Monocle Monicas[1] are enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. They are encountered in levels of the Lost Mangroves only. These purple dragonfly-like creatures wear a monocle on their left eye and have bird-like beaks (depicted as insect mandibles in concept artwork instead). Monocle Monicas often appear around grass-covered walls or vines. Monocle Monicas fly around on set paths. To move, they quickly shift between positions in mid-air: some fly between two positions, other between three in a line, and several follow a rectangular pattern. Monocle Monicas can damage a Kong upon contact, but the Kongs can defeat them using any attack method. If the Kongs are on a vine and a Monocle Monica flies upwards into them, it counts as being stomped on and defeated.
