3, 2024 (EDT)
::Sorry for the trouble, I'm not very used to the functions of a wiki like this, but how would I go about making a page with a table like that? I tried looking at the structure of some of the pages you mentioned, but couldn't seem to get it right when I tried to replicate it. Sorry once again. Mario Party 8[edit]

Some of this just seems like fan dreams. Pauline? I'm fixing this up for now, but uhh. Feel free to correct me. Evan

I have seen no evidence of a Mario Party 8 (yet) where is this info coming from? -- Sir Grodus

It has been confirmed now that there will be a Mario Party 8 in 2007. It's even at IGN! Paper Jorge ( Talk·Contributions·) Paper Jorge was here at... 19:34, 18 September 2006 (EDT)

Mario Party 8 is currently the Mario Party game with most playable characters (both starter and secret characters), which is a total of fourteen characters. However, Mario Party 10 has a chance of breaking this record. Reply if Mario Party 10 has been released, and count the number of playable characters there. If more than 15, reply to me that Mario Party 10 is now breaking the most playable characters record. 110.136.242.104 09:10, 28 August 2014 (EDT)

:Actually i realized that there are 15 characters in Mario Party 8 if it counts Miis for the Extra Mode. My IP is 180.249.2.197 05:24, 29 August 2014 (EDT) but i am the same person.

Character Artwork[edit]

Does anybody know where they got the artwork for the characters in mario party 8, and why didn't you add birdo, dry bones, hammer bro., blooper?--Fg 16:22, 15 February 2007 (EST)

My guess is because they're unlockable, and Nintendo doesn't release artwork of unlockable characters. Phoenix Rider

But, it shows Birdo and Dry Bones in the character selection screen in a movie on YouTube. YoshiFan

Regardless, where did those images come from? --Stumpers

I said Nintendo doesn't release artwork of unlockable characters. Youtube lets anything on. Phoenix Rider

Actually, your wrong Monty Mole. In Mario Kart DS, they released artwork for every character, including unlockable ones. How about Super Smash Bros. and Melee, StarFox Command, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and I'm sure theres more. However, I do not think that there is artwork for MP8. Possibly though. And yes, I would like to know where you got the artwork. --Bentendo 17:11, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Mario Party 8 Gets a Make-over[edit]

There is a new version of the boxart of Mario Party 8. Go to your nearest GameStop or EB Games to see it: It has only Mario and Luigi with the carnival background. No other characters. Dang, and you thought the old boxart was bad? Silent but deadly! SuperLuigi821 You lost everything. Way to go genious.

Umm...anyone care to find the newboxart? Silent but deadly! SuperLuigi821 You lost everything. Way to go genious.

Team Names[edit]

Are they really neccesary? My Bloody Valentine

The only way I'd include them is a table, I've tried to implement one, but there are just too many characters. So I don't really see a place for them. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 06:25, 21 November 2007 (EST)
I mean, do they really have to be here at all? My Bloody Valentine
That's what I was saying: Either as a table, or not at all. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 06:27, 21 November 2007 (EST)
Oh, OK. I think we should get more opinions before we remove the list. My Bloody Valentine

Yes, they are nessecary because for me, they are a very important part of the game. Even more important than the Star Battle. Yeah. All I do is Tag Mode with my friends. Smileymiley5001 P.S. I mean this with no offense at all.

Proof[edit]

I agree 'bout the table the teams names would look better in a table. Princess Butterfly 16:06, 25 November 2007 (EST)

Needs Improvements[edit]

Maybe it's just me, but this whole article sounded more like an opinional review with terms like "cool new boards" and such; but I fixed the most noticable problems there. The problem is, the article needs to be overlooked and tweaked. I found little errors everywhere, such as the use of 'you' instead of 'player' and incomplete sentences. It isn't that bad, but for how long the game's been out, someone should overlook this and do minor edits here and there. I do not own the game and don't want to do anymore than I have to. General Kelt

I actually gotta agree. Giratinabylydarioss8.jpgPalkia47Palkia.png Dialga.png I don't have the game either. And I don't wanna do it, since I just got into a "Flame War" someplace, so I'm kinda feeling bad...
Hope you feel better bud. Remember, it's just on online fight with someone sitting at their computer and shouldn't be capable of hurting you in any way, even if it does cause emotional pain. General Kelt
Good point. Giratinabylydarioss8.jpgPalkia47Palkia.png Dialga.png Thanks.

