Fire Shooters are a type of devices that appeared in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. They are similar to Water Shooters, but as their name suggests, they shoot fire instead of water.
History
Super Mario 64
There were two types of Fire Shooters in Super Mario 64.
The first types were faceless, black, apparently metal orbs that shot homing fireblasts at Mario. They were among the many traps laid by Bowser. Others included bombs disguised as butterflies and some larger variations. These fireshooters were replaced by smaller versions of the Fire Chomp in the DS remake.
The second types were called Pyro Boxes, and they were often found in Bowser's levels. They were mounted in floating stones or walls (depending on where the player was). The fire that came out of this variant was shot faster and had longer range, making it difficult to evade.
Super Mario Galaxy
In Super Mario Galaxy, their nozzles shoot long-ranged flames at Mario or Luigi. They are first found in Bowser's Star Reactor and re-appear in the Deep Dark Galaxy. These Fire Shooters resemble F.L.U.D.D, however their nozzles are red instead of yellow.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Fire Shooter is scheduled to appear in the uppcoming game Super Mario Galaxy 2.
