Figure-8 Circuit is a race course in Mario Kart DS that is exactly what it sounds like, a Figure-8, and thus looking like an 8. It's the first race course of the Mushroom Cup, as well as the location of the awards ceremony held after any cup. Missions 1-1 and 2-2 take place on this circuit. It is comparable to Luigi Circuit of numerous other Mario Kart games, in that it is simple, straightforward, and free of gimmicks.

*In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there is a Mario Kart-themed course entitled "Mario Circuit". However, the course itself is a Figure-8, and so it resembles the Figure-8 Circuit more than any Mario Circuit.
*Mario Circuit from Mario Kart 8: another course shaped like a number 8. However, it is also based on a Möbius strip, due to the game's anti-gravity mechanic.
*The 2D building structures in the background are a reference to Super Mario Bros. 3.

*The Figure-8 Circuit is the only circuit in the Mario Kart series that isn't owned by anyone.

Figure-8 Circuit is the introductory track of Mario Kart DS, serving as the first race course of the Mushroom Cup. The course is named for having a layout in the shape of an 8. It is the only circuit course in the Mario Kart series that is not associated with a character. The Figure-8 Circuit is comparable to several Luigi Circuit courses throughout the Mario Kart games for having a simple, straightforward layout with no unique gimmicks and no obstacles. Figure-8 Circuit is where the awards ceremony is held after every cup in Mario Kart DS.

Figure-8 Circuit has a different introduction fanfare on Grand Prix, which is shared with Waluigi Pinball, Mario Circuit (which uses the same music theme as Figure-8 Circuit) and GCN Luigi Circuit.

Figure-8 Circuit is one of three courses from Mario Kart DS that is yet to return as a classic course in a future entry of the series, and is the only Mushroom Cup course in the game with this distinction.
