Latest appearance Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Nintendo Switch / Nintendo 3DS) (2018)
Effect Unlocks some courses

Super Gems[1] are collectible items in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and its Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS ports. They serve the same purpose as Green Stars in Super Mario 3D World, Star Coins in the New Super Mario Bros. series, and Star Medals in Super Mario 3D Land. Three Super Gems can be found on every stage, sometimes locked behind a certain puzzle. As in Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World, they are used to unlock levels. There are 192 Super Gems in the Wii U version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[2] and 204 Super Gems in the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game. In the Special Episode, Super Gems are a deep royal purple color instead of their normal color, serving the same purpose as Moon Coins in which they do not contribute to the gem count needed to unlock levels.

In the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack in Minecraft, diamonds are replaced by Super Gems. Dry Bones also wear Super Gems as Strays.
