Point
From what I can tell, this category (and its subcategory, Category:Twins) is useless. The scope is so vague that it might as well be unattainable, and no, I don't think defining the scope would help matters at all. I'd say delete this category and the other category I mentioned, though I'd like to see some thoughts on the matter before I proceed with a proposal. (T|C) 18:20, December 15, 2021 (EST)
- I'm not really sure what's so vague about this? It's for characters that have siblings. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 12:47, December 16, 2021 (EST)
- I think it should just be for sibling groups, like the Goomba Bros., Jellyfish Sisters, and Henry and Orville, not everyone who happens to have a brother or sister. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:36, December 16, 2021 (EST)
- I agree with repurposing the category if anything, though would it look a little off if characters like the Starshade Bros. were in the category but not the Mario Bros.? LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:39, January 2, 2022 (EST)
- Wow, this category's been pending deletion for over two years? I can agree that just including sibling groups would be odd and therefore vouch for a deletion. We should also check the other familial categories as well as Category:Children for their potential usefulness. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 12:50, February 25, 2024 (EST)
- Category:Children isn't about family relations. It's about... children... minors. Weegie baby (talk)
- That's why I referred to it separately from the familial categories (this, Category:Married characters, Category:Parents, and Category:Grandparents). A few other users besides me also questioned Category:Children's viability in a failed proposal on creating a category for teenagers. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 22:37, November 21, 2024 (EST)

This category has been considered for deletion for three years now. I think it's time for a proposal.
Per a discussion on this talk page, various people want this category deleted to due it's vague purpose. While other family related categories exist (e.g. parents, married characters, etc.). The scope on this is a lot more vague than those categories, and that's why I'm assuming why people want this deleted.
Category:Twins was also brought up for deletion, however, I find the scope of that to be less vague.
It was considered to repurpose this into a sibling groups category page (e.g. Starshade Bros., Hooligan brothers, etc.). People thought it'd be weird having a category of sibling groups with the Mario Bros., so I was thinking if this is repurposed into a sibling group category, that we give the Mario Bros. a group page.

Do nothing
- Hewer (talk) Honestly not really seeing the issue here, I actually feel like the current scope of characters who are siblings is a bit less vague than "sibling groups". If the exclusion of the Mario Bros. would be a problem with the new category, wouldn't the better solution be to just not make the change that excludes them? I don't like the idea of making a page on the Mario Bros. as a group for no reason other than to put it in the category, what information would the page offer that isn't just repeated from the Mario and Luigi pages?
Comments
Please add this to the proposals page so more people can see it.--Platform (talk) 10:38, December 24, 2024 (EST)
- I did it for Starluxe. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 11:20, December 24, 2024 (EST)
I noticed you didn't include an option to do nothing. What if someone thinks these two categories are fine as is? SolemnStormcloud (talk) 11:20, December 24, 2024 (EST)
- @SolemnStormcloud I added an option to do nothing. Starluxe 13:59, December 24, 2024 (EDT)
A "Mario Bros." page would be the most correct place to handle statements about Bros. Moves and Bros. Attacks. And we do have "Powers and Abilities" sections. Salmancer (talk) 07:50, December 26, 2024 (EST)
- True, but would the rest of the page just be constant repetition of "Mario and Luigi appear together in this game"? Would it only cover certain games where we have more to say? In that case, how would we decide which games? Would we end up in a situation where the "Mario Bros." page doesn't cover the many games with "Mario Bros." in the title? I'm still a bit confused how this page would work. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 08:59, December 26, 2024 (EST)
- Koopa Con Carne managed to get Buzzy Shell to work, there's gotta be some way. Though yes, "Mario Bros." has it pretty bad. Obvious choice says "exclude all stories where Mario and Luigi do not have relatively equal roles. This includes Luigi being a secret playable character to Mario's normal playable character." This article is about the Bros. being together. That's still a lot of games, and this brand of writing excludes The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which otherwise makes their relationship central to the story. This is a tough nut to crack. I dunno, maybe talk broadly per series, hitting on things like playablity in Super Mario, team names in Mario Party, Mario & Luigi as a concept... Salmancer (talk) 09:25, December 26, 2024 (EST)
