This page still belongs here?Cheese. The HK. Go. Again. And Again. And Again. And Again.

They created a large abundance of Donkey Kong games and created characters like Diddy Kong and King K. Rool, so I would think so. -- Sir Grodus

And they hid cheese in every room of Perfect Dark. Rare stays. --YellowYoshi398 22:17, 17 March 2007 (EDT)
Thank the Bhudda (j/k) for Rare. Cheese. The HK. Go. Again. And Again. And Again. And Again.

And they let Nintendo keep the rights to Diddy Kong (because they created him, they could have taken him) and they did hide Cheese in every room of perfect dark (even though it was already mentioned and most likely will be millions of times) User:Pal101

Rareware[edit]

You know the alternative logo Rare use when they go by the name of "Rareware"? I think it should be uploaded here, but get their permission first! Mr Man 14:37, 4 October 2011 (EDT)

Why aren't the Banjo-Kazooie and Conker series detailed on this wiki?[edit]

This question may have already been answered elsewhere, but why aren't the Banjo-Kazooie series and Conker series detailed on this wiki? Since both Banjo and Conker debuted in Diddy Kong Racing, wouldn't that make both series spin-offs of the Mario franchise? -- Poison Mushroom Orb in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. EditionDigibutterFrancis 08:06, 17 April 2018 (EDT)

It was decided not to cover the series in this proposal, and there is also a section mentioning it in the coverage policy. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 08:22, 17 April 2018 (EDT)
While they first appeared there, both Banjo-Kazooie and Twelve Tales were already in development prior. Even before Diddy Kong Racing was even mean to have Diddy Kong in it. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:43, 17 April 2018 (EDT)

Move to Rareware?[edit]

Wouldn't it make more sense to move this page to Rareware? Not only was it the name used under Nintendo tenure, and this is a wiki about a Nintendo property, but also more people are probably looking for this page with that title than "Rare Ltd.". Should this page be moved? Diddy Kong costume pose in Super Mario Maker Starluxe Donkey Kong costume pose in Super Mario Maker 12:46, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

Rare has had exchanges with Nintendo under the "Rare Ltd." brand, right? Like for handheld remakes and Smash? In that case, the article's probably fine. On the other hand, I think the Nintendo Cube move was a little early. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:11, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
That is true, but I still believe the name "Rareware", or even "Rare" makes more sense. The "limited" isn't often included in Mario-related media, and anyway, iQue's full company name is "iQue Ltd.", yet we still shorten it to "iQue". What makes Rare so different? History and Appearances sections[edit]

Question.svg This talk page or section has a conflict or question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

Shoudn't the "History involving the Super Mario franchise" and "Appearances in the Super Mario universe" sections be merged? They both cover times when Rare has appeared in the games, so I don't see why they should be separate. 1468z (talk) 13:06, December 2, 2024 (EST)

Move to Rare 1-8-2
Okay, hear me out here.

I'm not the biggest fan of having this page named as "Rare Ltd." for reasons I'll get too later. But penultimatly; I want this page moved to either Rare of Rareware.

Moving to Rareware
The name "Rareware" was used when this company was under Nintendo tenure; and this is a wiki based on a Nintendo character. I also bet "Rareware" is the most common search for this company on this wiki due to this name being used throughout their Donkey Kong releases.

Moving to Rare
Let's use iQue for an example here. iQue's full company name is "iQue Ltd.," but for simplicity's sake, as well as it being used and searched for more, we use the name "iQue". Shouldn't this be the same for Rare?

  4. Ahemtoday (talk) Per Camwoodstock.
  5. EvieMaybe (talk) per Camwoodstock, too
  6. Salmancer (talk) Rare isn't fictional. I disagree with treating the names of fictional things and real things in the exact same manner. It also appears we're also cutting the Ltd from Nintendo, so I guess that's the wiki stance then.

Do nothing[edit]

  1. Super Mario RPG (talk) No. Rareware is no longer their current name, and they have officially collaborated on Donkey Kong remakes post-buyout. I don't see any reason to get rid of the "Ltd.", either.
  2. Altendo (talk) Secondary choice. I feel like keeping the current name is fine.
