Gameplay
Overview
The player in the barrel must reach the goal line while being bumped by Chain Chomps as few times as possible. The player can avoid being bumped by one of the Chain Chomps by hiding in the barrel. If the player does not hide in the barrel when the Chain Chomp charges at the barrel, they are momentarily stunned, and cannot move. If the player does not reach the goal within the time limit, they lose.
The player tries to reach the end within 60 seconds in Shroom City and Mini-Game Attack. The course is longer in Play Land. The player wears a barrel while moving slowly, trying to avoid being hit by Chain Chomps, which they can do by hiding into their barrel or by staying a distance away. There are not as many Chain Chomps in Mini-Game Attack. If a Chain Chomp hits the player, they are stunned for three seconds.

In the Play Land version of the game, the course is longer, and the player must instead make it to the goal to earn the fastest time.
