Punchy Paddiesrefneeded are grouchy grasshopper enemies showing up in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, whose habitat is the Lost Mangroves. They are rather chubby, and display stretched heads ending with underbite chins. Two short antennae stand aloft their heads and above their minuscule and malicious eyes, topped by frowned eyebrows. Punchy Paddies wear characteristic collars around their necks, and also display small wings that are surprisingly capable of holding their disproportionate bodies' weight.

Punchy Paddies make continuous swift leaps on stable surfaces. They fly up and descend slowly on the ground, in possible attempts to land on the Kongs and hurt them. The heroes are supposed to either stomp or roll into the Punchy Paddies in order to defeat them. In one level called Shipwreck Shore, a group of three Punchy Paddies hop on wooden crates that buoy on a pool of water; if these crates get destroyed with a Corkscrew move performed from underneath the surface of the water, the grasshopper-like creatures will have no choice but to fall in the pool. Before disappearing at its surface, they congest their faces into horrified figures, while repeatedly writhing their legs in the air.

Punchy Paddies act very similar to Frogoons from Donkey Kong Country Returns - frog foes that jump up and down. Some of the Punchy Paddies do not only hop in one spot, but follow straight, open paths, as seen in Busted Bayou - these are acting more like Hopgoons that have appeared in the said game. Nonetheless, they can be combated the same way described above.

Just as with any other easy-to-combat enemy, shooting a Punchy Paddy with a popgun or ground pounding next to one makes it dizzy, and therefore stuns it for a while.

Punchy Paddies[1] are enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its port. These grasshopper-like creatures have small wings, wear a characteristic collar around their neck, and display a grouchy or irritated expression. Punchy Paddies most often appear in the Lost Mangroves levels. They behave similarly to Frogoons from Donkey Kong Country Returns, where they remain in a single spot and jump. Instead of inflating themselves, Punchy Paddies use their wings to temporarily stay airborne before they slowly descend back down. While doing so, they seem to angrily beckon at the Kongs, marking their "punchy" behavior. This is further shown by them clenching their two frontal legs into fists. The Kongs can defeat a Punchy Paddy by either jumping on it, rolling into it, or by throwing an object (such as a DK Barrel) at them. If the Kongs get in contact with a Punchy Paddy, they become injured and lose a heart.

In Shipwreck Shore, a group of three Punchy Paddies hop on small wooden crates that float on a body of water. If these crates are destroyed with a Corkscrew from underneath, the Punchy Paddies fall in the water and are defeated. Several Punchy Paddies in Busted Bayou move down a path by hopping as opposed to being stationary, similar to the Hopgoons from Donkey Kong Country Returns.
