Whirlwind Tires are not like ordinary tires from the game. These tires begin to move as soon as the Kongs jump on them. They will continue to follow the heroes throughout the level, until it falls into a hole or abyss. With Whirlwind Tires, the Kongs can collect items high in the air, and even get into [[Bonus Level]]s with their aid. They can also reach high ledges or ropes with these special tires. Although Whirlwind Tires help the monkeys, they can also damage them. If one of the heroes touch the side of them, they'll get damaged easily. They may also cause the Kongs to fall in an abyss if they aren't careful when it drops down.

First appearance Donkey Kong Land (1995)

A Swirlwind,[1] also named Tornado,[2] is an enemy in Donkey Kong Land. These tornado-like enemies are first encountered in Snake Charmer's Challenge briefly, and later appear in another level with their name, Swirlwind Storm, where they are the main obstacle and feature. Swirlwinds can be bounced on by Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong, and they continue to move while the Kongs do so. A Swirlwind continues following the Kongs before eventually falling into a pit. There are instances where the Kongs can bounce on Swirlwinds to reach higher areas, out of reach items, and even a Bonus Level. A Swirlwind damages the Kong if touched from the side, and may also cause the Kongs to fall in an abyss when it drops down into one. Swirlwinds sometimes obscure a nearby item, such as a K-O-N-G Letter.
