"Gateway's Purple Coins" is the second mission of the Gateway Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. The objective is to collect all the Purple Coins around the planet by utilizing the Red Star power-up. This mission is only made accessible after the Gate has been unlocked on the Comet Observatory.
Mission
The single red Power Star.
When Mario enters the galaxy during the mission's first playthrough, Rosalina will greet him. A Red Luma notices how much Rosalina trusts Mario and gives Mario a challenge of collecting 100 Purple Coins which he has scattered around the planet to earn his trust as well. There are seventy Purple Coins located on the planet itself and thirty Purple Coins in the air.
