I think that if these modes get split out, we should also make pages for Grand Prix and Time Trials, and perhaps Versus too. Because it's currently odd that those three all redirect to the ''Mario Kart'' series page despite also being as recurring as Battle Mode. (For Battle Mode's case, this page also served as the hub for all of its own sub-modes.) They don't have to be big long pages, but they could at least note how the modes act and have changed over the years. :These are the main meat of the Mario Kart games. It's kind of like giving party mode from Mario Party its own page. Time Trials is more of a side mode but its means of play doesn't change across games, and it's not much different from the racing taking place, vs Battle which get their own arenas and whatnot. I'm not wholly opposed to the idea, I just don't think it's as immediate of a problem. {{User:Mario/sig}} 14:24, February 8, 2025 (EST)

Revision as of 14:27, February 8, 2025

I've never made a page before, so I'd like some help with someone with experience. Battle Mode is such a big part of the Mario Kart series, and it needs it's own page. Mimikyu (talk) 09:17, 15 March 2017 (EDT)

I agree, but the Battle Mode page is where this is suppose to be. It was intended for this page. It does not need ()s. But, with little info here, it doesn't seem to be best if we have links to this yet. First thing, this article is a stub. Please try to add more info the next time you create an article. Second, fill in as much as you can with sections by using ==s for main headings and ===s for the sub-headings, but do not have empty sections unless they are planned to have more info later on, but even then, do them if they are in the near future. I actually added Balloon Battle, Shine Thief and Bob-omb Blast to the article already. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 11:00, 15 March 2017 (EDT)
I saw. I notice it when I was writing. The stubbiness refers to what was there before you wrote anything. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 11:03, 15 March 2017 (EDT)
OK. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 11:18, 15 March 2017 (EDT)
I think this should be moved to the proper place now. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 17:44, 15 March 2017 (EDT)

Split the modes into separate pages

A Yellow Block from Super Mario World This talk page section contains an unresolved talk page proposal. Please try to help and resolve the issue by voting or leaving a comment.

Based on the vote so far, this proposal may be eligible to close one week early. Please use {{proposal check|early=yes}} on February 15, 2025 at 23:59 GMT and close the proposal if applicable.

This page is pretty big, and it's not really to the benefit of this wiki.

Balloon Battle has been such a prolific and recurring mainstay to the Mario Kart series, its own promotional art, that, at this point, should get its own article. I keep getting surprised that searching the term "balloon battle" redirects to this rather big and unwieldy page. Balloon Battle is quite different from races, since you're given hit points, the karts control differently (generally more slowly; Mario Kart 8 even has that drifting U-turn) and in Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii you're restricted to just your standard vehicles. While not in depth as Super Duel Mode, Balloon Battle has enough content to be split off.

The other modes are not as iconic as Balloon Battle but if Balloon Battle gets a split, these other modes should also be split for consistency, and the content also seems substantive enough to stand on their own, due to changing rulesets that are better documented in standalone articles than on this big page.

If this proposal passes, there should still be a standalone battle page, but in place of the swath of content, there should be a brief paragraph summarizing the mode along with a link to the main pages.

Split🎈🎈🎈

  1. Mario (from the Mario Kart series) (talk) Ha! Lettuce fight.
  2. Sparks (talk) Pink Shy Guy using a Boomerang Flower to attack Wario in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This image needs to be featured in its own page. Per Mario!
  3. Waluigi Time (talk) Per proposal. I don't see a compelling reason to keep these all together on one page.
  4. Camwoodstock (talk) Makes sense to us; it would be far easier to explain the nuances of these modes, especially how they vary from game-to-game, if they were split up.
  5. Rykitu (talk) Per all
  6. EvieMaybe (talk) per proposal. makes perfect sense
  7. Jdtendo (talk) Per proposal.
  8. Arend (talk) Per πŸŽˆπŸ’£β˜€οΈπŸͺ™πŸš¨ (all of these)
  9. BMfan08 (talk) Per all. Now, if you would excuse me, I have to Bob-omb the renegade's balloons and take the shine out of their coins like a thief.
  10. Nintendo101 (from the Nintendo101 series) (talk) Per proposal.
  11. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - This has always been an overly large convoluted snarl of a page.

Keep merged πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

The time for talk is over! Now we can move on to the planning.
