The title of this article is official, but it comes from a Japanese source.
If an acceptable English name is found, then the article should be moved to the new title.

First appearance Super Mario-kun Volume 9 (1993)

Dossunmengyo is a Thwomp-faced fish that briefly appears in Super Mario-kun Volume 9, based on the ningyo, creatures with both human and fish qualities from Japanese folklore. It was born from the chaotic force that fell upon the Mushroom Kingdom.

Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Birdo meet the Dossunmengyo while traversing a desert. They try to drink from an oasis lake, only to be attacked by the Dossunmengyo, armed with a fork and fire breath. They escape unharmed, due to the monster not being able to leave the water, and it is never seen again.
