The Thousand-Year Door description | A strange, star-shaped stone. (GCN) A strange star-shaped stone. (Switch) |
The Star Stone, originally called Star Key, is an item obtained by defeating Gloomtail in the Palace of Shadow in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Once it is collected, Mario must insert it into a star-shaped slot at the top of the Palace of Shadow Tower. This makes the eight pedestals appear in the top floor of the building where Mario must solve eight riddles, each with a blue Palace Key. In the Nintendo Switch remake, the Star Stone is also required to access the rooms containing the riddles. Getting all eight Palace Keys will unlock the secret path to the Shadow Queen's throne room.
