The Gate Cliff, or World 6-1, is an area in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It consists of a large set of rocks in the ocean. Gate Cliff is not a full level and merely serves to prevent the player from reaching the end of the game without completing all of the other worlds first, even though the player is allowed to enter World 6 as soon as they complete Surfshine Harbor and obtain the boat from there.
History[edit]
Mario accesses the cliff by his boat. If he does not have the five Royal Stickers from the first five worlds, then Kersti remarks that the cliff blocks their path, and it will never go away. At this point, Mario has no choice but to leave by re-entering the boat and activating the wheel.
However, when Mario returns with the five Royal Stickers, the stickers begin glowing. The energy from the Royal Stickers causes five dots, each one of the same color as one of the Royal Stickers, to appear on the cliff. These dots are connected by yellow dotted lines to form a pentagon. At this point, Mario can Paperize to peel off the section of the cliff surrounded by the pentagon and place it into his album. The section of the cliff flips around in the album, and the back of it features a statue of Bowser's head. Mario pastes the face back into the world with Paperization, and the head is revealed to be part of Bowser's Sky Castle. The castle flies into the air and out of sight, and Mario cannot follow. In order to proceed to the remainder of World 6, Mario must get assistance from Wiggler in Wiggler's Tree House.
Oddly, if Mario uses Paperization on the cliff before collecting five Royal Stickers and then fails to have any effect, the game will ask the player if they wish to continue Paperizing, as if it was possible for Paperization to have an effect on the area.
Area Tattle[edit]
- Hmm, you're right. No matter how hard you stare at it, it looks like any other cliff wall.