Fact or Opinion?[edit]

In this sentence: "The game is more notable than its prequels for its strong use of the Wii Remote in minigames.", is that a fact or an opinion? Giratinabylydarioss8.jpgPalkia47Palkia.png Dialga.png

That seems like more of a fact because it explains why it would be more notable. MisterJaffffeyPeteyPiranhaBanana.gif G0 Mario Party 8

Candy Names[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to ask if Thrice is a real word. For example "Thrice Candy" Is in the game. Answers Please! User:Mariofan459 11:00, 26 August 2009 (EDT)

Yes, though it's dated. Time Questions 11:20, 26 August 2009 (EDT)

Critical Reception Section?[edit]

Is that really necessary?

BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)

I don't think many other articles on here have one, so I don't think it is. --Turkishcoffee 01:47, 5 April 2010 (EDT)

I do think so. Such sections fit perfectly into an encyclopedia. Time Questions 06:20, 5 April 2010 (EDT)
It's always good to have "real world" information about a game, including development and reception. More articles would need that. At least four of the featured game articles have a reception section. But the bad about this article's section is that I don't see any citations. --Grandy02 07:12, 5 April 2010 (EDT)
Both of those are really good points. --Turkishcoffee 08:12, 5 April 2010 (EDT)

Puns[edit]

Why do we have a puns section? I thought it was the minigame section at first >:( I think its completly irrelevant. To put it in a polite way, I don't think many people care about puns. 22360415-149x149-0-0 ++The+SpongeBob+SquarePants+Movie.jpg Boo der dash 180px-MaskedDedede.png

Actually, the puns section probably shouldn't be there since each mini-game page states what the game name pun is. =/ Garlic Stapler (talk)
But do people want to go to each mini-game page to see it? No. Besides, it's trivia. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
It's Trivia for the individual mini-games though, not the game in general. We don't list the name origins of areas & enemies and whatnot in other game articles either, even if they're puns, and it seems rational to me to expect someone to visit a subject's article if they want to know details like this about the subject.--vellidragon 18:37, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

It should be because it's trivia about the minigames. That's my point of view anyway. Smileymiley5001

I'd like to point out that very few of the listed entries are actually puns. Most of them are simply references and double entendres. Twentydragon 06:50, 10 December 2011 (EST)

Team name chart[edit]

Is there any way to fix the team name chart so it doesn't expand the page width? YoshiwakerTyranitar.png

Why did they have Kamek say spastic?[edit]

The word "spastic" is technically not a bad word, but the UK would say it's highly offensive. Not all people that play it are made fun of because their disability, but Kamek's not referring to a disabled person, but a train!?!? I probably say that he's referring to the train not a disabled person due to the fact that if he made fun of a disabled it would get a T, M or AO by the ESRB. ==Unshy Guy==(Talk)

And whether we want to briefly touch upon the controversy on this page and then link to the relevant section on the controversy page is a different question to ask that probably needs something consistent decided upon throughout the Wiki. Well now it’s back on the main page and I have to ask, why was it removed in the first place? Somethingone (talk) 21:59, July 15, 2021 (EDT)

Tag-Team Names in Various Languages:[edit]

The currently existing table is a clean way of presenting the names on the main Mario Party 8 page, and in my opinion should definitely be kept. However, as far as the inclusion of the French names in the table, there's a problem. Listing all the names of the teams in the various languages the game released in is a good idea and should be done, but they shouldn't all go in the table since the bloat would be ridiculous. So what I'd propose is making a page for the Mario Party 8 team names, and moving the list of French names to the Names in Other Languages section of that page.Drake Inferno (talk) 21:10, August 3, 2024 (EDT)

I'd support that, considering we made a page for other languages for Message Block hints in Yoshi's New Island, Tourist Tips from Super Mario World, and I believe Odyssey also has its own dedicated page. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 21:19, August 3, 2024 (EDT)
Sorry for the trouble, I'm not very used to the functions of a wiki like this, but how would I go about making a page with a table like that? I tried looking at the structure of some of the pages you mentioned, but couldn't seem to get it right when I tried to replicate it. Sorry once again. Drake Inferno (talk) 06:21, August 11, 2024 (EDT)
